राजधानी देखि ३० किमी पुर्वमा रहेको यस धुलिखेल नगरपाको प्राय अधिकांश भाग पहाडी भूभागले ढाकेको छ र मिश्रित जनजातिले बसोबास गरेको यस नगरमा नेवार समूदायको बाहुल्यता भएको पाईन्छ। पहाडी भूभागले ओगटेता पनि यहाँ प्राय सबैजसो वडामा खानेपानी , बिजुली र सडकको सुविधा उपलब्ध छ । काठमाडौँ उपत्यकाको बढ्दो वायु प्रदुषणका कारण यस नगरपालिका क्षेत्र भित्र कहि वर्ष यतादेखि बसोबासको चाप बढ्न गएको पाईन्छ। धुलिखेल नगरपालिका सुरुदेखि नै पर्यटकीय नगरिको रुपमा विकास हुँदै आईरहेको छ । हाल यस नगरपालिकाको वार्ड नं. ५ को मैनेभीरको डाॉडामा अत्याधुनिक साधन सम्पन्न धुलिखेल सामुदामयिक अस्पताल संचालनमा रहेको छ । यसले हजारौ स्वदेशी तथा विदेशीहरुलाई स्वास्थ्य सेवा उपलब्ध गराउँदै आएको छ । त्यस्तै यसै नगरपालिकाको वार्ड नं. ४ भ्याण्डोलमा अन्तराष्ट्रिय स्तरको काठमाण्डौ विश्वविधालय संचालनमा रहेको छ।
नेपालकै नमूनाको रुपमा सञ्चालित खानेपानी कार्यक्रम तथा ढल प्रशोधन केन्द्रबाट नमूनाको रुपमा बायोग्याॉस उत्पादन समेत भएको छ । यस नगरपालिका भित्रमा खानेपानी , विधुत तथा अन्य विविध सुविधाहरु रहेको हुनाले विभन्न होटलहरु समेत संचालनमा रहेका छन । नगरको मध्यभाग भएर जाने अरनिको (कोदारी) राजमार्गका कारण यस नगर तिब्बती ब्यापारको केन्द्र विन्दु नै बनेको छ ।

is located in kavrepalanchok district at the Eastern rim of Kathmandu Valley, south of the Himalayas at 1550m above sea level and is situated 30 km southeast of Kathmandu and 74 km southwest of Kodari east of Kathmandu on the side of Arniko Highway on the way towards Tibet.
Two major highway B.P. Highway and Arniko Highway passes through Dhulikhel. Araniko Highway connects Kathmandu, Nepal's capital city with Tibet's border town of Kodari.. Dhulikhel is popular for its natural beauty and ancient traditions. The Himalayan ranges from the twin crest of Mt. Langtang in the west to the Mt. Everest in the east can be clearly viewed in a clear day( more than 20 Himalayan peaks, including Mt. Annapurna (8,091m), Mt. Ganesh Himal (7,429m), Mt. Langtang (7,234m), Mt. Phuribichyachu (6,637m), Mt. Gaurishanker (7,134m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m) can be observed from different points of the city)
Dhulikhel was once known by the Buddhist name of Shrikhandapur and still has a few Buddhist stupas in memory of the old days. Namo Buddha is an interesting and pleasant three-hour hike from the town, and has a nice mix of Buddhist flavor and old Hindu temples. Dhulikhel also has several ancient temples dedicated to Sweta Bhairava, Hari Siddhi, devistan, Shiva, and Narayana, each with an interesting story related to how they came into being.
