Using the Gloom plate {VERY HARD to get}, doom bringer sword, and gotterdammerung I could get my light radius to 0. In this game, enemies see you by YOUR light radius. They have no coded vision radius of their own really. If you get your light radius to nothing, and then use a scroll of infravision to see in the dark, the enemies just let you kill them more or less.

This game is aging so well.

Love the old Arcade style of this game.I didn't play D1 much but played D2+ more than I should have.I like how they used a lot of the same Skills and Skill Pictures in Diablo 2 as they did in D1.It gave it that classic look.The attention to detail with the Items is magnificent as well.

IMO, no weapon is more effective than King's Axe of Haste (fastest attack). I got it once. It chopped down a large group of blood knights in seconds with zero potion used.

I remember exiting and starting a fresh game till griswold had what I needed. In my case "xx bow of the bear", would use it till I could farm Windforce outta Lazarus or obtained a better bow with the same suffix

Classic games like D1 and D2 never gets old. Currently playing D2 HC Auradin build. It’s so much fun than D3. I might go back to D1 again some time soon.

i remember having Thinking Cap on my around-30 level mage. it was tricky with its durability but... shortly a right chapel or a cauldron hardened it enough for me to be made useful (and the best mage helmet option in my opinion).

You can tell you haven't done this with legit methods. Your kill count crosses over from new game. I did a wiz up to level 35 a few years ago and I had hundreds too thousands of kills on each mob type. You've got 66 when hitting lvl50 so yeah bullshit

Thanks, I realize now how much time I can put into this because there is a lot of grinding to be done to get some of these items!

Ah D1, I remember getting Demonspike coat, helm, the stormshield or whatever its called, the Grandfather sword, stat elixers and zodiac rings/amulet along with mountains of gold off the ground in town cuz thats how "friendly and generous" the community was in 2000.

this used to be such a great series... I can understand why it got the fanbase it did..

Strange mace of haste was the coolest weapon I ever found legit, it replaced my duplicated king's sword of the haste.

unless your playing hellfire.. there's no legit way to hit 50. since you can't advance in difficulty in singleplayer on the original diablo.

I remember I bought King's sword of haste from the peg-legged boy for almost all the gold you could carry in your inventory. I think it was a bastard sword. Twas the best item Ive ever had on any Diablo 1 character. Unfortunately it was a multiplayer game and I died somewhere in caves surrounded by mobs I couldnt kill, so I just left without taking my stuff back :/

You are assuming the highest is 25 any item can grant a status boost. At 30 mag x 7, it becomes totally doable.

Jak nie pasuje, to load. Ma już inny przedmiot. Tak się dorobiłem kings bastard sword of carnage i wielu innych b. dobrych itemów. Trzeba było tylko zrobić DUŻO loadów ;) Pozdrawiam.

I'm surprised you didn't find the grandfather sword that item is a beat if you find a shrine that eliminated durability for additional damage. I found mine at level 23. I also found a blue shield that would block damn near every attack thrown my way but the durability on it would go down so fast that it was a pain in the ass to have to return to town all the time to repair it. I got that from Wirt

That zodiac ring with + to all resists is probably the best ring in the game.

If u enter in game in local conection with ur multiplyer char, than log out and enter in single player with onether one u can play single player in hell level and lvl up very fast. But to do that u need a multiplayer char able to kill Diablo in a nightmare game.

In the time if i remember, best was goldy plate of the whale, king sword of haste, obsidian ring of the zodiac, goldy sheild of the whale, can beat diablo at normal with his normal stuff but in hell diffuculty with a warrior, no way, you have to get the best, apocalypse spell too.

You can't store your items in Diablo 1 so the best thing to do is drop them on the floor somewhere in town like he did with the strength elixers. But watch out that you don't create a new game while your good items are still laying in town :D.

with Enchanted shrine you can get max lvl spell but you should keep chain lightning to lvl 7 or 8. If higher it become buggy when casted with a lot of monster around Fascinating, ornate and sacred shrine reduce your mana permanently by 10% so avoid those and never take cauldron they do random effect and could be -10% mana the monster called Back death (flashing yellow zombie) reduce permanently your life by 1 each time he hit you avoid them

You can fix this colour problem, by opening task manager, terminate explorer.exe and open diablo 1 as new task via task manager. When done playing just open explorer.exe in new task (task manager). works for most older games with colour problem

Wait... how did you end up with level 15 guardian (among other spells which eventually require 255 MAG)? The warrior can theoretically only end up with 225 magic (7 items * 25 magic each+ 50 base)...

Something that's not seen in the subsequent Diablo games are unique items with substantial penalties paired alongside the overpowered attributes. If i recall there were a few like "-200 mana" or the Constricting Ring which constantly sapped HP in exchange for like +100% resist all. Many items were done this way, but I can't think of any in the sequels. Aside from minor ass things like changes to Light radius or the -30% fire resist on Andariels Visage. I wonder why blizzard decided to abandon that penalty item concept so early on.

Godly Helm of the Whale Godly Plate of the Whale Storm Shield / Godly Shield of Absorption King's Sword of Haste Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac Obsidian Ring of Harmony [Or Gold Ring of the Zodiac] Gold Amulet of the Zodiac [Or Obsidian Amulet of the Zodiac] Best gear in the game for a Warrior. It's not much different for the Rogue either except the weapon changes: Windforce / Merciless Bow of the Heavens / Strange Bow of the Heavens Sub out whichever suits your needs. The only other exception is the Sorcerer who uses: Dragon's Ring / Amulet of the Zodiac instead of "Gold" because Sorcerer needs more mana than hit % chance. Arch-Angels Staff of Apocalypse [+2 Spells] Thinking Cap [+2 Spells] Naj's Light Plate [+1 Spells] Instead of the Godly Whale stuff that the Warrior / Rogue use. In Hellfire same crap as the Warrior / Rogue for the Monk. Except a King's Staff of Haste is the best weapon for the Monk and you can oil up everything to do even more damage, have even more AC and make items indestructible, including Unique items which basically breaks the game. Just an FYI if anyone wants to use an item importer / editor.

nice video man :) But the Sword looks pretty weak, 3-8 damage? lol. And Hell mode looks tough, how do you access it on Single Player? Do you go Multiplayer to make a hell game and then enter Single Player again? I tried it but once i leave Single Player mode or save it, it becomes Normal mode again T_T

Widzę jednak, że polacy mają największą wiedzę o diablo1 spośród wszystkich graczy. Nie pierwszy raz spotykam się, z oskarżeniami o używanie dooma, czy innych trainerów, od ludzi którzy nie mają pojęcia, że takie rzeczy da się zrobić normalnie. W każdym razie gratuluję wytrwałości. Mnie prędzej by szlag trafił, niż chciałoby mi się nabijać 50 na sp.

troubleshoot comparability .... or right click the icon> properties> compatibility tab> run this program in compatibility mode for windows xp sp 3 and check all the settings boxes then apply :)

good old days.... me a Mage at lvl 32 and all gold stats cept VIT(lol?) just remembered my Kings Sword of Swiftness and my 5 blah of Zodiac, and my lvl 16 spells lol(archangel if i remember) and hours coz a rumor of an Book of Nova lol

unless you played in LAN, there's no way to play hell difficulty in singleplayer. completion of the game in multiplayer won't unlock this.

That saintly shield of tiger with 14 armor is so bad i cant belive you made it to lvl 50 legitly with out finding better

Yeah I know this. I tested & it works. The disadvantage is that Diablo 1 kinda' runs slowly. When I were walking my Rogue did not really follow my mouse clicks. Not good whenever you will have to dodge enemies & going in zick-zack. I should get Windows 98 to my computer & split the harddrive in 2 systems. With some help.

Another thing. 1 problem to play Diablo 1 on Windows 7 is the colour error. How do you play your Diablo 1?

Single Player Normal Difficulty. Impossible to go above level 32 in that mode. How did you even still get that much experience? Besides Multi Player is much better & much more challenging anyways.

easiest way is to run lvl 1 to 8 hell difficulty with teleport and chain lightning until lvl 44 or around that then you run hell/hell

jak dla mnie każda część diablo 2 jest na swój sposób piękna 1 kocham za jak na tamte czasy grafikę 2 za dodatek z wieloma pomocami i 2 nowymi postaciami takimi jak druid i zabójczyni a najnowsza trójkę za zajebiście zróżnicowane misje nawiązujące do znanej nam gry WoW (Word of WarCraft) a to że masz najwyższy lvl nie znaczy ze jesteś najlepszy znam osoby które w diablo 2 mają ZAWODOWCEM 99 lvl a że dopiero w 2011r. masz 50 lvl w diablo 1 to nawet ci nie pogratuluje.

I have tested it. But Diablo ver. 1.08 seems to work slowly on windows 7. The character doesn't follow the cursor clicks well. So I just play Diablo 1 Medallion ver. 1.00. But there I can't transfer the multiplayer save-file & that sucks.

I also had the color error on XP. I can't remember how I fixed it (something to do with compatibility mode or color depth I think). Diablo 1 is cool. I even managed to connect two IPX-enabled computer together for a network game. Retro shit.

i got a 58 level magician, basically wad i did was, using teleport all the way to the last 3 levels that those creeps only provide u EXP, after that keep repeating

Why don't you get stat points from 49 to 50? Also, if you found the demonspike coat on lvl 49 why use an awesome plate?

The 1.08 version doesn't work as well as 1.00 on my computer as far as I know.
