On the auspicious sixth day of Navaratri, everyone at NRL is thrilled to announce a significant achievement in our journey - the successful erection of the DHT reactor, marking the first Over Dimensional Consignment (ODC) for the Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project (NREP).
This monumental equipment, weighing over 460 MT and boasting a maximum diameter of 6.8 metres, embarked on an incredible journey. It was transported through sea and riverine routes, commencing from ISGEC works at Dahej, Gujarat, and concluding at the NRL jetty in Numaligarh. The voyage included traversing the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal along the Indian coastline, spanning all the way from Gujarat to Haldia. From Haldia, the equipment was deftly transferred from a ship onto a river barge, navigating through the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route and the mighty Brahmaputra River, ultimately arriving at the NRL Jetty at Dhansiri River.
The consignment was then meticulously transported from the jetty to the NRL project site, a journey that required crossing a newly constructed temporary causeway over the Kalyani River, designed exclusively for this purpose. The feat of erecting this colossal equipment was made possible through the utilization of a 1600 MT lifting crane and a 600 MT trailing crane.
This accomplishment marks a monumental milestone in the construction journey of the NREP project. NRL extends its heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders who have played an integral role in the success of this remarkable endeavor. A special word of thanks goes out to APDCL and PWD for their unwavering support in clearing overhead electrical lines along the route and for their instrumental role in building the temporary bridge over the Kalyani River. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of all involved.
