The pointing angle on these is awesome! Must be getting 25-30° to the wind!

@6:35: when 132 entered the Zone, 743 had an overlap and so was entitled to Mark Room. Then 132 tacked within the Zone, pretty much negating any bargaining power it might have had. At the point of contact, 743 was leeward and had Mark Room.

Arlin Interesting when you go back over and look at a race without the pressure of making a decision on the lake. At 1:16 you could argue that when 132 tacks onto starboard 743 had time and space to tack away but 132 elected to go astern. The next 3 marks are quite clear 743 clear ahead at the first two then 132 clear ahead. At 4:26 was 132 still tacking when entering the zone? At 200 metres it is difficult to tell but I think it was - no rights At 4:34 obvious 132 tack inside the zone plus 743 stays on starboard plus doubtful if 132 gives 743 space and time to avoid contact. At 5:58 743 enters the zone clear ahead and could have "shut the gate" more effectively on 132 with a closer rounding of the mark forcing 132 to leeward and then covering her to the line but wind out of that corner is often very tricky and keeping momentum with a DF95 is so important hence 743 wider rounding. At 6:13 132 could be accused of tacking onto 743 ??? nevertheless 132 go a favorable wind shift and wins.

Hi Richard, Would it be ok to use that video for training. There is loads in there we can use to teach our less experienced skippers. Thanks

This would be a goid training video. " How many rules have been broken by the two lead boats"? "

I agree ... Lots! See my comments to Arlin Geyer. In the absence of an observer calling fouls at the mark it is up to the aggrieved skipper to call a protest. Ideally, the offending skipper should voluntary do a penalty as part of good sportsmanship. We were not racing for any prize and at that time most of the fleet were very new to racing, we weren't even recording race results. That said 132 and 743 had been racing for some years - mainly the bigger A class - both should and do know better. Turn up the sound and you can hear a less experienced skipper that jumps the start being told to "keep going" there is also a discussion between skippers on port - starboard following the rounding of the top mark and the keep clear at the finish.

what do you use to colour the top part of your sail ?
@richardbrady4211
@richardbrady4211 5 лет назад
Adam Just an Artline brand permanent marker pen - get as thick a point as you can [shovel point] and use long overlapping strokes others in the group have used a light spray of epoxy based paint from a "rattle can" but this requires some form of masking and you need to be very careful with the lightweight sails. Marking pen is easy just use a ruler / straight edge to draw the boundary and then colour between the lines. I did the red first let it dry which only took a short time and then the black. BIG TIP - don't put the ruler directly on the sail otherwise you risk the colour bleeding underneath just pack underneath the ruler so it is not directly touching the sail and use it as a guide. Have a look at the South African DF95 site for some interesting colour combinations. Gook luck. Richard

Hi. Where can i get those sails?
@richardbrady4211
@richardbrady4211 Год назад
Search for Dragon Force 95 or the smaller version Dragon Force 65 (the 95 is the length of the hull in centimetres as is the 65). With the 65 get a set of the A+ sails as well as the normal A sail. The A+ makes the a very good yacht.

Si vede bene che con vele cazzate si ottiene velocità e stabilità più che lasche con verricello. Nelle mie barche preparavo manovre con un lasco minimo fisso quasi come nelle vere, abolendo il verricello.
