@@heavyizthacrown-5842 he was better coming outta college then Ruggs and Judy, I only see like dhop was better coming out, maybe Julio, but non of them won the hysiman
@@heavyizthacrown-5842 Huhhh ? 2x National Champ, Caught the game winning td in the Nat Championship game, Heisman winner, almost 200 yards in last years Nat championship game. Easily a top 3 college receiver ever.
He has my vote. I didn't think it was gonna get better than Julio or Amari or Jeudy and Ridley but Smith did it. He is the best out of Alabama. And my pick for Heisman. ROLL TIDE!!!
I mean jeudy has only showed flashes for now. Sorry, but I believe until he proves it, he should not be one of the best out of Alabama. He was good in college, but he's in the NFL now.
@@KameronLord12 no I'm saying when waddle went out he showed his full talent bc he ain't have as many targets I dont think waddle is better but he is good just not better than smith
I remember some DB’s last season getting asked. “I’m guessing Jeudy is the hardest bama WR to guard off the line” they were like na fam, 6 unstoppable at the line, I can’t ever get a hand onnem
Nothing amazes me after I've seen Odell's LSU highlight. That being said, he's got straight line speed & quick feet that helps him get separation quick, but no way is he getting away with that *consistently* in the NFL on day 1. Stronger corners are gonna bully him & limit his productions so he's gonna have to gain some muscle weight. Nothing DK crazy but more aligned with Chase Claypool's build to be able to fight off press coverage. Corners have too quick of a reaction to fall for those subtle moves & all they gotta do is five him space & burst on him once the ball goes his way. He's gotta win the physical battles & if he does while still having that speed, we're looking at the next Julio Jones.
He Reminds me of Amari Cooper when he was on Alabama. His route running, his Gr8 hands, the moves, and everything about him. He's gonna be a Miami Dolphins 🐬🏈 player calling it now. Reunited With Tua, and it's going to be a BEAUTIFUL thing! Let's go! Get Tua Tagovailoa some weapons!! #PhinsUp🐬🖕
Hes good I dont wanna take it away from him buuuuuuttttt imma say just like the whole year of 2020 it only makes sense that there wasnt really any standouts and this is what it came to....🤷🏼♂️
You have one job and that's to cover approx. 20% of the field and you know the offensive capability of the QB you are facing. (His pro's and con's) you seldom have to tackle and you have the added benefit of knowing there is usually a strong safety or weak safety to help you out. No way is there a comparison between playing QB and Corner in terms of toughest or value.
@@AlwaysHalloween000 you’ve never played corner before and it shows. Formations change obligations, same with base coverages. If you have a 0 blitz called and the offense is in heavy set with 1 WR. You’re covering how much of the field now.. like 80, 90% you don’t always have help. NFL teams play man well over 50% of times bc nfl qb’s no matter how good or bad shred zone defenses. The colts are a C2 based zone team and still have to run a shit ton of man otherwise it’d be a joke of a defense. Everything is a reaction. I’ve played both. Qb is a hellafied mental game and Physical one and it’s not even close to the responsibilities CB has. Not at all. And you forget “safety help” isn’t just a “I got you bro” they still have to worry about playing their own deep 3rd of the field, dividers etc..
I never understood why people say he emerged in the absence of Waddle like this man wasn't a star already. He literally led the WR core last year in the mix with Jeudy, Ruggs and Waddle.
He has insane speed, he catches every ball thrown at him, and he works hard on his routes instead of relying on the first two things. Once he hits the pros, should he stay healthy, he could be this generation's Randy Moss or even (dare I say it?) Jerry Rice. If Smith doesn't win the Heisman, I'm done with the Heisman.
As an eagles fan I came and watched this video all the time! Imagining him in midnight green catching passes from Jalen Hurts. Now that I know it’s gonna be reality I am so fucking pumped!! FLY EAGLES FLY 🦅
I'm here from the future to tell you that Devonta's potential has been limited greatly by Jalen Hurts' inaccuracy and unwillingness to throw across the middle. Some flashes of brilliance, but not many.
seriously I called him breaking out this year when he torched Derek Stingley in the LSU loss last year, I mean forget Jeudy and Ruggs, the best college cornerback in maybe the past 20 years was torched by this and still they had him falling to the second round when the season began!!!
Tears in my eyes sad to see him go but happy for him at the same time. This man is going to be legendary he's like a slim Randy Moss monster. They all will know your name.
@@MrSPIDEY21 Cause people like this only know the big names and then say “you’ll be famous like blank”, without having any idea what that receiver played like. They don’t need to know that Smith plays more like a Marvin Harrison or Isaac Bruce. Hell with his straight line speed, route manipulation, and hands, he’s more like Rice than Moss. But nah, he’ll be like Moss because some people pretend to know football.
@@MrSPIDEY21 This young man has mopped the floor with his competition at the collegiate level and he’s not done yet. He has played with different quarterbacks and he’s like Randy when the quarterback throws the ball up he goes up high to avoid an interception and get it with defenders on him like Moss would do. He’s a deep threat and his ability to get additional yards after the catch and his field awareness to make sure to get the toe tap in to complete the passing play. Both are dynamic receivers were and will be drafted in the 1st rounds. Both have set records at their positions but Devonta has to show what he can do at the professional level. I never said he does everything just like Randy Moss never said his physique is like Randy Moss. I am talking about some of things he does reminds ME of Randy Moss one of the greatest to ever play wide receiver position. We can agree to disagree case closed.
Easily the best WR in the draft elite route running, great speed, and doesn’t drop the ball. Had a field day with two of the best dbs in college Derek Stingley and Eric Stokes. Smitty will be the breakout rookie of the year in the NFL mark my words.
Yeah it's not hard to predict. People fall in love with Chase's weight. Chase needs that weight because he doesn't create the same level of separation Devonta does with his feet. I've played and coached the position for 28 years. There is no better FBS receiver I've seen. A lock. Hope he gets a quarterback. Would be awesome to reunite him with Tua.
@@Wuncler - Correct. Chase has had by far the best QB situation. Switch the two and DeVonta wins ROTY. I'll miss some but most my projections are wildly accurate. 🙂
THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES. NO ONE WILL EVER FORGET HOW IT STARTED IN THE NATIONAL CHAMP GAME. ALL THE BEST WISHES FOR YOU. WILL BE WATCHIN YOU IN THE NFL. KICKASS! RTR!
OMG!!!!!! Lord have mercy. His route running is so beautiful that makes me want to cry. He will come into the NFL and be one of the best route runners. Once he gains 20 pounds he will be borderline unstoppable.
It's the little things. Notice how he uses his arms when he's running. He pumps them in such a majestic way that allows him to just seem to glide when he is running and it helps him change direction on a dime while making it look effortless. He is a technician.
Then what?? So you can have Gardner Minshew II throwing balls to you? *LOL* 32/32 GM's would take Lawrence if they had a mediocre QB so either they are right or you are right.
I don't think I have ever seen a more smooth receiver in my life. The way he cuts and gets to top end speed it's like no change of pace almost it's UNCANNY. Well deserved heisman.
