My wife and I binge-watched this show recently, all 8 seasons in about 1 month. It is definitely one of the best shows I've ever watched. It's so good that I keep thinking, how did I not know about this show sooner, and I really feel for all of you who had to wait for the next week, or season to find out what happened next.
Michael Hayes right! I just finished watching 8 seasons in a week!! just found out it was on for 8 years!! I had no clue Lmao but I do remember that going to commercial scene when it was on TV but never actually saw the show.
It started really strong, maintained it for 5 seasons.... then nosedived about as badly as it's possible to nosedive. By the end, I was glad it was over.
When everybody started cheering after Michael C. Hall was introduced, I immediately thought of the very last scene from the first season, when Dexter imagines what it would be like if the world applauded his tendency to "take out the trash." It was weird that Doakes would clap, though.
they could have left it open on whether or not recovers from the vegetative state. cruel to connect the scene where deb says dex that he should pull her life support in case she ends up like camila
i spent almost 100 hours watching this series so I could watch Dexter abandon his son and do a bad Paul Bunyan impersonation in the last 5 minutes. seems legit.
Masuka (C.S Lee) and Harry (James Remar) definitely should have been there. They were two of the only cast members who appeared in all 8 seasons of Dexter.
so glad somebody else loved Deb, so many people slated her performance but she was emotional, believable and loveable and to see her die and be buried at sea was heartbreaking for me. I'm right with you on this one
I wonder what its like to marry your co-worker, then divorce them, and then have to work with them for 2 more years pretty intimately, plus do events like these sitting together.
gamespecies Micheal C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deb) got married and divorced while Dexter was still ongoing. They still had two seasons left of working together lol.
It's funny Michael C Hall could have said that the series ends with Dexter becoming a lumberjack and no one would have believed him. Everyone would have thought he was joking.
My question still is open, how did he even get out of that hurricane! I mean he was going straight into it and his boat was destroyed. How did he even escape? LOL
They should've had James Remar, too. Sit him a few feet behind and off to the side of Dexter. Any questions asked to him, could've been answered through Dexter, as only he can see him. haha
I was a kid when Dexter was airing on TV. I finally completed all 8 seasons within 3 weeks just recently. What a show!! I just love Michael Hall as Dexter! Big fan and so glad that I finished the entire series before Dexter returns in November 😍
Nicole H. I agree, after 8 sessions it was time to end it up... but THAT ending? Really? I mean Michael C. Hall himself was executive producer (put the money) and said he didn't like the final... come on, I may think in 3 or 4 different endings better than this one... of course my personal opinion...
***** Yeah, sure, definetely it's an awesome show, but, I mean, Dexter's end is just a bit... ok. You move to some place in the North of the States or Canada and, ok. All his urges have left, he left his son and wife, the sister just dead... I don't know, I'd have given it a different finale.
+Tyler Fameli Hannah's situation doesn't make much sense. Besides the fact that even Jamie could be a better parent to Harrison, it's easier to enter Argentina with a bag of drugs the size of an elephant than with a child that's not your own.
I don't quite get why people seemed to hate the ending of the show. It's a VERY dark show and you just can't expect a live-happy-ever-after sort of ending. In my opinion the ending was not super great ,but not that bad either. Overall one of the best television series ever made.Period !!
Quite the contrary, I think most people didn't think the ending was dark enough. Dexter exiling himself to a life of isolation as punishment is inherently unsatisfying. He needed to pay a steeper price for his deeds and lies. The original ending of him being caught and receiving lethal injection, with all the show's events flashing before his eyes and his victims watching behind the glass, would have been perfect.
No one liked how rushed it was. It felt completely botched. Everyone was 8 seasons in and then they just end it with such a ridiclous storyline. It was embarrassing.
I know this was a few years ago, but thank you so much for making this video! I enjoyed the entire 58:29 ! I really miss this show... It's hard to believe that it's been three years already! Time really flies.
fun fact: to research the role, he actually stalked folks in NYC for a bit. assigned them all kinds of negative attributes to make it more real, as well. in other words, you might not be too off.
i dont understand any of yall, the ending was perfect. he finally understood that he is the problem for everything so he seperates his life from his loved ones because he is dangerous no matter what he does. idk about yall, but i thought the whole series was perfect 10/10 would watch again :')
Dude there was soooo many better ways to end this amazing series. That blonde bitch ruined the last 2 seasons. Terrible terrible, up to season 6 it was great its ashame.
The254dude It should of ended after season 7. Deb finally came to her senses and had to stop her brother from killing the Captain. She shot dex in the shipping container and either A: killed him, or B: wounded him nd arrested him. Hannah never escaped prison and deb ended up with Harrison. Than the last scene is dex in the electric chair. Poetic justice.
i never got over ritas death.. i cant explain why.. it made me feel miserable for days. never had this reaction before.. even now seeing her again, it brings the feeling back.
Just finished the series but wow what an amazing show. The characters the story... Just everything was on point these characters were beautiful and I'm glad that the cast members are all cool with each other. Thank you Dexter cast and showtime for this :)
I hate the way show ends ... actually made me cry like a baby .....😭😭😭 Jennifer shouldn't be dead... it was hard to see dexter throwing her in the deep sea and Micheal should be united with his son and hanna... that part didn't happen
It's most heartbreaking as compared to other great series. It would be ok if Dexter died but not debra. Breaking bad is good because walter died not jessie. In got Daenerys died not jon or Tyrion.
Ritas death was the most substantial lose for me on the show and that set the tone for my attitude towards the last 4 seasons. As she felt so strongly about her character dying, I too had a hard time with its ubrupt accurance. I cried for days. I was truly heart broken by her death but I think it single handedly made the show that much more amazing! Dexter will never be forgotten!
Danii S omg I thought I was the only one who took Rita’s death as a big lost n was completely broken by it yet like yu said that’s what made the show more interesting n amazing 😉
I am currently on my 2nd go through. And there are some scenes I almost don't even want to watch they are so hard. And Rita's death was THE HARDEST thing to watch...
I'm responding to these 4 years later, haha but I have taken so hard to Rita's death. I know she wasn't right for him but I can't help but feel every woman after her is a betrayal!!
I started crying and almost "grieve" at Lundy's death, followed by another big hit with Rita's death. Both dear characters. Since then, never liked the show as much as I did before, although it remains one of the best series ever made. Best seasons 1 and 2. Season 4 was promising but it was ruined by some poor choices imo (Lundy and Rita related in fact). Start of S5 awful.
+Ben Evans ....i binged watched it during the holidays..just finished last Sat, cried like a kid. thought something was wrong with me...but it was just a really good show and binge watching makes u so invested in the characters. I didn't mind the ending but thought he was going to just jump into the ocean with Deb in his arms.
Came to this brilliant show late ,but am absolutely loving it ,and all the amazing characters. Goes without saying Micheal C hall as "Dexter" is just so mesmerizing!! Wish it didn`t have to end.
Why the fuck do people care that he became a lumberjack? The point of the ending is that he sacrificed everything to put himself in an isolated prison in order to prevent himself from destroying everyone he loved. Nobody pays attention to a lumberjack, and he had to make sure that Dexter Morgan remained dead and never resurfaced. It's his self-punishment, because he fucked up and got Deb killed. Seriously... WHO CARES ABOUT THE FUCKING LUMBERJACK!?! It would have been a shitty ending if he actually died in the storm.
You know why we are mad at the ending? They took EIGHT years for this show, only to have Deborah die. Sure the point of the ending was to keep him away from his family but what the actual fuck. It would have been better off with Dexter dying instead of him living and being a lumberjack. Ok, what I'm trying to say is there is so many questions to be asked after this ending. They producers even actually thought about killing Dexter off, but ShowTime didn't want that and thus keeping him alive.
The issue is that the stuff which led to the lumberjack were badly written. Debra should’ve never died and Saxon wasn’t as good or developed of a villain to destroy his life.
Its so amazing how each and every role in this show was filled perfectly. I dont know why but the crew was choosen wisely.. amazing.. love that show ty ty
Michael C. Hall is one of my favorite actors of all time! He's so versatile and believable in his characters. He was excellent in Six Feet Under as well. I would love to meet him in person (I know it sounds cheesy). Seriously though, he went through so much with his cancer dx and handled it like the professional that he is. Thank God 🙏🏻 Michael beat it🎉.
This is hard for me, I rarely watch tv shows because I consider most of them a waste of time. However, this was the exception, Dexter helped me a lot in my life, when I felt bad or depressed I watched Dexter and everything was alright. I consider Dexter more than a Tv show. It's hard to move on, but we have to accept it and try to do the right thing in this world
after watching the final episode I've genuinely felt sad since. I wanted Dexter to have a happy ending and It saddens me that he didn't. By far my favourite TV series I've ever watched and may ever watch. Thank you to everyone who was apart of making this TV series as good as it was.
48:40 - Michael C Hall pretty much predicted back in 2013 what will happen in 2023 or later. Dexter died in New Blood and there will be a spin off about Harrison! Wow...
Rewatched dexter and finished new blood. Had to rewatch this panel for the nostalgia and damn I really do absolutely love the cast. Miss all of them. This hit me
Just because a character had bad morales doesn't mean his character was a failure. I mean, this is Dexter we're talking about, not many people have morals.
That's not what I meant. Arthur Mitchell and Brian Moser were terrible people too but at least they were enjoyable villains to watch. Prado was just annoying imo and I couldn't take him seriously as a threat to Dexter although the actor did a great job.
Why are you lying? There are 8 seasons all seasons has 12 episodes wich last 60 mintues. In total it is 96 hours. There are 168 hours in a week. You sleep an average 8 hours a day what comes to a total of 152 hours. How did you have time to work, eat, etc. So if this is true seek a doctor because this is unhealty.
Heisenberg, first, I didn't sleep much because I was obsessed w/ the show and second, I don't work. And finally, fuck off! Who are you to tell me what I did was unhealthy? And I honestly don't give a flying fuck if it's healthy or not. So get your foot out of your ass and stop judging people. Mind your own health because that's clearly more important. That's all.
So after calling me a liar you were actually looking out for me? Isn't that sweet. Oh and btw, the show is actually around 40 mins not 60 mins without commercials.
At the beginning the guy says "one of the best written shows on television". I think the people that watch the show will all disagree with that statement after watching the series' last episode.
Seasons 1-4 were all golden and never fell short, 5-6 were still good but lacked compared to before, Season 7 was good but some episodes were questionable, Season 8 was just out of control and pretty bad.
I just binged all the seasons during my quarantine, I finished it yesterday and I had bad dreams last night its a great show but disturbing how we root for the good guy killer.
Edgar Allan Poe Had i not just finished watching all of Dexter i would have laughed at your comment and thought you were joking. How i wish i could still think it was a joke..
