I had a burr under my saddle to write a Celtic-sounding wedding song using the familiar fourth interval we hear at the beginning of "Here Comes the Bride". Of course, playing with this in Dorian produced a lovely, rich melody and harmony, but further experimentation led me to a lighter-toned version of that same melody in Mixolydian. Thus, the idea of separating the song into "Groom" and "Bride" sections was born. Each section is ABA format, with the same A part in the respective modes, but their B part differs slightly. The third section (the "Couple") utilizes the Groom's A part and the Bride's B part, symbolizing how a man and woman unite their lives as part of their wedding vows.
