This is a great showcase of how the game has evolved past the initial design philosophy. Most of these items could stand to be buffed directly, as well as had the stat requirements reduced to more reflect the current state of stat builds. I know LLama has said it in the past but at one point (I think it was 1.10) monster HP was buffed but weapon and armor values were not buffed proportionately, so by doing that now it might help justify the stat requirements of Elite Bases.
I know it would be kinda crazy to do so, but I actually would like them to make the next season like “season of the mute” or something, real basic seasonal effect. Runewords don’t work. The runes still drop, you can put them in items, just you only get the base effect of the rune. Everything else stays the same. Terror zones, sunders, etc. like what’s the worst thing that could happen? People don’t play the game for 3 months? It sounds fun.
I really wish that they make teleport more accessible. It's so heavily important that Enigma is literally best in slot for 90% of the builds. Put it on Tyraels or on any of the super mega rare but just not good enough items.
the only placement I disagree with here is Astreon's, should have been higher. maybe not A tier, but definitely above Death Cleaver and Grandfather they really should buff plenty of uniques, Enigma, Grief and Spirit are just way too good, but nefring them wouldn't be as fun as buffing all the stuff that's lacking now
For solo self found, alot of these, especially the B tier ones, get way better value. Like if you find a high roll grandfather you can absolutely carve up hell difficulty of players 1-3 with a barb until you find a Lo for grief.
If the devs just buffed uniques to a point where they can compete with runewords the game would have so much more build diversity and a less linear gear progression.
On my first ever Amazon playthrough (which was a bowazon) I randomly dropped a Windforce with zero magic find on single player. I was 16 years old. This was more than 10 years ago now. To this day it is still the most insane and convenient drop I've ever had.
I'm one of those casual weirdos who only plays with friends and never trade unless with said friends. This results in weird stuff like my merc running Tyraels Might + Steel Pillar on my cold rupture blizzard Sorc. For my weirdness I dropped that Tyreal's Might and Templars Might in same game in Terrorized Stony Tomb which from my understanding is really against the odds - correct me if I'm wrong
I could be mistaken, but the reason you probably ended up with both instead of 2x Templar's is that a unique won't drop twice in the same game. So I suspect you got Templar's first, then Tyrael's second, correct? It probably would have rolled Templar's but it couldn't anymore.

i thought the whole purpose of items having indestructable was not have to invest a zod rune in it if ever it dropped eth. what a disgusting game flaw on the fun factor side of things

As much as I love runewords, they removed the excitement of finding most of these TC87 uniques... They really should enhance them to compete with runewords
Why can't blizzard just do subsequent challenges during a season. And make a leader board for it. You could do no rune words. Boom all uniques are great again.
Make all uniques add 3 sockets capped. And larzuk can add 1 socket at a time. But all uniques start to have no sockets except for the ones that already have sockets
COA has no place in S or A, not with 175 str requirement when what it offers is +1 skill, 15all res and 15dr and 2 sockets maybe. To put it before windforce is a fucking insult. People pray for windforce to drop... nobody really care for COA. OMG will my shako be slightly maybe better as I lose +1 skill, huge mana and life pool, and will need to pump like 30 points to str?
Skill doesn't matter, res is just a nice to have add-on. COA is used for 15 DR + 2*Ber, sometimes with Jahs, mostly on barbs or pals, while every one of them is already "running" in an enigma - so no str problems. That's all there is to it.
I love IK whirlwind barb. You can get pretty gg with hrs and jewels in the sockets. I put 2x 40/15 in the maul because I like to berzerk bosses, otherwise i'd go 2x ohm if I were only ww. 2x 40ed 8 strength in the helm and one more in the armour.

They still useful if you cant get runeword. They improve game quality of this unforgiving difficulty... What makes the Lower tier is if you ever find thèse unique you probably an hardcore players Who through Trade or share number of hours would have the rune weapons

@@brakpseudonimu236 +2 offensive auras, and technically more resist, with the option to socket it. It's not better, but there's an argument for it for raw damage and defense, just not QoL and DPS (because FCR)
Astreon's Iron Ward is +2-4 Paladin Combat Skills, not +2-4 Offensive Auras. I'm surprised that website got it wrong, lol. I think a good roll is A-tier; great weapon to use on ubers. :)
All of those weapons pale in comparison to Lawbringer when doing ubers. LW, grief, astreon... None give such control, safety AND damage. Also take away HotO and hammerdins will use 4skill Astreons

Found a 30 cold damage, 39 lightning and fire resist death's fathom from pindle yesterday. I'm blown away at how good it is and how lucky i got. I'm still so happy getting it lol
I didn't even buy D4, been playing Diablo since early 1997, was even at a midnight release of D3. After the betas and server slam, knew I wasn't going to spend my currency equivalent of €70 on it.
D2 gameplay in a nutshell, since 20 years: 1) make a cold sorc, then play to hell (the complete game content) in 2 days 2) farm nm meph, hell meph, ancient tunnels (in that order) and lk runs until you are almost brain dead. only hunt the 30 or so items that every class uses because all other uniques, sets, runewords, rare/magic items are completely useless 3) make one of the following: hammerdin, javazon, smiter. do some stupid shit like cows, cs, ubers or something otherwise meaningless until your brain liquifies and oozes out of your ears 4) make some super shitty gimmick builds (see recent zeal paladin videos) who stand no chance in hell except you boost them with a cold sorc to like lvl 85 and give them super expensive end game items you farmed in step 2 and 3. do this until you are almost dead out of boredom 5) wait for ladder reset and start all over again at step 1)
Well you are not wrong. That's why I play like 5 hrs per month, jumping in for some quick CS or TC runs in pub games, non-ladder, and that's it. Sunk enough time already earlier on.
I would love to see some of the runewords rebalanced. Spirit Shields should be +1, 25 FCR max, halve the Vit and mana and ~30 to 35 rez. Same for Spirit sword.....
Wish you could zoom in the window so there wasn’t any blank white space on the borders, as it’s impossible to see the letters on a mobile browser.. even after changing from 320p to 720p resolution. On a pc I think you can zoom the contents of a browser by holding down the Ctrl key and wheel upwards or backwards on your mouse.
nerfing spirit to +1 to all skills instead of 2 like they did in PD2 was the right amount of fixing so the item isint just BIS forever while the rarest piece is just a 4 socket monarch. What a terrible design flaw
That is one of the biggest problems with D2's itemization. The majority of the uniques is useless in endgame. Almost all the classes use the same runewords and uniques in the endgame. Spirit and HOTO, Grief, Harlequin Crest, Enigma, Fortitude Arachnid's Mesh. That's A LOT of builds using only these items. For a belt if you are a caster there is really no other option except Arachnid's Mesh. Tyrael's Might is kind of a joke if you take into account how rare it is. So I would say that 90% most uniques are useless in D2.
This is because you think from FOMO build perspective. Try something like wwsin, kicksin, melee sorc, bowazon, psn necro, vindicator etc. and suddenly there is totally different gear and items. Also Tyraels might is pretty decent in PvP for Javazon plus it looks cool
Cool content. I would love to see the same tier list in which you differentiate between eth and non-eth version of the melee weapons. Especially for death cleaver that makes a huge difference.
Tbh, runewords that require high runes are hard to find. Id argue enigma is harder to find than griffons. But nerf spirit for sure, that is just too powerful
All we really established here is that "grief exists" and "spirit exists" just don't bother with any of these useless unique guys. The most you ever really need is a Lo rune and your set..
If we didnt have grief all melee would be useless. Spirit is op for sure and needs nerf. Even with 2 skill its too good. Imo make it 1 skill and remove fhr from it. OR make it cost zod, ohm or something similar
I'm rocking bowazon this ladder with WF. Got it perfect for a Vex. That satisfying feeling when with multishoot you are combing monsters 2 screens away is amazing
I wonder how good Earth Shifter would be if you removed the 10% FCR, increased the IAS to 20, and changed +7 to elemental skills to +7 shapeshifting skills... Yeah still worse than eth highroll ribcracker.

Are unique drops still bad in D2? I remember the last time I played, I didn't get much of anything even though hell. Then again, I didn't get shit from D4 either.
No item tooltips displayed, but just a name made it boring to watch; as I don't know off top of my head what these items do exactly nor their stats, but vaguely remember them that they *simply exist and supposedly useful* items in the game.

Astreon's should definitely be A tier. If you are running a FoHdin/Smiter hybrid it's pretty much best in slot for me, you get the +skills for the FoH and you have CB and +dmg for the smiting. Godly weapon that you sometimes can buy for cheap because people dont realize how good it is.
