To master a subject, one must be able to teach it easily. You seem to have mastered this topic. Thank you!

I have heard from other teachers that the index finger should not be used to count or move the beads as it is attributed to ego and can negatively charge the mala. On what basis do you teach differently? Thank you.

I was wondering the same thing.

+YelshayLove From what I can tell, it seems to be mostly those of the Hindu tradition who are adamant about not utilizing the index finger. Adherents to Buddhist traditions, and especially Tibetan Buddhism, don't seem to place any importance such things, and will tell you that the intent is what matters. Still, it's hard to find a definitive answer.

I have found the chanting of mantras to be extremely unhelpful. But I know many do indeed find it rewarding.

Very nice. Thank you 🙏. I have seen and asked me some people want or did take shower with wooden mala, wrist mala or seed mala. Definitely no water on wood and seed mala they will be break up. So no water on those and putting/rubbing little oil in the palm with make them nice texture and will stay long time. In Tibetan for mala it's called Trengwa.

This was a very nice talk, thank you so much. Does anyone know why Indian rudraksha malas are frowned upon by tibetan buddhists? My roots are christian followed by zen and then tibetan buddhism, but lately interested in hinduism. any info appreciated. thanks.

Thank you. I have been searching for answers about the tibetan mala and mantras for a while. I live out in the 'country' and it is not easy to go to a prayer circle with a Tibetan essence. Thank you again.

Please, I would like to thank you for the many useful information presented on in your site (RU-vid). I ask: Why do we look for images of monks praying in their malas, do we see these malas with four, five or more counters? Is there any greater reason than simply counting the tens, hundreds, thousands, or millions of mantras?
@kiratrai

Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge, with wisdom and humility. If I remember correctly, the index finger represents the Ego, so it is considered avoided when using a Mala, isn't it? Or perhaps it's my memory fault?
