John Lithgow talks about catching up with the series knowing where the season takes his character, the Trinity Killer. From the Comic-Con 2009 Dexter Panel. New season premieres Sunday September 27th.
John Lithgow is an all round nice guy and a fantastic actor. He is probably the best villain in the entire Dexter series and he outsmarted Dexter in the end not many actors got to that in the show!!!
You can tell John is very experienced with the whole questions process. He can turn a crappy question like asking how working with the cast was into a super interesting in depth monologue about his experience with the show as a whole. Seems like a great guy
Due to the fact I love John Lithgow, I am not going to finish watching this. And I'll start renting Dexter on DVD from season one. I don't want any spoilers, and I want to experience the same coolness everybody else must have experienced seeing his character get introduced to the show.
I always wonder if they wrote it with him in mind, specifically? Then again, he’s just that skilled, and the quality of his work is always THAT good. “Hello... Dexter Morgan”. HeebieJeebies...
John Lithgow is awesome!!! Dexter's brother was scary, i loved Lila and Miguel but Trinity is just so scary as fuck!! It will be hard to top this season.... Bravo Showtime!! Bravo!!
He knew everything that was going to happen before the cast and Julie was there smiling and had no idea that she was going to be the one getting the ax. LOL!
I've always preferred reading to watching a show or a movie. However, there are so many layers and so much depth to this show. I's so amazingly gripping, and I can't stop watching- like a book you can't put down!
Here's the 2 sentences: 1) "My family and I are aliens from another planet sent to Earth to study human behavior." And 2) "I'm keeping a Bigfoot in my home that I found in the woods."
In an interview, Julie said she was surprised when she got the news but with Lithgow saying "two sentences... this room would explode" I feel like she probably could have put 2 and 2 together. I mean, in the series, she was the only big character that would likely have signigicant interaction with Lithgow that could be expendable.
So cool to watch this less than a week before the season finale. :o) Afterwards I'm going to come back here and speculate on what those "2 sentences" are that he mentions in the beginning. Anyone who's never seen an evil JL until now should check out Raising Cain, he's just as delicious in that movie as he is here. I wonder if he ever reads these comments? :oD
After season 4 wrapped, Michael C. Hall and John Lithgow explained in an interview that the writing staff had written alternate, false endings to Season 4 to not only throw off fans, but the cast as well. No one knew about the plot twist in the season finale until, literally, the day of shooting. So even if Julie thought she knew something, she didn't.
"I could actually speak two sentences right now which would make this entire building explode...but I'm not going to". So what are these 2 sentences that Lithgow would say and shock us, considering that at that time the interview took place, the audience haven't a clue about the upcoming season...
Quick, which movie is this Lithgow line from? "Home! Home! Well, I'ma feelin' so broke up, I wanna go home." (in a pseudo-Italian accent and I might have just given it away there.)
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (John Lithgow is Dr. Emilio Lizardo/Lord John Whorfin) iconic and amazingly eccentric role in a perfect combination of imagination and creativity and absurdity which is that movie. "I want to make a call to a Mr. John BigBooty at Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems over in Grover's Mill." perfect
excellent character. i had never even watched dexter before up until a week ago. when i read that lithgow was playing a bad guy in this show, i started watching.
He's great, huge! He should play a part on The Big Bang Theory as a mad professor (a sort of Physics Prof. Dick Solomon in 3rd Rock from the Sun) in a sort of love-anger relationship with Sheldon Cooper. It would be AMAZING! :D
indeed, but I saw an interview with him and at comic con he ment that 1st his daughter is the reporter and 2nd lundy will be shot. the decision that rita will die wasnt clear until the shot that very episode. so at comic con even the writer didnt know that :)
Julie Benz is the only one not laughing and Jennifer Carpenter gives a reassuring look to Julie as if almost "you okay?" and Julie gives a look back, "yeah, I'm okay he killed me and everyone is laughing about it even though they don't know." Ah, body language, if ONLY I paid the slightest attention to it then....guess who's paying attention to this year's Dexter comic con panel LOL
Lithgow plays Walter Simmons, a middle-aged serial killer who's been active all over the U.S. for three decades. As I understand it, he will meet Dexter and they will discuss his ability to stay hidden for such a long time.
