I just got the same saw, what a beast. But throw the thin kerf blade away and put a regular blade on. The tool has more than enough power and the blade doesn't wobble around in the cut. Excellent channel 👍

Hi James. I have actually put a slightly thicker kerf blade in as I have noticed it can wander in the cut a little with the thin ones in. 🤩 Puts a smile on my face every time I use it now.😎 Thanks for watching and your great comment.👍

Looks like a great piece of kit.. I have the makita 36v brushless circular saw and I used it to cut a large roof with 200x45 rafters and valley jacks etc.. The cordless tools now are amazing.. As you mentioned in the video it's all about keeping the blade sharp and having fresh batteries available.. Keep up the good work fella, cheers.

Hi Jim. I hope I don't come across as giant DeWalt fanboy, as I'm not tied to any brand in particular. I suppose what I am now seeing in the new cordless tools is what many have been seeing for a while now, and maybe I've just got left behind a little. These type of powerful saws and cordless tools really do mean that you can properly, 'cut to cord', with no loss of power or efficiency. Nice to read that someone is still doing a few, 'hand cut', roofs as it seems that more and more people lack the skill and knowledge to tackle complex roof structures. (I'm part of this problem as I haven't finished a single apprentice). Thanks for your comment. Cheers.

@@thetallcarpenter no problem, you don't come across as a fan boy but, if you choose a particular platform then you can get stuck with it.. Its makita with me as I find the range good.. Just bought a 190mm 36v chopsaw.. Great saw for everyday use.. Still got my corded dewalt monster though.. I agree with the lack of skill in the younger chippies when it comes to hand cut roofs.. But we're 35 years veterans... All the best fella, cheers.

@@thetallcarpenter Great to know, thanks! Ive heard others say they dont think much of the XR blade, saying it doesnt make use of the power as well as other blades and it can leave a the surface splintered / chipped. @thetallcarpenter
@thetallcarpenter 2 года назад
@@eirenwhelan3312 I found the DeWalt 190mm blade with a 1.65mm kerf is the sweet spot for this saw, (and pretty cheap). I don't, necessarily think its the 1.5mm kerf of the Extreme runtime blade that comes with the DCS578, but more the stiffness of the saw body/plate due to the expansion slots that are cut into it🤔

I've owned the 575 for a couple years, and consider it to be very powerful. Even during ripping it still retains almost full rpm. The build-quality is also excellent. But the saw is heavy! I swapped it out with a DCS565, which it seems like almost no one is using. In my opinion you should buy the track-compatible saw once you go right-blade, otherwise I'd stick with left-blade. One complaint I have about 190mm saws is that they usually are used with thin-kerf blades. These blades are unstable, and terrible for ripping plates on freehand.
@thetallcarpenter
@thetallcarpenter 3 года назад
Hi there. Your comment is really interesting. Having used the DCS578 a fair bit now, yes, its crazy powerful, but is a handful to keep to a line. I did wonder if the blade is a little too thin and lacking stability when coupled with such a powerful saw.😣 Your comment is prompting me to fit a slightly wider kerf blade and see how I get on.💪 It may affect run times, but I've got a few extra batteries. I have also been looking into replacing the base for the track saw one. Its not that expensive, and only has a few bolts to undo to swap it.😎 Thanks for your comment and for watching.👍 Cheers.

I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but the plate/body of the blade is thicker on the wider kerf blade, which, obviously, is where the increased rigidity comes from, plus they probably dissipate heat better maintaining plate/body stiffness whilst cutting👍I'm doing a video on it soon👊Thanks for watching😎Cheers Del
