wrong. us 20 somethings heard devo as kids and never forgot about them, then after we realized all the music we liked in highschool sucked, we remembered how great devo was.
@@bennyd345 I also found Devo during the lockdown era. Thier music really spoke to me and they are up there with my favorite artists like Sparks. Love these guys. Great interview x
I remember having to watch my back in Junior High School for wearing my Devo concert shirts. The kids coming after me generally wore Van Halen and Iron Maiden shirts.
7:45 This is the exact reason I found out about and got into Devo!! Mr Neil Cicierega aka Lemon Demon praises Devo a lot as inspirations for his own work!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_yIaelSVhyM.html It's the famous sound in Del Shannon's "Runaway" ( though in the video posted here it names other old similar synths.
In the 80's, I appreciated the non-conformist parodies of society, pop culture, authority, etc., and the music most of all. The status quo always sucks. In California, the Democrats have been in charge for 2 decades perpetuating corruption, increased taxation, etc. For Devo to embrace and actually support this is conforming to the status quo. Do they warn of devolution, or embrace it? They need to be consistent.
Wtf are you talking about they hated Reagan and always hated corporate culture, see any of their interviews from the 80s. If you are referring to them talking about climate change- yes they believe in science...
