Mia Dowd Yeah everyone was having fun until Claude came on stage with his depressing poem; everyone thought it was just "buzzkill", but as it turned out, it was much more than that.....
Sorry there are a few people commenting here so...i am sorry..you are right for the cry for help but if it is sad that Claude committed suicide in the show,it happens in true life i don't like the fact that he dumped Caitlin at the nuke Center and wrote this damn letter to her after his decision to kill himself..Sorry..Joey was also a much better guy for her..Right!
I think Claude aready made up his mind to kill himself when he did his poem. It was a good poem but a little too dark. I agree he did that to Caitlin on purpose so she would feel bad.
I think his problem was more than Caitlin, his problems are obviously stemming from his parents. His mother's boyfriend can't stand him, therefore his mother rejected him and his father rejects him. Your own parents can't stand you, your friends can't stand you. He reached out to Caitlin maybe as a last resort? Suicide is a mental illness, but we always seem to refer to the person as "selfsh." People who suffer from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder all have mental disorders. People who are suicidal are considered selfish. It's a sad world we live in.
@@SuperWolsey i think he already made up his mind by then. his demons did anything they could to reject the plan already. it's sad to get to a point where you can't trust anyone with how you feel even when safe people come along ❤️ poor joanne
The poem Claude wrote he was asking for help too at least his best friend tried to help him! If he was fine he wouldn't of killed himself! He should talk to his best friend about his feeling he probably would of felt better!
"You know, we have a lot more in common than you think...When I was about your age, I found the body of a classmate who committed suicide." 22 years later
I think this is such a sad episode I have gone through depression and its nothing to joke about I have felt this way before about someone and if you can't stop thinking about you ex or a current relationship gone bad you can't help but want to express yourself its kinda like self help doing dark poetry and it helps some so I understand to a degree what Claude was going through but its apparent that Caitlin wasn't interested anymore so he should have held his head high and moved on !
If I was Caitlin, I wouldn't be the least bit depressed and instead, I'd be ecstatic and overjoyed. The despicable son a of a bitch deserved to go to hell so I'd be so happy that he perished.
We all knew or know a person like Chode, I mean Claude. Not the suicide part necessarily but just weird for the sake of weird or just weird for attention and/or kind of creepy. Like creepy as in he likes smelling bicycle seats and eats liver every day for lunch and believes that wearing red socks will bind spirits at your feet so you can fly.
i that person that can't take depresdin things well and starts laughing (unless i need to) so claude's poem just made me laugh but i feel bad for the guy
Would have been nice of there was some episodes on claude family jow he lived outside of degrassi to really see more of why he was like he was and why. His parents were so nonchalant but so into why he felt as he was...
What happened to the good natured shows that taught you right from wrong??? I love Degrassi Jr High and Degrassi High! The shows I grew up with at 45 years old now.
they must of overdubbed the footsteps because everyone has the same sound when they walk....lol..even in a rug. I don't understand why they did this ..lol..if you listen you can hear footsteps everytime someone walks like they are wearing shoes,..when they are wearing sneakers...😂🤦🏻
Im AMAZED the tubby brunette girl with the bow on her head never killed herself? She NEVER had any stories about her and it seems she was always pushed to the background. She was always nice and seemed to be everywhere, the hallways, any committee, every classroom, every restaurant and anywhere you looked. I would have written several stories...I also miss the Rick Munro character, he deserved more stories too
You know the guy commits suicide, right? Those comments are the kind that probably would make someone commit suicide, you know? If you have no clue what I'm talking about, look further down the comments.
2:30... Awkward! Dancing Jockettes - Dispels the myth that Degrassi was always entirely melodramatic. And personally, I prefer the newer key of "Everybody Wants Something" to the old one on the tape.
I wish they had more of a lead-up to things like this, it makes it more realistic. Boom, suddenly Kathleen is anorexic, Claude suddenly wants to kill himself, L.D. suddenly has leukemia. I guess it's hard with short seasons and such a large ensemble cast, but I still think there needs to be a little more of a backstory.
These were after school specials usually and they had so many characters to focus on. This has way more lead up and storylines than other kid shows have tried to do so I don't see it as an issue
I make everything bigger than a simple fact (this is just a logistical, filming situation rather than the in-depth vision I’m about to share lmao) I draw a parallel to a parent-of-a-teen’s point of view. Anything I personally dealt with, I kept so hidden from my parents that when they found out, it was always “why is this SUDDENLY a thing”
They go into some exposition about Claude having a broken home with his parents splitting up and his father not liking him, plus he couldn't get Caitlyn back (he dug his own hole on that one), and he had few friends, adding in that he's a teenage kid and that he didn't seem to want help.
Kathleen you saw her problems since Jr. with her mom..then her eating disorder, Scott kicking her ass,..this dude killing himself seems like out of nowhere, except the the whole Catlin dumping him thing.. still a great show I grew up on.👍🏻
It appears he wore the same outfit two days in a row. I remember a Seinfeld episode where George asked Jerry if you were an outfit and then wash it etc and then wear it the next day does that count as wearing the same clothes two days in a row?
This is when Degrassi was at its best Degrassi TNG was great to but Degrassi high just feels more realistic and felt so real I feel bad for Claude I however dudbt like how he treats Caitlin now that's not right.😞
To me it seemed a little unrealistic of what they made Claude turn out to be. Too forced of a story. Claude didn't care about Caitlin, it was clear by his actions of abandoning her on that fence. He was not emotionally bonded to her, yet they made it that way after the fact. Realistically, Claude would have just moved on to his next rebellious act. Sure, he had a shitty life at home but he was a 12th grader, got good grades, and would be able to ship off to university the year later. He was not stupid, so he could easily figure out for himself that high school would be something he wouldn't ever fondly remember, but he had some great years ahead. In reality, if Claude had rescued Caitlin from the fence, took the heat by fighting the guard to stall for time to get her pushed over, and yet she STILL ended up breaking up with him, then I can see him going into depression. But that wasn't how the story was told. He did absolutely nothing for her, so his net loss to Caitlin was zero. In real life, people flip over the edge when they devote so much care, money, and mutual emotional support, yet get betrayed is where it really genuinely hurts.
Rather than killing himself, the Degrassi writers should've made him the first school shooter of the Degrassi Franchise. I think that would've made a lot more sense due to the build up from the beginning of the episode.
Claude was who I imagined Edward Cullen when I read the book (before the movie) his obsession and attitude toward people is very similar to how Claude treats others lol
I’ve only heard Zit Remedy once and I feel as annoyed as when I heard Woah, California and House Arrest for the 1586947785336th time. Is that normal ?😂😭
@@jackieec I would just rather not 😭 it’s already annoying that “HEY CALI HEY FORNI HEY I-A”, “House arrest house arrest put my record to the tye-EST”, and “SHARED CUSTODY SHARED CUSTODY” play in an endless loop in my brain.
@@faeri_ 😂 yeah i totally get that. But between those and /Zit Remedy / The Zits id rather have it stuck in my head than Studz / Janie & TS. But i understand completely how annoying it can get so no worries
@@faeri_ Yeah she did. Despite some that were obviously heavily auto tuned 😂 she did have some pretty catchy songs. I still laugh at the one she made on Zoë.
I'm sure that, in _his_ mind, he did nothing wrong, and that rather it was _he_ that was the ultimate victim. At least Claude snapped before mass shootings became all too common. 😞
The common tale of the misunderstood artist youth...but in High School, a shutout and someone going through a tough time and on top of it the girl he likes hates him for mistakes he made. We all expect that they'll be able to handle their own lives, and many can but some cant. Belittling those kind of people in fiction only marginalizes them in real life.
@Happy Thoughts Mike Dallas knew he was too hard on Cam and he was upset about it. Then he tried to blame Ali too, which was bullshit. But if this were real life Cam probably would have went back home and got help.
Holy Crap!! Clown/Shawn from Slipknot is in the audience!! And what's with all the overblown sound effects?? Especially in the walking/shoes department. It's like everyone is wearing horseshoes.
