DF no.294_quiet play on 1960s vintage Premier drums and 1960s-70s vintage Paiste Formula 602 cymbals

Just playing quieter and get more subtle tonality out of the drums. The 5A maple sticks, which are much lighter and softer than the usual hickory drumsticks, help with low-volume playing, although the wooden tips don't survive long.

1968 Premier kit: 20"/12"/16" (all pre-international sizes).
1960s birch 5.5" Premier snare.
Paiste 602 14" hats, 18" Thin, 22" med. ride with rivets, 20" Thin.
Recorded with two older Tascam field recorders about 1.6m in front of the kit, either side, and a basic condenser overhead into the Nikon DSLR.
Room sound only, no close mics.

Yes, they're lovely - with the possible exception of the 22" medium. After hearing this back I'm playing it a bit differently - avoiding the bow of the cymbal, except very gently. Would like to replace it with a 20" medium ride if I can find a light enough one.
