Yes, I worked there for about 2 years, and while I'm Very happy to recommend Sweetwater for all your music gear needs, enthusiastically... and happy to talk to anyone who wants to ask questions privately, I don't intend to make any videos about what it was like working there. It was a wonderful, wonderful experience, and also extremely challenging personally and professionally for me. I have NOTHING but good things to say about the company, the people who run the company and the many sales engineer and hundreds of other staff - but it is a personal experience I don't wish to publicize for views.

Very interesting and useful, many thanks. The only piano sound they have that doesn't exhibit some rather annoying sonic elements to my ears is the USA PLT sound. I do think that is a pretty good, useable and versatile sound. I had an earlier iteration of a Dexibell and the Platinum sounds when they were released were a big disappointment for me. The German piano is just badly recorded and the piano sounds like it's got issues to me (excessively metallic), The Italian is boxy and French piano is toylike and 'plinky plonky' in the midrange. I expected the Japan to have a wonderful Yamaha-like immaculate expansiveness (like the CFX voice on your YC) but it's quite flawed. The pianos don't sustain for long enough in the mid and upper ranges. I can't hear much proper natural string or damper resonance like you get in Nord's sounds (also BADLY lacking in the CP/YC ranges). With Dexibell I always want to like them and I admire what they're trying to do but they just seem to miss the mark for me. Leaving aside personal preferences about piano tone I would also say they are a little bit too expensive.
Hi, I’m glad I’m not the only one to actually not really like the Dexibell piano sounds. Also have the SX8, but with a Yamaha CP88 as controller. Especially the damper sounds are way too present. And I also experience the metallic tone on some of the piano’s. Anyways… kind of bought the SX8 for the piano’s, but I’m definitely keeping it for the orchestral sounds. And I love that you can use soundfonts on it - only thing is that it’s quite hard to find good ones.
Interesting statement, this thing isn't cheap and you'd expect a professional sound you can use in productions right away. Since I haven't heard one live (I don't fully trust the sound as heard on RU-vid), I can't judge it. Do you have any experience with the GEM RP-X? It's quite affordable used and seems to offer some usable sounds as well.
@@meilstone Yes, I owned the RP-X module back in the day. Good for its time but I wouldn't go there now, unless it was very cheap. The piano sound was a highly manipulated single velocity layer sample with (for its day) advanced filtering applied to get some believable timbral change according to playing velocity. There were two main piano voices, a big sounding Fazioli and a Steinway that to my ears had a very nice tonality but was lacking in really good dynamics.
@@MostEasterlySteve Thanks for sharing this info, I haven't come across any better budget alternatives and judging from several videos featuring the Acuna 88 + RP-X, I think I can live with the minor shortcomings... I'm not gonna use it for concert performances anyway but more to give a touch of acoustic elements to electronic music. :-)
