Hi, Just wanted to give you my opinion. I purchased this dewalt palm sander a couple of weeks ago at Lowe's on a special buy. Purchase the tool and get a free charger and the new 3.0ah compact battery. It was deal and i couldn't pass it up. This palm sander is great and well worth it. I still have my dewalt corded when i have to sand a lot indoors. Man, this cordless palm sander help me alot. Especially when i don't have to pull out the cord. The new 3.0ah battery works great and comfortable with this unit. Worth buying it. Thanks for the video
Deal Still goin on, today is 7/13/19, $119 for the sander, get a free 3ah battery and charger, was $138 out the door including tax here in SC....saw online at Lowes, picked up I. Store same day! ($128 not 138)
Here it is 4 years later and I just bought this sander last night. It came with the sander, charger, 4amp battery, and the bag for $129 at Lowes. Haven’t had a chance to try it yet so watched your video. Gotta say I laughed when that sander started itself and the look is n your face hahaha. I agree with another commenter that DeWalt should supply hard cases with the XR tools. That said, now that its been 4 years since your video, how has that sander held up? Still working ok?
I opted to buy the Harbor Freight Bauer 20v Random Orbital Sander for $40, a 3.0 ah battery for $40, and the charger for $20. On a full charge, the sander ran for approximately 40 minutes. For the price of a 3.0 ah DeWalt battery, I got an entire Bauer kit. The warranty on the Bauer is also a whole lot better.
Yeah, it comes down to what brand you already have. If you have Dewalt etc., it wouldn’t make sense to buy into the Harbor Freight cordless just to save a few bucks.
I bought 10 pieces Dewalt’s tools for $549 from Lowe’s I finished hardwood floors stairs... and more projects to come :) the sander is awesome for Sanding the stair treads
Cordless is always the way to go, I consider, Mark. I own this model (altho' in the UK & Republic of Ireland, it is classified as a DW210-XJ) - the 'B' model has the battery mounted perpendicular to the vertices of the body, whereas the 'XJ' is mounted in line to that self same vertical; your version may be a US configuration - either way, it's an extremely efficient sander - & the bonus being, replaceable hook & loop pads. Nice, brief review, thank you :)
Not at all, Mark - so, they're producing a quarter sized cordless, too ? I confess, I've been a little out of the loop - I'll look for your review when you post it - grateful thanks, Andrew :)
@@andrewtongue7084 Yes, I'm not sure if that sander is out on the market yet. Sometimes I get tools before they're released. I'm guessing this one just came out.
Mine just started spinning constantly but didn't do the random orbital motion! The center cap where the belt goes round has a weight in there that a screw goes through that supposed to make it do this. But I've gone through 2 further belts now which is annoying and I think it's something to do with this inside. Should it have grease in there to make it spin? Because mine seems stiff and stuck! When I screw the weight off it seems great but just spins obviously. Any suggestion to stop it bursting belts would be great. Many thanks Ian.
I like your videos and I have to help my fellow mid Michiganders any way I can so I subscribed and hit the bell, I'm in Arenac County so any Home Depot, Lowes or Menards I go to is a drive, I hate the HD in West Branch, Hate driving through Midland, Bay City is a good store but small they have maybe half the tools the store on Bay Rd, (M-84) in Saginaw has, I find that store has most everything I need in stock.
Thanks for subscribing! I haven't been to those stores. I'm curious how long a delivery takes if you order online from Home Depot. Near Lansing, I sometimes get delivery in 1 day, which I'm happy about.
Harbor Freight's Bauer brand has one for $50.00. Can work with 12v power cord or a battery. I have mine on a 3.0 ah battery that only costs $40. On a full charge, it can inflate the tires of 2 Ford Econoline vans to their recommended pressures (front: 60 psi, rear: 80 psi). And when the battery dies, plug it into the 12v port. It also has high volume output for inflating air mattresses, pool toys, etc., and can also act as a dust blower for your workbench.
That is shipped to HD btw. I would rather have it shipped there than have it sitting at my front door. It's a safe enough neighborhood but I don't mind and I walk around the store for a few minutes...
Hi Mark...thanks 4 great videos that always help me with my tool purchases. I go with Dewalt 20v cordless brushless in almost all cases. Speaking of cases. As much as I love Dewalt products, my pet peeve with them: why don’t they have better cases for their high end tools. My 3 latest purchases: grinder, orbital sander (same as n this video) and the jigsaw all came sans a hard box. Space is a huge issue 4 me; I live n a tiny home. Do u have any suggestions for a hard case(s) for my latest dewalt cordless tools? Thanks and keep up the great work😀
Nice review! Do you think the weight is going to be too much using it on ceilings and on ladder where you are stretched out with it a lot? Especially for long periods of time
I just checked the Home Depot website and it shows 6 days for delivery. I often get things in 1-2 days though. It does take much longer to get it shipped to the store for some reason.
Hi I purchased this cordless dcw210 sander today at Home Depot and it only last 10 minutes and it stopped working and I turned it on again and it stopped in about 5-10 second, any ideas what might be problem? The battery is full. Thank you in advance.
That doesn't sound normal. Does your battery work well in other tools? My switch was a little weird at first, but now it works better after lots of use. This is my favorite sander, so I recommend you exchange it if you can determine if the problem is in the unit itself. Please let me know how it goes, I'm curious to see how this pans out.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I bought the battery and sander at the same time which are brand new for both. I brought back to Home Depot today and had someone there look at it for me and they told me to get them return or exchange, so I decided it to give it another try but it turned out same thing that why I am looking for answers online . I will try to call their 1800 number to see they can troubleshoot it for me or I will return them again for good this time .
I am going to have to stop watching your videos because they are getting expensive for me. First, I saw the Worx axis video, next thing I know, I spent a lot of "scratch" on worx stuff. Now, dewalt is costing me a fortune. Lol. I just got this sander at a recent sale at a lowes BOGO free. I bought 2 5.0ah batteries for $199.99 and got this free. I wanted another tool, the router, but it was gone as well as an angle grinder. I have a couple of sanders, but figured, WTH. Another dewalt toy to add to the mix. Havdn't tried it out yet, but hopefully will soon. Maybe one day I'll demonstrate my all my toys. Thanks and GOD Bless.
It's hard to give a definitive answer without seeing it. I'm guessing it's just a thin layer of glue? I've seen the Diablo Sandnet discs that might work well in this sander. I've seen them demonstrated by Diablo at a Home Depot event and they impressed me. I will probably buy some the next time I'm out shopping. It it were me, I'd use a pressure washer first and then try sanding later, if needed. I'd recommend a medium or fine grit sandpaper.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: Does your current sander have a cord that seems to get in the way? Would it be worth the money to go cordless and bring the sander to the work, instead of the work to the sander?
Apparently they use the same switch that's in my corded sander. I think I bought my sander over 15years ago and the switch has been a problem since day one. Difficult to turn on and off. Will randomly start just like the one you're testing. Called Dewalt about the problem and they did nothing for me. I'm just one of those ignorant consumers who doesn't no how to use power tools.
Corded grinders suck. Great for a quick cut on the rush but they are not a replacement for corded ones in my opinion. The sander would be awesome cordless though! I need one of these!
