Unveiling of the new statue of John Devoy in Naas on 25th October 2015. Devoy was a native of Kildare and organiser in the Irish Republican Brotherhood before being exiled to the US. There he led Clan Na Gael and turned it into a powerful force in Irish and American politics. He organised the Catalpa rescue of Fenian prisoners in Australia and raised most of the funds for the 1916 rebellion.

Im a distant descendant of John Devoy but I made sure he was officially represented at the 1916-2016 Easter Rising Celebrations because he truly is a forgotten hero.

I hand about Devoy when i was searching about J P Holland who invented the submarine, i had he funded the first submarine, i would love to know more about him.

David...I have a PDF of John Devoy's handwritten will if you'd like it. My great aunts were his caretakers in his final years.
