Dhanush did his schooling in thai sathya matriculation high school, chennai, tamilnadu, india. And also did his degree (BCA) through distance education from Madurai Kamraj University. He appeared in the debut movie named "Thulluvadho Illamai (2001)" at the age of 16. He also acted in bollywood movie "Raanjhanaa" with lead pair sonam kapoor.
Dhanush is an actor, producer, director, writer, lyricist, screenwriter, and playback singer. He directed the movie powerpandi (2017) where lead role done by rajkiran and revathi. He started his singing debute in the movie "Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan" (2004) song "Naatu Sarakku".
Dhanush got married in 2004. He is the son-in-law of the poplar superstar of south india actor rajinikanth. Dhanush wife Aishwarya is also an director (3 Movie). Dhanush favourite musician is Ilayaraja.
