Alexis and Lottie sit down and play through the recently released BOOK OF HOURS demo. Enjoy the lilting soundtrack, the slightly borked art and don't worry about the New King. Wishlist here! ♥ secrethistorie...
Alexis apologizes to any egyptologists in the audience, and my first thought is like, "Your game is set in 1930s England. Vaguely egyptian sounding things that are actually just stuff made up by a white person is literally just being true to the times."
02:27 "..rarely is that dread deserved.." "which means sometimes it is. Fair enough" My feelings during many of my hours in Cultist Simulator. Slash, I'm very much looking forward to Book of Hours. And, with much Passion and little Reason, hope to get into the next beta test.
The whole surviving shipwreck and swimming to shore with a book in tow reminds me of a common myth/piece of folklore associated with the most famous portuguese epic poem "Os Lusíadas" in which the author (Luis de Camões) survives shipwreck and manages to swim to shore, also book in tow, to salvage the manuscript of his life's greatest work ^^
I played The demo about two days ago. I appreciate the music, ambiance and narrative. Reminds me of Sunless Skies… and I’m in love with the Cultist Sim theme remixed. (The "Those are pearls that were her eyes" song)
Thank you for the recording! I love your work and will definitely buy this the day it launches. Beautiful soundtrack as well! EDIT: Oh, and last time I checked (it may have been a while) you were not married. Congratulations :)
Cool stuff! So, one thing that can see from this is that memories will be implemented more neatly. In the beginning it's feels actually nice to take a single bad infuence such as "fear" early: so new players will see that not all resources are safe -- and old players will see that it's not so deadly as before, and will likely check new aspects on these cards. Also having memories, with specific mystic aspects, play into the capabilities makes memories as in-game concept more apparent. In "CS", mechanically speaking, there was not much purpose for cards to even have "memory" aspect, except for gameplay of "Medium?" legacy and commiting to Elegist lore. But now it just better narrative: memories on themselves are what defines a character, and when processed accordingly they become an expertise
i.ll be honest with ya , you 2 are the best sleeping aid on youtube. its not a bad thing , its just normal for me to fall asleep during a long video , even movies that go on for hours it really knocks me out
Tried the new game + in cultist. I died to fascination 7 mins into the game realtime. I'm already looking foward to the full release! Unfortunately I need to buy new notebook since mine won't make it till the release. Anyways Excited!
I was missing a highlights of the icons. And there was a weird thing using the cursors where it would just slide off to one side of the screen. Overall I like the game and have been looking forward to it. But I found it very confusing to figure it out - there was a lot of random clicking around. I needed to play a trial run, spoiling the game, and then go back and play more efficiently.
This game seems to share a lot of narrative and lore with the Cultist. I finished it once, liked the vibe but a lot of it went over my head. Do I need to replay it?
Nope! BOOK OF HOURS is designed for both people who've no idea what the Secret Histories are or why they should care, and people with 500 hours in Cultist Sim. :) It's also hopefully going to give the same vibe as Cultist Sim, but with less stress / mechanical blockers. So it sounds like it's probably up your street!
@@weatherfactory Thanks! I got to replaying Clutist to get my head around lore. It's nice to know that Book will be less punishing, and having a village map helps anchor you in the world. Definitely looking forward to this.
Interesting. I love the concept of cultist simulator and early game but can't continue at some point... too grindy, too much timers everywhere... Sometimes I think you still carry some flaws from Fallen London / Sunless sea since I have the same problem with these games. I hope I can appreciate this game. I'm curious to know what you think of GPT and other language models and their application to games.
well long ago i had a tough time , untill i kept going at it with determination i got a bit further but eventually i died . i love it for the reading ,.and i also pretend im living all the lives of those who want to run a cult or something ....never give up
I feel like (Alexis?) needs to slow down his conversation by 25% percent. You're tumbling all over your words. Now, granted, maybe this is a British thing? But it makes it very difficult to understand when words are basically being combined with very little 'space' between them.
