Gautam Adani's dream project is set to transform Dharavi, the largest slum in the world, into a smart city. With Mumbai's urbanization, Dharavi experienced unplanned growth and lacked proper infrastructure and basic facilities for its residents.
However, the recent redevelopment project by the Adani Group, winning a bid of 5069 crores, aims to change the face of Dharavi. The project involves relocating the residents within Dharavi during redevelopment, allowing them to witness the transformation of their homes firsthand. With a particular purpose vehicle (SPV) formed in collaboration with the government, the Adani Group will cover 80% of the project's cost, while the government will contribute 20%.
This ambitious venture is expected to drastically improve Dharavi's living conditions and prospects, turning it into a model smart city over the next seven years.
