How good was Evan Roos though? I really hope he gets his Bok call up soon. Stormers v Ulster and Roos v Vermeulen battle is going to be something to behold.
As a Stormers fan I REALLY wanna see us against Leinster in the final - Leinster are like the Crusaders of Europe! Fair play and hats off to Edinburgh - thank you for travelling down south with enthusiasm and bringing your best game - it made it an awesome contest. I love to see Scottish teams competing well!
@@thabisondlovu232 I think it's the fact that the Bulls now have to travel to Europe and play Leinster in their backyard. I think home ground advantage is crucial at this stage
Don’t think Libbok played that well today. His kicking game was not up to scratch. Distribution was iffy but that’s probably down to Willemse going off. Ulster is going to be harder to break down and we need a 10 and 12 that can unlock it.
@@mtabrahams All valid points Mr Abrahams, but I'm referring to his performances in general. Can't deny he's been brilliant this season, Willemse too. Last season Willemse wasn't very good.
No you are wrong those is form the western cape they was trained by people in the Western Cape you can 90 % of the players in the country coming from the western cape
@@melanchorly7618 agreed, he is the catalyst for the 10 - 12 - 13 channel. Him having an “offish” day at the office and I, the general public noticing it, is only a sentiment to how good he is this season.
I think Edinburgh can be proud of their efforts this game especially after watching Glasgow earlier on and with the amount of injuries they have gotten this season with at least 5 starting players out injured and fighting all the way to the end away from home against the 2nd best team in the league. Also with some very good additions next season with Sam Skinner from Exeter and Wes Goosen from the Huricanes, Edinburgh should really target next season especially being in the Champions cup to at least try and get to a Semi final or one better a major Final in both the League and Europe
It’s been such a pleasure to watch Evan Roos’ form flourish over the last year. What an absolute beast of a player, almost single-handedly carried this Stormers team today.
Was at the game today, there was some really hard hits and massive physicality but stormers will need to really bring it next week to get one over Ulster
they can tell you that 2 teams that they used to play against, will beat all the teams in that rugby competition but the stormers is one of the best south African team Auckland blues and Canterbury crusaders sheepsaggers
Stormers are just too quick, skilled and smooth in attack. The URC is in shock. They were expecting some heavy forward play and stormers come with quick offloads and side steps🤣🤣🤣
@@rockybilboa6136 I agree👍, his tackling was very solid (something like 12 out of 14). But it's more the risk factor of burning through youngsters this early in their career
@@MrBiggiefuckinsmalls Don't put your house on it and don't tattoo it anywhere; these things have been known to bite people in the arse in the past.....
Ah yeah, seems like a long time ago now. To be fair though, I don't think the caliber of the South African teams was ever in question. Those comments were meant to cut them some slack given they were entering a new competition, adapting to new rugby, new conditions and also just the buy-in to a new competition. I'm delighted that the SA teams have taken to it so soon and have added so much more to the league
I agree and made the same comment for Deon Fourie's yellow card two weeks ago but no surprise I got called a "salty saffa". Nothing to do with being salty but everything to do with the game becoming touch rugby.
Thoughts from todays game: Paul De Wet our best option at 9. D-Will is vital to our backline. Roos' presence > Roos' pens. Come next season Dweba will complete the package. Pity to be losing Gelant, but we'll be good.
H Jantjies has been mediocre at best the past 2 seasons. Stormers has been struggling with SH for a good few years now. They should allow Jantjies to go abroad and then hopefully come back a better player. In the meantime WP Rugby should dig in their wallets and sign E Papier from the Bulls
@@rockybilboa6136 I agree - Jantjes delivery was fast and it worked well for our backline. So refreshing to see a scrumhalf speed up the play instead of the Faf-style of planting the foot and waiting 7 seconds before boxkicking each time
Evan Roos just needs to stop giving away silly penalties. herschell jantjies needs to be a little quicker around the breakdowns if he reaaly wants an oportunity to be the next incumbant no 9 for the Boks
Shoulder ball and all tackle" (chest on chest) Fair enough he does slide up as Roos goes Down. Guys this is Rugby, judge the Tackle on the point of impact.
I've gotta agree with you Thembani. My initial reaction was wow! What a monster hit, stopping a very strong ball carrier in his tracks. Thankful I'm not a referee, I would've let that one slide 😄
Still trying to get my head round Shaffer sides in the EUROPEAN Champions Cup. It's like the EUROVISION Song Contest!!! 😂 United Arab Emirates....no points!!!
To be fair, we never did ourselves any favours at the start of the season either. However, it was rather presumptuous to assume we would struggle. European arrogance poked its head again, perhaps?
@@terrybrady392 we will see about that, remember never rite off any SA side ever. Our first season in the URC took us only 6 months to adjust to NH style, officiating & conditions. We didn’t come to participate we came to dominate.
@@worldchampions4379 dont be silly man, its obvious that our Saffa sides are getting out of trouble with moments of magic on counter attack, and its definitely great to watch, but our sides all make heaps of mistakes. We dont come close to Leinster's accuracy and discipline
@@stonewhall why is it silly to entertain the thought that the Stormers or/and the Bulls could beat Leinster. I remember a World Cup game back in 2019 when nobody in the NH thought the Boks could beat an inform English side. That’s just the way we like it backs to the wall underdog tag
If we continue to start Jantjies at 9 we're going nowhere fast, also Libbok needs to show some BMT and game management in these big games, or else all his flare is for nothing.
Just wondering if those poached players that went to the Sharks would have made any difference to the stormers, i think not, this lot of Stormers are something special, just goes to show if you know what you want, if you know what you are doing and you know where you want to be, you can do it. Stormers V Bulls in the final in Cape Town and the Stormers celebrating with the UFC trophy. In the dressing room Jake throwing a tantrum !! and Sharks coach gone fishing..hehee
So that tap tackle should have been a yellow and penalty try as he hit the ground just before the tackle which is illegal in rugby union. You are not allowed to tackle a player if you are on the ground, does not matter if it was half a second
spot on @D. Krane - our sides are indeed less than the sum of their parts, & luckily the parts are getting us out of trouble. But we can see the improvement, & the coaching will also improve - thanks to what we see of the NH teams
@@neilvanjaarsveld3 Did you perhaps not understand what the man said? Our parts are good but the whole (sum) is full of sloppy inaccuracies & mistakes - our coaching is not up to scratch, it's ok to say that & we will improve. We are nowhere near as well drilled nor accurate, nor disciplined as some of these NH teams. But we get out of trouble thro moments of brilliance.
You try coaching a team when you loose 3 of your best players each year. The Stormers are playing with their 3rd choice 12, lol 2 of the European champions cup winners played for the Stormers.
Why the hell did number 8 orange get yellow carded? These refs and governing bodies are desperately trying to ruin this sport. What a joke that call was
@@luvukonombembe6197 100%, it's gotten pathetic. If they had their way completely. . . It'd be touch rugby. It's a contact sport, there are risks involved but the rate they're going, it's going to destroy one of the greatest ball sports in history
Stormers didn’t play well enough given the kind of team Edinburgh is. That yellow card to Edinburgh player was total rubbish. It wasn’t nearly high enough to warrant a yellow. Can't believe Stormers couldn’t score that first Try being so close to finish line
@@shamiromrimmoy5964 that’s a silly thing to say. Edinburg is a quality team and has many internationals, they may not be a powerhouse in rugby but they definitely not a Rebels type team. Edinburg beat the Sharks in Durban too.
Vermeulen pollard arm and impimpi siya is not sure about places in the bok team anymore there is enough leaders Steven can lead the bok team even Willie those guys is not good enough for the bok team
It’s Am, there’s no letter r in his surname. Also impimpi means a snitch, I’m guessing you meant Mapimpi? Not a difficult surname if you can get Vermeulen right
@@MrPoepope Oh there has been poor reffing before, but not this game. Were there a handful of calls that got missed or were incorrect, yes. I recall 2 distinctly but marginal calls that are distributed 50/50 are unavoidable. Your expectation is not realistic.
covid restrictions. still more than Leinster. unfortunately sa stadiums are build into the 50 , 60 thousands not like Ireland which build 10 thousand 20 thousand capacity stadiums
@@moosmckenzie5972 Jislaaik Moos. The man highlighted the obvious lineout failures by the Stormers. And you say dont worry they beat other weaker teams with a bad lineout so now they will win the final against the best team at their home ground with a wobbly lineout? Most points are scored from strike or phase plays off lineouts. 2 times. You score, or you stop the opponent score. Stormers game plan needs possession. Lineouts keep or give possession
