You sir, are the MAN!! ...been fixing, modifying and adapting things for 30+yrs and you my friend (and name sake), frankly impress the shit out of me! A master giving a Masterclass... appreciate and enjoy your knowledge and experience. Keep them videos coming! Cheers
My own dewalt nail gun - has just died...not firing. Its built 2.5 houses for me :-) - watching your video has given me hope it can be repaired. It is my favourite tool 🙂 I'm in France unfortunately or would have sent to you - I'll find an enthusiastic local. Thank you so much
This is a great video. It was much better and faster, than going through dewalt for warranty service on a brand new nailer that only shot about 15-20 nails before the tip of the driver rod broke. Although it took me longer than it does you, I was able to get my nailer working again. The two springs and the rods for the driver are the hardest items to line up. Can I ask that you go over the switches a little better? As in how they should be set and so that everything goes together the correct way. I had to take my case apart twice, once for the switch on the bottom for single fire or multiple firing of nails. Then for the lock out button next to the trigger. Other than that, I find you did a great job filming and going step by step. Thank you
Good lad! Mine fokked up a while back so i straightened the pin and touched it to a grinder to square its head. Put about another 5000 pins through it but today it fokked proper. This helps, Thank you!
Hi, I had a loan of my friends DeWalt 18v XR and it stopped firing last night 😭 I think it's the strike pin as it spools up fine, but the nails 1st came out half arsed, then they would barely pop out 10mm. I figured something has worn as this big guy built my double garage, 2 x 20mtr long fences and 2/3 of the deck frame. I can get a strike pin for it. Should I lube the parts with graphite powder before replacing as it looks dry. We use graphite powder in lock systems with no adverse effects. Thanks for your epic video's. You ARE the boss 😎
Hi, had broken pin as shown her but the DeWalt Retainer N376266 is also broken. Cant see where this should go. You have video on this or link to diagram showing exact position. The first part was easy but don’t want to take stuff off that not need to add the retainer
Excellent video. Mine fires sometimes and not others Very annoying. Does that sound like I need to do the same, where do I get parts? I’m in Newcastle England. It’s fired 18000 nails from new.
Brilliant video Dean, I have that exact same model , but unfortunately it’s not working. Im almost 100% sure that it’s the control module that’s faulty. Would you know of anywhere I could get a used one?.. I know the part is no longer available new.. cheers again
Mine fires intermittently, thought it might be the trigger but this makes a lot more sense, the light flashing to let you know how much it has been used is invaluable. Great video,Thanks.
Hello Dean, Her a comment from the Netherlands. I saw your video on RU-vid and now I have a question. I own a DeWalt tacker, dcn660p2. When I press the safety it starts humming, but it won't fire. I can't imagine that the pin is broken because it don't even make a sound other then rhe normal hum.
My firing pin seems to fire past the nails sometimes. then other times it just bends the nails and jambs. such a pain in the ass. Do I nee to renew this full assembly too. Its a pain going into oak and i do a load of oak. Im almost ready to sell it and buy a new 1. But if its an easy fix then Ill do it. Whats the part number please. Thank you, Or will it be something ese totaly? Im in scotland
Hey mate, i have the 18g tjat stopped firing right in the middle of a job. I thought it hit something hard. But i opened it up . Drive pin has mo bad wear marks, flywheel spins up. I spun it by hand and pushed down and it grabbed no problems so seems it no going down to grab the driver. Would you say roller? Thanks for any help.
Hi dean Loved your video I have a nearly new dcn660 just over a year old but had problems with misfire from the start can I ask is there a chance it could be the nails that I use that would cause the gun to miss fire Thanks Harry from Glasgow
Nice video Dean I see you are an expert in your field of work. I was hoping you could help. I was given one of these as it was faulty, the hammer is sticking after every shot, so following this tutorial I stripped it down and found one of the springs was broken. I have just replaced the springs today and reassembled. Hammer blade returns everytime, only now when the nail is fired into the wood the head of the nail is left protruding by about 3mm and the blade is riding over the nail head and penetrating the wood ? I have looked at a parts diagram and noticed parts 113 plates are missing from the rod ends that locate into the housing and part 156 retainer. Also noticed the blade spring tensioner on top is locked solid, should that be adjustable? Also have a 618k where the hammer will stick intermittently, mainly when there is a cartridge swap over in the magazine, could that just be new return rubber bands needed as they feel very limp at rest? Any advice cheers.
Thank you much for your great videos. I have a DeWalt 20 V 15 ga nailer that when you press the trigger and press it on wood it revs up then dies. I tested the actuator and it's good. Do any of your videos cover this? Thanks again
Hey Dean. Once again coming to you for advice. (Circular saw issue previously) Saw this video, great work as always. On my fairly new gun, same model the pin seems to be stuck outwards and i cant seem to retract it? Can you help please.? 🤷♂️ Kind regards, Rob.
Pull the black lever on the side. And pust the pin in with a flat screwdriver to see if it springs back. If it still won't go back, the return springs inside may have broken
Hi dean Got a similar problem with this pin gun. If I depress and fire it works but won't fire again unless I clear the jam mechanism and fires again. So I'm constantly clearing and wondering if it's a bent or damaged firing pin. Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks Johnny Fleming
Hi Dean quick question I hope you can help with, above nail gun I had the same issue changed the firing pin as it broke but now seems way over powered and sinking nails in to deep even when setting it to shallow depth, how can I fix it? Regards Simon.
Hi Dean! I’m new to repair. I have nail gun dewalt dcn680 18 ga and it stopped firing. Can u help me with my problem, just don’t know who else to ask. It’s fairly new. If we can do video chat I can probably fix myself under your watch, I’m handy girl. I’ll pay for your service. 😊 Thank you 😊
Hi I have a dcn661-xe. The pin on my gun broke got a replacement one but unfortunately not the right one. The one I have received it’s a bit wide on the shank so I can’t fit it on. Would happen to know what model pin I need? Cheers
Hey question, I have this same nail gun and its hassnt had but 50 nails shot through it. Now the caution lights for a jam flash everytime i pull the trigger. Wont shoot. Any ideas?
Please tell me the model # to Dewalts newest cordless 15 gauge angled nail gun. Im googling model #s from home depot, but the models there are ~5 years old. any help , greatly appreciated.
Hi my nail gun doesn’t fire at all, the fly wheel spins but won’t fire a nail. Makes the sound as if it has fired the nail. Be it weaker than the usual furring sound. Is this something similar to this problem. Thank you
How do you remove the actual nail cartridge as it for some reason really hard to get a strip of nails in and the spring leaver doesn't lock at the bottom m8?
Hi I have the dewalt finishing nails gun it still fires ok but if you fill her with nails it seems the nails don't feed in smoothly and it misfires and have to push the nails down if only half filled with nails it's fine .is it on its way out or is it worth getting it looked at.thanks
May simple be your switch. Put it into bump mode and pull the trigger. It the motor dose not start up the trigger is dirty inside. Open it up and wash out the switch with contact cleaner
@@deandohertygreaser The motor starts but it does not release the nail, because it think the safety relay does not deactivate the safety ore so it seems
@@deandohertygreaser have cleaned the switch and replaced the activation part that goes from the nos to the safety switch in the nalle gun, now it works most of the time but still if i put it on automatic and wiggle it around a bit or turn it will stop working, do you have any ideas for me?
Thanks for this. Unfortunately this isn’t the issue with mine as when I pull the trigger it’s just the motor that runs and nothing else. I’ve heard it could be a problem with the trigger? Anyway now I’ve seen your cid I’m more confident taking it to bits now so cheers for that fella.
Hi, I have the dcn680 the pin fires but then doesn't retract and gets jammed. I have taken it apart and all looks fine. Have you had this issue before, is it something you can fix?
