Antonio opens with some alarming statistics about diabetes in Kazakhstan, highlighting the urgency of the issue. He takes the audience on a journey through his medical education in Spain, where an anatomy professor instilled in him a profound sense of social and moral responsibility for the health and well-being of society.Motivated by this lesson, he delved into medical research, aiming to make a lasting impact by providing valuable evidence for other medical practitioners. He explains the basics of diabetes, detailing its types and the significant long-term side effects that affect patients' lives. He goes deeper as he shares insights from data collected in Astana, emphasising the five different types of diabetes and the importance of personalised medicine. His goal is to advance research and gather comprehensive data to better support people in Astana and beyond.
He discusses the challenges faced in the medical field, including the rigorous process of publishing, securing funding, and enduring long hours. Despite these obstacles, he underscores the critical need to translate research data into actionable healthcare solutions that can directly benefit patients.
