So respectful. Devon knows after Johns last blast and comeback he's just cruising now and pulls with respect and does nothing to embarrass him. Even then, that last hook had Devons face mighty red holding him :)
I'm suspecting a bit of play acting. I used to do traditional Japanese martial arts. Ultimately, everyone acts for Sensei. I'm not an expert in arm wrestling, but I'm starting to see things in this Brzenk over-the-hill era that looks very similar to students falling over for their 75 year old 'Grand Master'.
John is a legend and Devon would never show him up ...he has too much respect for the goat. Devon talks a lot of smack to build up his matches....but he is really a class guy in the sport.
@@cody0126a I don't think so at this point. John is almost 60 while Devon is 11 years younger. John has obviously lost a lot. If they were the same age I'd take John all day even with the size disadvantage.
If anyone thinks John is done....they're wrong. The guy is 12-4 on his comeback trail at almost 60 years of age against the top arm wrestlers in the world.
It doesn't matter how he looks against Devon now, in 10 years Devon will be out of his prime too. Just appreciate that the goat is still trying and enjoying the sport at 60 years old, looking good against monsters like Denis, who openly admitted John made him struggle in round 1 and 2. I hope to continue seeing John pulling for several years, maybe in lower weight classes.
You cannot say with absolute certainty that Devon will be out of shape going into his 60s. We have Crazy George who is in his 70s and still beats most people in his weight class without breaking a sweat.
John Brzenk is a champion in armwrestling and in life. He's been the goat and still kicks asses, but never stopped wrestling with the spirit of a beginner. A true lion.
Devon is so respectful and tactful in these encounters. He always prioritizes the opponent/trainee, regardless of any outside interference/cameras, and always tries to help them improve their technique. He's a man who's truly in it for the love of the sport. Highly infectious approach. It's folks like Devon that will draw people to the sport, and take it to that next level.
@@vargvikernes5617 I don't know John like I know Devon, but that's good to hear. Any good sportsman should be passing on their knowledge, not only for the passion and love of the sport, but for the sport to improve/grow. Also for the challenge. Fortunately, I see a lot of vets/pros in armwrestling who do this. Probably more than any other sport atm. Makes me wish I had a local armwrestling chapter like this so I could officially get in on it.
Pure pleasure to watch! Getting to see these guys grip up in a relatively quiet room without a large crowd just isolates it all so much more! It's funny because at first I didn't think of arm wrestling as a "sport", and now I think of it as some kind of martial art (After almost 3 years of watching it intently)! xD
@@TheNaraja00 I wish I could! Unfortunately my shoulder and spine are ruined and I have chronic nerve pain. Can barely scratch the back of my own head some days! xD If I ever find some miracle cure and am able to start lifting again I will indeed join a group!
@@HavanaBobChannel Just shitty spine genetics and years of general labor work and heavy weight lifting. My hips shoulders and spine are crooked. Got denegerative discs, early arthritis, and multiple nerve impingements in the neck, lower lumbar, and shoulders. My right acromion bone is also curved excessively into my rotator cuff which doesn't allow it to work properly. Long story short, kinda limited in what I can train these days. xD
We're about to see Denis, Devon and Levan epic standoff. Even their names form some kind of linguistic triangle. This is destined by armwrestling gods!
@@borissibor2638 Not legendary yet and Lavan is the Steroid master he went from 170lbs to 396lbs in three years that's a lot of drugs he isn't gonna live long lol
These 2 guys are just showing the spirit and passion of 2 guys in their 20's, that's beautiful to feel it for whole life... That's the true curiosity for anything a man want in this short life... Time goes on very fast... But spirit remains forever...
John was miles ahead of his time. Champion at such a young age and undefeated for sooooo many years. What a legend. You can't be a champion forever, glad to see him in good health/shape it seems. Hell at least he's out there and having a good time and not being a sore sport about it.
Are you a foreigner or ai? These stupid comments are annoying. John is at the very top of his weight category, don’t you watch east vs west? Ongarbaev beat him and in the rematch he’d probably win.
@@Bennythecoredriver nothing stupid or annoying about his comment..he's likely talking about John being a champion in the open category..he used to pull multiple classes often and do very well..that's obviously not going to happen anymore and that's ok..he'll remain the GOAT perhaps interpret things with some nuance instead of posting inane comments like "are you a foreigner or ai"..
@@Bennythecoredriver I'm a person ofc lol. I'm just saying he was a great arm wrestler and he seems to be trying but holding back a bit probably for safety reasons. He doesn't move Devon at all. I mean use critical thinking. He's an amazing arm wrestler still but there for years he was undefeated. Legend status with that and he was only 17 when he started winning. Now, you have to read the video, you watched it right? Did not move Devon near defeat at any point. Devon's a beast and John can't pull him...
@@Bennn2013 I see alot of comments about John not being what he used to be. Thats not a good way to motivate a current athlete. Of course he's not the same. He's not the same age, but he's currently #1 or #2 for his weight category so he's just not beating super heavyweights; who are inhuman. Super heavyweights aren't what they used to be. Huge evolution.
I just want to thank both of you two for always putting on an amazing show..your 2 of the best and to see you guys still locking up was a real treat..cheers boyyys..
John, hold your head high. I’ve only learned of this sport and champions like you and Devon. We’re all getting old, some of us before our time. At 27 years old, I weighed 155 and got my Bench press to 285, and can’t remember but my shoulders must have been bothering me so never hit the big 300. I could do 27 pull-ups strict overhand, now none that I know of, afraid to. I wish I could have stuck with lifting and staying more active. I made a huge mistake and started a job in 1992 sitting. That and 4 car accidents of stupid people hitting me, and a push up would hurt, at 62 years old, it stinks., arthritis, back pain, 24/7, fibromyalgia, have kicked my butt, no wind, etc. I love watching guys like you and Devon, Pat each other on the back and always treat each other these days, respectfully. I know Devin probably talked trash to you in the day, but it doesn’t matter. Love that ya’ll are still bringing attention to the sport, hang tough guys!
He seems to "mock" his rivals only on events that rely on the audience to pay to see the matches. On casual occasions he seems to just fool around and have fun. Gotta give it to him, if he wasn't the clown he is when it comes to hyping the events, arm wrestling wouldn't have gotten this much followers.
Best training partner at all, he only defends even against the goat, people who hate Devon are for sure the newbies and the most embarrassing part of the armwrestling community
Lmao you're both spot on. You can tell people are new fans because they are still all in on the drama even after Devon's match and he's back to loving everyone again.
SO much respect there from Devon! He choose not to pull through and humliate JB. I love it! One champ to another. In 10 years when Devon is getting to 60 and on decline i hope the next prime champ will show him as much respect.
John is getting in a workout like Devon usually does himself in practice. Probably a weird experience for Devon, that someone else is waiting for you to do something
It's always a treat to watch John or Devon pull, shether in competition, a practice, or just for fun. It's even better great seeing them pull each other, especially without the gamesmanship of a competition setup
2:27 full throtte john almost takes the entire arm but devon sticks it just before his wrist is fully compensated. Good biceps from no limits, good surge from the storm
Years ago, I looked John up and called him, out of the blue. He talked to me for about an hour; super cool guy, and I had a great conversation with him. I will always remember his kindness and generosity.
В 60 лет люди многие не ходят на ногах. А тут человек легенда и показывает такие результаты!!! Да ларат тяжелее и младше. Но все равно два культовых рукоборца ❤
How crazy is it that two of the GOATs in the sport and old rivals are both such class acts. John doing his best when his body has failed him while Devon is letting his predecessor test himself against his old foe one last time. Amazing stuff.
