Massive thumbs up for this tip...worked for me....no lights on the charger, no charge in the battery. Jumped it as described and it immediately started charging
Thanks so much! This totally worked for me on my DCB203BT battery pack. It wouldn't show any lights when the check button was pressed, and when plugged into the charger, it wouldn't show any lights either. Did not even attempt to charge or give me any indication what the issue was. Was online looking for how to contact DeWalt for a warranty replacement when I came across your video. Simple solution that just worked! Thanks again.
This is the quickest fix I did today. Thanks for showing this. I had a 20V 5AH battery that just stopped charging. Battery is dead when tested and charger does not blink. Roughly I would say, the battery is just about 1year or so old. I know my charger is working since my other batteries are getting charged. Anyway, I did what is shown here. You will see a small spark when you connect the negative, B-. I repeated it twice just for curiosity and I did not see the same spark. Plugged it into the charger and it worked! Thank you very much.
I had a 2 month old 20v 5AH battery that wouldn’t even light up on the charger. This little trick worked perfectly and saved me from having to get another battery. Thanks dude!!!!
just got sent a new Bluetooth dewalt battery and it was dead, they sent me a new one and told me to dispose of old one! I thaught it's worth a try and did this, turns out it wasn't dud just dead but now it's working just fine, thank you so much, Tom UK (5star)
This totally worked for me! I have a brand new dewalt 20v 5mah battery that comes with the dewalt blower. It had been charged once. It was totally dead and wouldn’t take a charge. I used this method and worked like the video. Saved me from a trip to the store to return the blower/battery. Thanks!
WOW!! I just tried it on 2 batteries that have been sitting overnight and not showing a good charge. After performing this, i sat them on the chargers for a few minutes, and BAM! they were responding as if they were fully juiced!! Thanks alot!!
So helpful! Thanks for taking the trouble to share this - it worked straight away. Be careful not to leave the wires connected more than very briefly as it allows a huge amount of current to flow
This really works! Had a battery pack that came with a drill a year ago. Was never able to charge it. After trying this technique, the battery changed normally. Thanks!!
I tried this at work , and it worked , the battery began to charge, thank you very much it saved me from buying a new battery, still dont understand how that made it charge but it worked , again thanks a lot
Amazing! You saved me money, not having to run over Lowes or Home Depot to buy another battery. Where did you learn this? You're amazing! Thanks a bunch! 👍👍👍
Hi - I did this and it worked well - my battery did not even have a light - and same issue guys used a Dewalt light which drained it dead - thanks great tip
Thank for your video. I just jumped my non-charging battery and now the charger is recognizing it and it indicated that it is changing. I'll leave it on the charger for several hours and see what happens. Thanks again.
I had 2 dead Dewalt 12 volt batteries that were dead like this and I didn’t have a charged 12 v battery to jumpstart it with. I just used one of those jumpstarters for cars and it worked!
Great tip! However, if this is happening, it's due to the voltage of one of the cells dropping just below 3.7V indicating that it's starting to fail. This trick will keep you going for a while but it will eventually need replacing. That is when the one (or two) cells drops to near 0V and the charger won't pass a charge current through the pack.
I hooked up wires after watching about half the video. (no lights would light up on my newer Dewalt DCB-115 charger at all) I hooked up the wires and they sparked when I did. He didn't have sparks. I let it sit for a few seconds and the wires got really hot. (like really hot really fast) The battery did take a charge though! It did work. I don't think I would leave the wires connected for very long.
you are a genius, thought my battery was destined for battery heaven but I did this and now it's fine. Shame I bought another battery in the meantime though.
Heat the battery up and achieve the same result. I live in Perth Western Australia which is a hot place and put the battery in the sun on a 25C day for 1 hour and that was enough to kick start the charging process. If your in a cold place then maybe use an oven at a “very low temperature” for two minutes at a time and see what happens. I know some other engineer will say the Lithium ion battery could explode and “that is true” if you leave it in the oven too long so please be sensible and do not leave the oven when doing this. Do not use a microwave!!!!
This worked perfectly. I think mine were more dead then yours I tried your 1 second touch and got nothing. It worked perfectly when I did a 10 second connection.
Worked for dewalt flex volt 60/20v . I used another flex volt battery to jump start. I don't know if I could of used one of my dewalt 20 volt batteries to jump the 60 volt??? . Didn't have to find out. My flex volt batteries had only been recharged 6-7 times and were past return date. So you saved me at least $108.00 and my time .Thanks.
Thank you I saved $249 for DEWALT 40-volt Max-Amp Hours Rechargeable Lithium Ion Cordless Power Equipment Battery. Yours trick work excellent. Again Thank you soooo much!!!!!!!
I have 2 dewalt 12v batteries that are dead and won’t charge and an 18v that is fully charged. Is it safe to “jumpstart” the 12v with the 18v like you did here? Thanks!
Just blew my good battery up as well not good!!! Followed it to a tee as well. Can I have blown the fuse board? Don’t want to try kick start it again off another battery?
Awesome man!! Thank you so much. I have 2 year old dcb203. Did the trick and it work perfect. I only had 12g wire. I lightly hammered down the ends to they would fit in the into the slots.
draining the batteries till they are completely dead will damage the battery according to dewalt... Dewalt recommends the moment you feel slight power loss in the battery to let it cool for 2 hours then charge it for 8 hours. let it cool after charging before use.
Bought a two pack of batteries one worked perfectly the other I couldn’t even get to start charging I jumped them and now it’s charging up nicely! Thank you!
Worked for me! One of my 20v MAX batteries was reading 6.7v on a meter. Charger wouldn't even recognize that it was there. Drills and impact would flash the little white LED when pulling the triggers, but that was it. Gave it a jump start from my good battery, using your method, and now the charger is charging it. I've never run the batteries down this low from use in the three years that I've had them. Only explanation I can think of is that the tools go into a soft carry bag--one of the triggers must have became depressed against one of the other tools, and drew it down too far. I now take the batteries off of the tools before putting them into the bag. Thanks for posting this!
I can't believe this was my problem with a brand new battery. I've had DeWalt batteries and tools for over a decade now, NEVER ONCE have I pushed it down to where it clicks like that and they've been charging all this time just fine. Get the new one and it wouldn't charge. Now it does. Crazy....thanks.
Just did this with a battery I bought with drill on clearance. Display model. I put it on charger and didn't even blink. I "jumped" it with a good battery for 10 seconds. Put it on the charger and bam! It works! Was just using that batter in the drill last night. Thanks for the tip! Thumbs up to you!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! RU-vid should have some kind of an Award for you and your video. I've never seen a video that helped so many people save some Major bucks!
