I just started the video but with regards to “where Nyrell is going” there are asset files in the game that mention two continents, when I was looking through the files to 3D print my character I found files with names starting with “eastern continent” so that suggests there is a western continent that we will be visiting at some point. Add onto that her departing on a boat that looks like it’s in Scosglen and it’s heavily implied that she’s going to the western continent.

I know we all know mephisto has been pulling strings since the start, but has anyone noticed the wolf that kills our horse at the very beginning of the game and fades away into the forest has the same silhouette as mephisto? He sabotaged us, just so he can save us. Almost like he was a step ahead of Lilith the entire time.

Yup if you read the new art book the book of Lorath, there are letters by proxy between Lorath and Nyrelle while Lorath is trying to find her. Nyrelle is definitely wanderer 2.0 places she goes through are having problems. At the end there is a tidbit of the last town she was in before she starts sailing west and the towns almost devoured by hatred. Considering the speed Mephisto is exerting influence Nyrelle isn't going to be able to stop him despite her intentions (if she wasn't being influenced from the start considering how gungho before they even got there about we must do it to Mephisto).

Lilith’s intention wasn’t purely evil, but was perceived to be as she’s a demon and automatically bad Mephisto corrupted everyone into killing Lilith so he had a chance to be captured and “saved” by not being killed by Lilith Now Mephisto is “alive” and will eventually escape and reign hell down on Sanctuary unlike anything we’ve seen yet, possibly resurrecting his brothers, Diablo and Baal Lilith’s goal of killing Mephisto to become more powerful, to then eventually kill the remaining the Prime Evils and ending the Eternal Conflict could’ve been a positive thing for Sanctuary, as she loved her creations deeply Lilith was not a force of bad, but a force of balancing, which was interrupted by Mephisto

I'm interpreting the "bound in chains set free" line of the prophecy as Mephisto; since he is loose in Sanctuary.
@CallMeTeci
@CallMeTeci Год назад
Kinda shows the problem of that kind of video, when the informations and actual storytelling and characterizations in the game itself are really sparse. I doubt someobody who doesnt know about the lore of these two will understand anything whats going on in the cinematic.
@Shiftry87
@Shiftry87 Год назад
Yeah but there is a problem with that. Mephisto was never trapped in anyway before he was sealed in the soulstone. He was regenerating himself after the destruction of the black soulstone from D3 when he along with all the other demons was released. He was never trapped he just needed time to manifest in a fully functional body again.
@CallMeTeci
@CallMeTeci Год назад
@@Shiftry87 The videos interpretation makes more sense, IF we look at the whole prophecy: "I saw my corpse, and from my mouth crawled Hatred, A father burned his children on a pyre, and a mother molded a new age from the ashes, I saw the weak made strong, a pack of lambs feasting on wolves, Tears of blood rained on a desert jewel, and the way to Hell was torn asunder, Then came a spear of light, piercing Hatred's heart, And he who was bound in chains was set free." BUT the last part is relatively vague and Inarius wasnt freed from anything, just killed. But its the only thing the description kinda matches, especially the "spear into heart" thing. But how anyone would know that Inarius was hateful, just from the things within the game, is a mystery to me. He just comes across as an narcistic asshole with maincharacter-complex, before he does a hard 180 for the cinematic into a pathetic idiot. Thats not what he was and tbh also Lilith is by no means the deep character that she was in the Sin War trilogy. That they changed so much into bland stereotypes is not a nice and deep twist, but the result of embarassingly bad writing... see Donans death.

I am glad you explained how Lilith DID want to rule Hell and overthrow the Primes not as simply a way to save sanctuary but to empower herself. This is key because it shows we can't trust her and I see A LOT of people say they wished we could side with Lilith because "Lilith did nothing wrong" and they don't seem to realize that her promises are not to be trusted and the world she desires would not really be a great one as you can see with the scene where she explains her philosophy to Elias while they watch a man be devoured by wolves. It is open to interpretation though and I actually do really like ambiguous motivations. Great video! edit: wow great attention to detail about where Neyrelle is going. I didn't even think about the way she was heading!

In the 3 books..... yea, she quite the bitch. That being said.... she's probably right. At no point, has Lilith ever said that she wants to rule over all, before this game. She only complained that NO ONE, not a single angel or demon who ran to escape the eternal conflict, wanted to use the nephalem to end the war. Every other demon and angel was terrified that nephalem even existed.

My feelings are that Lilith may style herself as the 'Mother of Sanctuary' and say that she only 'wishes to empower' humanity, but the minute she sacrificed Yorin to Astaroth it became clear to me that that was BS, BS she might have believed herself but still a lie.
@Grommash1000
@Grommash1000 Год назад
It's possible but we won't really know what her true end game was, you either take her word or you don't because she's currently no longer with us. Fairly clear that she did care about her first born and in her own twisted way she actually did care about her creation (Sanctuary). What she didn't care for was those among us that she thought of as weak. Multiple expositions of her claiming as such, including the scene with the monk being devoured by the wolves (those are meant to represent Baal, Mephisto and Diablo). I got the impression from her throughout the story that the main cast she actually begrudgingly respected, and in multiple scenes she always gave us the choice, even if she didn't like the answer. Elias also made it clear to her in that very scene that he doesn't really respect cultists and blind loyalty, as only fools think that way. Right and wrong is really hard to judge in this world to begin with. As mortals massive immediate losses waging wars against Hell and then inevitable Heaven isn't a really good selling point. Our lives are short and we aren't really thinking about future generations beyond maybe a couple, so what does it matter if this eternal conflict just keeps going on forever. For Lilith, in her eyes she sees this as frustrating because she's essentially immortal and wants it to end. To a being such as her, the massive toll on humanity as the weak is culled and the strong survive is necessary if it means the long term goal of Hell/Heaven being vanquished resulting in the conflict finally being over. She did plenty wrong, no doubt about that. I can understand her motivations and her end game goal though. Instead of exploding in hellfire she sat there defeated, scolding us for squandering our futures because we are too stupid to think about anything except the short term. Overtime the losses are going to mount up, and her words be far too great (as it flashes between Mephisto, Baal and Diablo once again) for humanity to contend with. To that end, I don't think she's wrong there. Keep in mind also that 50 years prior half of humanity was wiped out by Mathael, a rogue angel from the Heavens. Like Zoltuun Kuul said, angels aren't really any better than demons.

One I keep noted about is where he warns the wanderer "There will come a day when the Horadrim stumble, don't be there when they do." I believe this phrase is meant to be suggestive to what is coming next in his planned with Nyrell. Nyrell is likely taking Mephisto in search of Tyrael, who for some reason fled the eastern continent out of fear of something, what is still unknown. However, we know Nyrell is meant to be a seed of the Horadrim, and her arc will play into them heavily. So I believe Mephisto has plans for Nyrell and the Horadrim that he will force them to make a terrible decision.

I don't want to spoil things for people so don't want to speak too much. For those who ordered the art book, The Book of Lorath, you get some small tidbits because the book has letters throughout written by Lorath and Nyrelle after the events of the game. It definitely sets up things for what's next. I will say do remember the game points out that A. The prime evils got the secrets of the soul stones. They aren't a prison anymore just a slight annoyance. B. Mephisto is the weakest of the three but is also the smartest of the three, he knew their plan and being as cunning as he is would know this could be a possibility, nor did he really seem upset or concerned if they choose that path. (proving that this probably was his plan or at least one of two). C. Take clues from the final cut scene, Mephisto doesn't look angry or frustrated with Nyrelle, he's standing by her and watching. If you care about lore you know that Diablo and Baal both loved to torture the people that took on their stones from the word go to prey on their weaknesses. Whatever Nyrelle initially thought she wanted likely aligns with Mephisto so he sees no need to ruin a good thing.

The ages of the people who are present in D2 and in D4 give me the feeling that we are the descendants or the actual people who helped to destroy Baal from Diablo 2. According to the timeline, Diablo 1 took place in 1263 of the Sanctuary calendar, and Diablo 2 took place over the following two years. Diablo Immortal took place five years later, with Diablo 3 occurring 15 years after that. However, Diablo 4 is taking place a whopping 50 years after the events of Reaper of Souls. When we first saw Meshif in D2 he is a seasoned sailor and middle age to young man? No age is known. But he is in D4? Let’s say he is 25 in D2 then 15 years till D3 that’s 40 then 50 years later in D4 he is 90 years old… so it’s totally possible that we are Nephalem from D2 that made it D3 and our journey and power gained along the way from bathing in Prime evil blood has kept us youthful. Rogues are Amazons and Assassin and Demon Hunters all the same people. Sorse is Sorse, wizards Necro is necro, witch doctors and Necro. Barb… Druid…

I am convinced that "piercing hatreds heart" refers directly to killing mephisto himself, and not to lilith piercing Inarius' hateful heart. Hateful heart does not equal hatreds heart. So in my eyes the prophecy has actually not been fulfilled yet. Also given the way Diablo 4 ended, i would be very surprised if Mephisto, the lord of hatred, is not set free/released. The ending is set up for future dlc/expansions to have a Mephisto boss fight. I believe that when we kill Mephisto in that future expansion, is when the prophecy will be fulfilled. Or the prophecy might just be a macguffin that will drive the story of Diablo 4, and it's expansions for years to come. Anyways that is my take. Great video, once again. i still don't fully understand why we killed lilith in the end. Her goal was to slay the prime evils and become the ruler of hell and sanctuary. Throughout the story of diablo, Lilith made it clear that she cared for humanity. Whether it was because she wanted to use the nephalem for her own cause, or because she really did care for them, i think it's beneficial for the humans either way. Let's say she doesn't actually give a fuck about the humans, and only wants to use them as an army for her to conquer hell. We, the player, would've helped her with that as her strongest ally and probably defeated all the prime evils and make her the ruler of hell. At that point, the Humans and Lilith and the demons who follow her would be allys, the humans would probably be thankful for Lilith's actions because she defeated the prime evils who terrorized Sanctuary for many years. That would create a strong bond between the humans and Lilith, at that point neither side would have any reason to betray the other. Let's not forget that Lilith is the MOTHER of sanctuary and the humans, why would she turn against her creation and choose to destroy humanity, now that they've even helped her reach her ultimate goal. I think the story could've played out like this, and i don't see why we didn't side with lilith. Idk if i'm just stupid and don't know enough about the lore but that's the way i see it

He was able to corrupt a whole civilisation from his soulstone burried in an underground temple in diablo 2...do you think he couldn't manipulate and corrupt people that easily in diablo 4, especially with his soul being in Hell, in his domain where he's at his strongest? Dude was still "weak" but no where as weak as in the beginning of the events in diablo 2. Everything in diablo 4 yet is just happening exactly how he wanted it to happen, i'm pretty sure. Mephisto was playing us from the very start, and manipulating us. Lilith is absolutely brutal but also sort of right. The player characters/cast just saw her methods as way too brutal and short term most mortals aren't going to care about something that's going to benefit them generations down the line. They won't be alive to see it, and in the short to mid term it's just going to be mounting losses for humanity. Her being immortal means she cares little for the short term (even if short term for her is spanning potentially dozens if not more human generations), she only cares about winning the war as a long term goal so there isn't a conflict anymore. Honestly I think her character was fairly consistent and it was pretty obvious she cared about her first born son. She "seemed" to respect most of the main cast and had little respect for blind followers or cultists. Even though they served her, they were only a means to an end to help cause enough chaos to get beings such as Andariel and Duriel summoned to Sanctuary (and she mentioned using Andariel as a font of power, which shows how little she regards powerful beings from Hell). I highly doubt she would wipe out humanity, it doesn't fit her character. I truly think her end game goal was literally to rampage through every domain of hell, and in the process that would simultaneously cull a lot of humanity to where only the strong would survive. With hell out of the picture they would turn on the heavens, with the only remaining domain being Sanctuary itself. If for whatever reason Heaven/Hell can't ever TRULY be vanquished the power of the humans of Sanctuary would just be way too overwhelming for either side to ever rise up. Something that is often overlooked is that the heavens were fairly close to moving against Sanctuary and just culling them right from the start. Then also 50 years prior to the events of D4 Mathael rampaged through Sancatury culling roughly 50% of humanity. Which is why she would never be content with just stopping with hell. Inarius was far more accurate representation of "hatred" in D4 than Mephisto and Lilith were (but that was likely amplified by the eons of Mephisto torturing him).

As others have said we may go to the western continent but maybe Neyrelle has to stab the wolf with the soulstone? To set Mephisto free. But again its not a spear. I figured Nyrell stabbing Mephisto with the soul stone was the prophesy Spear of light: Soul stone (it literally glows) Heart of Hatred: Mephisto's core, he's Hatred incarnate Bound in chains: Mephisto in hell (it's said that we could close the doors of hell on Lilith leaving her in there, and also meaning he might be stuck down there for now) by putting him in the soul stone, we have effectively set him free from hell. This could be what he wanted

Tyrael made a choice to become a mortal, but was still allowed back into the High Heavens, though he was also an archangel, and that might give him more freedom in the High Heavens.

Tyrael is an aspect of justice, he became a mortal cause he viewed it as just, this is why tyrael was kicking imperiuses ass when they fought, because he is much stronger when fighting for justice

How did Prava survive the hell spawn attack? She was literally swarmed with them

Mephisto probably saved her during the battle, it took place in his very own domain after all. Also she's very clearly corrupted by hatred at this point, she'll probably serve Mephisto in the future. He'll take over and corrupt the Church of Light through her just like he took over and corrupted the Zakarum faith in D1 and D2. So he probably kept her alive as his pawn.

I also suspect that Mount Arreat has some sort of special power as it was the location where the World Stone was hidden from both Heaven and Hell when Sanctuary was started. Perhaps it is the most ideal location to hide any soul stone from any beings. Putting a soul stone back in Mt Arreat would also give back purpose to the now aimless Barbarian tribes.

Yeh I do think it's the most likely location
