Is Dhaka safe for solo travel? As a street photographer, I've spent a lot of time exploring the streets of this bustling city. So I thought I would share my perspective and some general travel tips for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh might not be the best place for your honeymoon. But if you like adventure and drama, then Bangladesh is definitely the place for you! THIS COUNTRY IS DIVERSE yet weird at the same time. One Tip: Try to visit countryside and also Sylhet, Chittagong, Chandpur. These cities are very different than each other and you will get an idea of how people of different income bracket lives in this country! And ask the locals for suggestions. Try to interact with younger people cz they will most likely speak some english.

Great video, Hashem - as always! :) I was not aware that the Luke.D incident got as much airtime locally as it did. I wonder why it invoked so much attention? As disappointing as that was, I think you're right in highlighting that its not a unique aspect of traveling in places as textured as Dhaka. Provided you can keep your wits about you, travel in Dhaka (with a camera) is oh so rewarding. Especially with a 28mm!

As a local we also faces this types of beggars often.Even you have to be careful when you consider to give money someone cause when ever I have given some one others came asking for the same in that same spot😢.so,we ignore them and gateway quickly.feel sorry for them but this is reality.welcome to Bangladesh 👍🇧🇩

I have spent my whole life in Dhaka, I have visited India maybe like 50 times, but the only 2 places where I was about to get duped were Paris and Athens..... so it's kinda racist of the world when "is Paris safe for solo travel" videos are not made but "is Dhaka safe" is a concern

Hey I see what you mean, and appreciate the feedback. I actually wanted to help oppose this stigma (and funny enough, I've heard a lot about Paris being unsafe) Perhaps another title would be better for the video? I'm open to suggestions.

Please also consider visiting outside of Dhaka especially Chittagong and Sylhet. There is more to Bangladesh than just Dhaka. Dhaka is the capital city, like many other capital cities in Asia it is overcrowded. In terms of safety try to go out after 8 to 9am in the morning and try to be back at a safe place within 8 to 9pm at night. There are specific areas where the possibility of occurring crime is higher than other area, try your best to avoid them. Hope you will enjoy your time in Bangladesh. Good luck.

Travel Dhaka less and other popular districts more. For safety: always listen your sixth sense and look around. Try to research a little of any place that you like to visit. People are mostly nice and you will get help in any situation hopefully.

Beggar is around the globe even london, New York, Paris, munic, Tokyo etc. Even if you go to Paris lots of crawly. This young gay out of Bangladeshi mentality , he did not inform how is Bangladeshi people hospitality and honesty, most of Bangladeshi very innocent & very helpful. If you go to Sydney you can find lots of bagger asking money for drugs,food. In london Metro lots of drug addicts sleeping in the underground. Young people out world information.
