DevOps Infra Orchestration for Cloud Native 5G and Edge Deployments - Trishan de Lanerolle, F5 Networks & Oleg Berzin, Equinix
This session will provide an overview of the infrastructure deployment considerations for supporting emerging edge applications, and how software orchestration and automation are becoming an integral part of deployment capabilities. We will introduce the Public Cloud Edge Interface project (under the Linux Foundation(LF) Edge Akraino initiative), Edge Multi-Cluster Orchestrator (EMCO - an LF Networking initiative), and provide examples of use cases showing the need for interworking between various edges such as mobile, public cloud and cloud native edge computing in support of distributed applications. We will demonstrate how the infrastructure-as-code technology could be integrated into a multi-domain orchestrator as a microservice to enable a DevOps-driven provisioning of multi-cloud IaaS/SaaS, private interconnect and bare metal resources as well as a simplified automated deployment of Kubernetes and its critical components. We will further demonstrate how cloud native 5G functions and edge applications could be deployed over the orchestrated infrastructure for an end-to-end distributed IoT application
