OMG!! When I first heard the first few notes, I thought this is definitely a real grand piano placed inside a box. I love my Roland gear. But after hearing this, I'm soooo tempted to ditch my RD300sx and snag this up.
I agree. Some of the very best samples I've heard. I did another video with ALL the Dexibell piano samples, and while I don't care for a few...nearly all of them are extremely good.
@@benallen5967 so newer rolands prior to modeling, started having this metallic sound, and much prior to that this did not exist , in the roland fp4/ fp7 days...than the metallic sound made it worse, then they moved to modelling, which is a total crap shot. The fp7 fp4 pianos sounded very much like steinways like this does.
So good. Can you use it with multiple controllers too? For instance, bass pedals for that taurus synth vibe, drawbars for the hammond, a faderpack for volume and such, etc.
Hi Ben, how do you feel about the organs? I also have the SX8 and I see you adjusted the rotary to make it more realistic. ;-) I’m fine with how it sounds, but I really miss the handson control of drawbars, vibrato and percussion settings. Therefore considering a Crumar D9X controller but they’re quite expensive.
Sorry for the late reply! I returned my SX8, but the organs are quite passable in a mix. They aren’t great solo. I’d point you to B3-X or VB3 for the easiest “b3 in a box” option. If you are going for the Crumar… I’d say check out the Hammond M, or Crumar Mojo before you buy a dedicated drawbar controller.
@@benallen5967 yes, the organs aren’t great solo. But I don’t play organs too much to justify a seperate organ-centered keyboard. Used to have a Korg CX-3 but didn’t use it. I think I will keep the SX8, because of the nice orchestral sounds it is capable of. Why did you return it?
Looks like I might've found the perfect sound module for my Kawai VPC-1 grand piano controller. Just checked Sweetwater and it says "in-stock" so I think this is the way I'll go and get rid of this computer.
It isn't a bad way to go.. but for the price, I don't personally think it offers enough, and I only ended up liking two of the pianos. My personal preference is for Nord for piano sounds. I also like Yamaha, but the Montage M I have, still can't compete with my Nord for pianos. Just my thoughts.
I have the SX7 and although the sounds are decent, the patch memory is ludicrously small. Af=dding ten new presets from their website maxed out the unit and they have some piano presets that require the entire patch memory. Has the memory been expanded?
3.2 GB in comparison 1.5GB on the SX7. Also 3 efx per part and the organ engine is now included along with Bluetooth midi and audio. Loading speed has improved significantly. What used to be 47 seconds for a full 1.5GB is now around 26 seconds for 3.2GB.
Rhythm during the demo is cool, but we also want to see suspended layers of AC pianos and mainly EP with transitions between sustained chords. Take this tip.
