This is the sign off on the 2nd to last day of Deutscher Fernsehfunk. This is quite surreal to me to watch, knowing that this was the last ever Sendeschluss with their next day of programming.

Also in the 80s, we have had nice films and the latest music videos on DDR-TV. DDR-2 has had a special show called "Elf 99" in the late 80s, which cared for latest pop music and international chartbreakers of that time, like AHA, Michael Jackson, Richard Marx and more... As I remember, also West Germany's and US-charts were concidered.
It wasn't a merger. The DFF was folded, and before their final dissolution, some transmitter stations were already taken over by ARD. In place of the DFF, two new regional public stations were created that are members of the ARD: The first is the ORB (Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg) for Brandenburg state and since merged with the SFB (Sender Freies Berlin) from Berlin to form the RBB (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg). The second is the MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk) which serves the free state of Sachsen, the free state of Thüringen, and Sachsen-Anhalt state. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state did not get a new public station of its own, they instead were integrated into, and are still part of, the NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk).

Senyor Capità Collons depends on the affiliate you are referring to, this one (DFF1) shut the day after this recording to become Das erste. Whereas their second one (DFF2) shut its doors a year or so later.
Apparently this rendition of Deutschlandlied aired on this channel for the last time, on this day. However, that rendition was later reused by ARD for their closedown sequence, until 1995.
That would prove unsuccessful in many terms, this was the standard at the time, plus video upscaling/remastering was rarely heard of at the time. Plus I’m sure due to the obscurity of this network, this might be all we have of a former time. But it’s better than nothing.
@@smophie6260 bullshit. the standard quality for the time was 576i, while this video is 144p. The text is barely readable. Look at other videos here on RU-vid from that time, they don't need to be digitally enhanced to look good, this video was just digitally downscaled. So yeah, if someone still has the original tapes and would digitize them correctly, this could look a lot better.
Notice from 3:23 to 3:29 that the word „Sendeteam” can just be barely seen when that word would have be previously „Sendekollektiv” just a few short months earlier.
Balik Tanaw ni Emir / Emir's in Hindsight it was probably modified in some bittersweet farewell fashion, letting the viewers know that this was created by a team who put their efforts into this network. And that this is the last time you’ll acknowledge them. Or the word collective sounded to authoritarian, so they changed it to team to brighten things up.

Germany had been reunified for about 2 1/2 months at this point (and as someone pointed out above, this was DFF's penultimate day, it merged with ARD the next night)

M since the reunification of Germany the station "Fernsehen der DDR ('GDR TV') was renamed "Deutscher Fernsehfunk (DFF) (= 'German Television Broadcasting') and broadcasted the national anthem EVERY day before closedown, so did the other major stations ARD (= 'Associated Public Broadcasting Stations') and ZDF (= 'German Television Second') - but in my eyes the DFF version was the best version of our national anthem ever broadcasted regularly by a German TV station.
DFF would be existed until the following year that DFF1 became Das Erste, while DFF2 replaced by MDR Fernsehen for Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, Fernsehen Brandenburg for Brandenburg and the expansion of N3 for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and former East Berlin at the start of 1992. However, N3 in the whole Berlin (including the already existed coverage in former West Berlin) didn't last long that Berlin 1 later established that year.
@@Pikaling3408 east berlin, for ard, to be exact, got merged with the region where west berlin was in (sender freies berlin). it stayed that way until sfb and orb (east german broadcasting brandenburg, not related to the former east german regime) decided that they collaborated too much and need to merge. the current station for berlin is now rbb (radio berlin-brandenburg).

kbst: Das DDR-Fernsehen hatte öfter am selben Tag Sendeschluss ... welchen meinste denn? ;o) Ich erinner mich sehr gut daran, dass nachmittags um 14:30 Uhr auf beiden DDR-Programmen ein Testbild lief ... war doch keiner Wunder, dass wir Westen geschaut haben ... wir waren ja quasi dazu gezwungen xD
@@Rob.T Die Privaten hatten sowas, seit ich mich ans deutsche Fernsehen erinnere (ab 1989) nicht. Sat 1 sendete durch am Mittag, und auf dem Kanal von RTL Plus in Hamburg lief am Vormittag bis zum frühen Nachmittag Tele 5. Und ich weiß nicht, bis wann es bei ARD und ZDF sie gab, ggf. endete das als das ARD Mittagsmagazin mit Hannelore Fischer startete 1989. Ich kann übrigens nicht glauben, dass Hannelore Fischer in zwei Jahren 70 wird.
Ich habe doch nur privat DDR F1 ident, AK, testbilden von DDR F1 & F2. Ich kan die Clips nicht öffentlichkeit machen weil DRA kommt und sagt ich muss die Clips schnell wegnehmen. Copyright.....bah!

Basically after the dissolution of the regime, media had to shift its tastes towards a more unified view. Thus the west anthem was used to signify change
@@salag13 I've seen a lot of VHS recordings with same date or much older than this, but in better quality while transferring to digital format and not as worse like this video. It is either the VCR's tape head accumulate a lot of dirt, or the tapes are starting to degrade due to poor storage conditions.
..stimmt nicht ganz. Ein guter Schulfreund hatte bereits ein VHS-Rekorder auch zu DDR Zeiten. Seine Eltern waren im Aussenhandel tätig :-) Der Nachschub von VHS Bändern war auch nicht schwer, wer Westgeld hatte konnte sich die Dinger im Intershop kaufen.
