not going to lie Blizzard are probably lining up the Nerf bat for this one so im which ever team doesnt get nerfed into oblivion as i dont trust Blizzard
Arch Lash. getting that 20% to cast skills while not in currents on a power level 800 staff with basic damage + close range enemies damage + crit damage and 2 gems for the + basic damage is just stupid easy and good. Constant barriers and no resource management ever while I just watch people die in hellrifts or nightmare dungeons I think I've died maybe three times from 62-77 in world tier 4
if you go to the “codex of power” you can look through all of the aspects until you find the one you want, (if it’s not there it’s legendary specific and can only be acquired through RNG) and you can select “pin to map” and even if you haven’t even discovered the location it’ll put a pin in that location for you. In case anybody didn’t know.
The must have fixed it then because I wanted to get a aspect fro ma dungeon so I tried it pin it. but you can't pin dungeons you haven't discovered yet.
I hear you at the end of the day games are meant to be fun with some challenge. Game companies especially Blizzard seem like all they do is nerf tons of stuff instead of adding things or making tje other builds more competitive. I don't mind if it gets a nerf but most sorcerors seems like only ice is worth having
Thank you for the amazing guide - having a ton of fun blasting through content with it around lvl75. Can you please consider adding a full paragon board, as well as best stat priority for each item slot? Thanks! :)
Just to note that the build guide on the website allocates 59 points... One point needs to be removed from Glass cannon, as you have that point from one of your items (blue number) :) Oh - And Enchant should be Fire Bolt, not Fire Ball :)
I don't think that simply because a strong build exists that it deserves a nerf. Let's not overlook the time it will take to build this to the point where its viable. The gear, the paragons, the levels, the aspects...its not like this is OP at lvl 10. I like the goal of knowing a god build exists and working hard to build and fine tune it so that I'm as strong as possible. Idk, just my point of view.
Doesnt take long to build this. Can have this going at level 40, the paragon stuff isn't really necessary. But it's basically the same as everyone is running with sorc. The constantly above 100 mana part requires some better gear and paragon but it's also not that much stronger. Putting in aspect of control and just more flat crit chance in items works fine. He doesnt show it here but mana actually drops below 100 often so that extra crit chance is online less often than you think. And 60% crit chance is good but you can also just get that from crit chance on rings, amulet, gloves and off-hand. Costs you 5 to 6 affix slots. Now he uses an aspect and a bunch of affixes to keep mana high. Personally i run less mana reduction, lucky hit, mana increase and just run more flat crit chance which performs about the same.
It really isn't in much danger of being nerfed. This, and every other Sorc build at the moment, isn't a strong build for pushing really hard content. Its only OP for speedrunning, mid-tier.
I really appreciate the fact that you show how the build is played here. Copying a build from someone else without understanding how it should be utilized doesn’t really help. Great job!
I can't stress enough how awesome and thorough your builds are. I've been following your sorc arc lash build guides for the past few weeks and I've improved my dps a lot. I will give ice shards build 3rd chance (3rd is a charm, right?) but follow your recommendations this time as on the video all looks so amazing. Please keep the content going. You're amazing!
@@RitaThePally nevertheless I appreciate the time the guy has spent to put a video together which is better than scrolling down on a page for the same. Been there, done that and this form is simply better for me
Been doing basically this except instead of damage vs burning you can actually stack tons of damage+damage reduction vs chilled enemies and use the frostbolt enchantment (Does require a different board though). Ice Shards doesn't inherently Chill. This means even enemies you have not Frozen yet count as "controlled" when you're just spamming ice shards. It also means you get another source of Freeze, as each ice shard does 15% chill which eventually becomes a Freeze even if your Lucky Hit doesn't Freeze them first. Given the way the build works probably more of a preference, but figured I'd toss it out there for people who want to stick with the ice theme ^_^
all ice spells have a 5% chill built in. so yea it does chill by default but it takes 20 shards hitting a target to freeze them where with the frostbolt enchant it takes 4-5.. IMO the frostbolt enchant is way better because it helps knock down bosses.
There are some important things about this build that people need to know before committing any extended amount of time to it. First of all, this build DOES NOT function as intended if you don’t have the aspect of frozen memories. Period. The mana retention is simply not there. And as it turns out, after a little research, the aspect of frozen memories is one of the RAREST aspect drops on the game. I have a level 61 Ice Sorc, with the exact same skill tree, the exact same aspects (except for aspect of frozen memories because it hasn’t dropped after 61 levels and maybe hundreds of dungeon runs), the exact same uniques, and here’s the real kicker, I have 30% more lucky hit on my build than you do, literally. IT DOES NOT RETAIN MANA CONSISTENTLY WITHOUT THAT ASPECT. Both of the uniques I needed have dropped before this aspect has dropped, that’s how rare it is. If you’re gonna do this build, there’s a REALLY high chance you’ll get sick of playing it before the necessary aspect drops. There needs to be a HUGE asterisk next to the title of this video. Player beware.
agreed. i had something with the aspect roll and threw it on a weapon like an idiot. i'm making it work, the crits get back mana and after getting over 30% mana cost, etc it makes mana use still viable. the aspect is very helpful. hopeful to see it roll/drop again in the future for me. i came from the arc lash/lightning level build to this and it's night and day in damage IMO
Great setup! I like your ice shards build a lot better than your arc lash! Just using different glyphs though. My damage and clearing has improved a lot since shifting to this build! Finally feels like I am playing a sorcerer. Arc lash was too up close and melee, I would rather play the barbarian or druid if that's what I wanted. Used arc lash till 55, was good, but couldn't clear WT4 content with it. Since I got ice shards, WT4 dungeons are a breeze, I am at level 65 but doing WT4 tier 22 dungeons
Nicely done, going to try this out. Been loving Ice Shard Sorc. Note that you have one too many points in your Skill Tree in the guide. Your Glass Canon skill point is coming from a passive (item).
This feels stronger than arc lash by a mile. I’m tempted to switch builds when I can get the gear I need. But at the same time I feel like this will get nerfed, so sticking with arc lash could be better
It’s so much better that I doubt it gets nerfed to worse than arc lash. Spoken from an arc lasher. The real difference is that arc lash requires ult. You suck without it. Not fun. This is so much better, you just have to be able to solve mana
Stick with arc lash imo. The build above is solid for sure, but arc lash with a bunch of defensive CDs can also stunlock/annihilate groups well above your level (use arc lash and teleport enchants to bounce in place for the stunlock and frost nova into arc lash to clear packs). The barrier on CD passive and the arc lash enchant activates everytime you evade if you have the teleport enchant, so you can keep up a stunlock for a super long time while doing pretty crazy damage with teleport.
@@StacattoSoul the main problem that I have with arc lash is like the person mentioned above, it basically relies on having your ult, it does okay damage without but it elites are mostly just standing around waiting for your ult to come back so you can melt the room lol.
I can't see this getting nerfed. Still need gear to male it mana efficient. Without gear, running around like an idiot waiting for mana to regen. And stop saying the nerf word. They can balance stuff, but one reason I quit WOW is because of the constant nerfs. You would get a character where you wanted it or "almost" where you wanted it and it would get nerfed. They need to just buff other classes instead of nerfing all the time.
@@Greebus1 that’s what I’ve been saying since the first hot fix, they’re going to lose their playerbase if they keep mindlessly nerfing things. The game has been out for a little over a week and there’s already been what, 4 hotfix’s all filled with nerfs and a total of like 3 buffs. They’re gonna lose their players before the first season even drops lmao.
Ive slowly been shifting from an invincible aoe bomb using ice with fireball enchantment which chain-kills my entire screen but ice shards and freeze has proven to be the best element of all 3. I really wish we had arcane for non elemental magic.
Well I can already do dungeon 20 levels above me with the arc lash build you posted a week ago. Seems slower than ice shard to clean but I like going melee
Thoughts on meteor for the crazy immobilize damage from that fire passive? I have an extra 3 ranks in the passive so I think it's 150x to immobilized enemies. Pre casting meteor then teleport grouping enemies on the meteor is so satisfying and does crazy damage. The aspect that makes inferno drop meteors sounds crazy too but inferno cool down makes it seem less worth it.
Building this right now. Level 56. Have almost every single aspect but don’t have the 2 uniques yet but man my sorcerer is powerful! And I’m getting all the altar of lilith right now so that’ll definitely boost my damage life and armor and strength.I actually got some really good boots. 2 ranks of flame shield, ice armor, and frost nova and I upgraded them to level 5 so I gain 3 ranks now.
One affix you should really see if you can snag, which I've only seen on one item so far, is +3 Ranks of Devouring Blaze. I have it on my amulet. So that puts me at +6 ranks, which is 60% Critical Strike Damage against burning enemies, and 150% !!! if they are immobilized.
@Luiz Cavalcante Shit you're right I forgot about that. But with the build I am reading up on and building into you would cast meteor, teleport in to suck enemies in before meteor lands, frost nova, ice shards
with unique chest ur teleport is an aoe grip + stun up to 3 seconds easy to proc if you cant 1 shot in this rotation put a meteor on top free immobilze by then everything should be gone but to be fair ice shards wont struggle with trash in terms of dps output higher keys require good cd juggling and using unstoppable from tp as well as immunity from fire armor and filling the gap if frost and fire armor are on cd cause by then everything just 1 shots you it starts at around 45-50 that u have to pay a little bit more attention bosses at that key range with decent gear are no issue at all but i can see they can become and issue the higher u go cause many of your damage comes from frozen stunned immobilize enemies and all that wont happen on a boss
ice shard feels more wizardy than melee tank lightning but god I wish other builds would get buffed/be viable so I could play meteor storm build or fireball spam or anything more interesting than smaking things with a lightning wip for 10 hours straight
I followed this build as you have shown and I kept running out of mana constantly and having to run around kiting mobs for it to regen. I absolutely must had missed something about this build. I went back to an arc lash build that consistently melts mobs down without ever having to deal with mana issues.
You could try removing 2 points from 'elemental dominance' and 1 point from 'devouring blaze' and instead put 1 point into 'Enhanced ice armour' and 2 points into 'fiery surge'. Once you attain better gear and mana seems to be less of an issue, you can then slowly respec those points back into the former damage boosting passives.
@@carefreeblues25 the build doesnt actually call for elemental dominance, same with Glass Cannon, if you see they are blue meaning he is getting them from gear (i was tearing my hair out cause i was following the build but was couldnt get avalanche until i saw that damned BLUE 1 on Glass Cannon lol
Yeah I spent like 2 hours extracting, enchanting, imprinting, everything I would need, respecced all my ability and paragon points, set my skills, walked out onto the battlefield and fired a few times and immediately ran out of mana. He did mention it briefly in the video that the stats are key here but how are you supposed to get them? Just farming legendary and rare items until you find ones with the right stats? Enchanting only allows you to change a single affix and becomes prohibitively expensive very quickly. Seems like you’d have to farm passively for a few days on another build in order to gather the stuff you need for this build, but maybe I’m missing something. Now I have a broken build and can’t afford to even go back without saving up a bunch of money and time to respec and reequip everything. Testing new builds seems way too risky, expensive and time consuming for me to keep trying things. Just my opinion. Great build, great video, looks like a lot of fun but I failed hard at reproducing it and now I’m stuck.
FYI in your build in the link provided on moba, you are using 59 skill points. After looking around it seems you are wearing a piece of gear that is giving you +1 to Glass Cannon which is giving you the extra skill point in build
i have a question why get burning instinct as the 2nd board? yes we have firebolt enchantment but i don't really see mobs burning that often pretty much they die quick while frozen.
Did you get rid of accelerating aspect or move it and ditch another one? If so which cause I was thinking of using Frostburg but I wasn't sure if it was overkill, any suggestions where I can farm the unique pants? Thought I'd ask ya lol 😮
Sad it's like unfinished build you didn't show which path to take on last board and did no update video since then. I liked a lot of Build videos for a lot of Games from Rage Gaming but if you do not finish the build I didn't know if I will follow along your builds for games!
there has got to be a crazy fire build out there. one im curious about is if the enemy has more burning dmg than health you deal like up to 50% increased dmg or more. curious how viable that one actualy is.
Base burning damage is really slow as is so the aspect is kinda necessary to make it viable. I haven't tried building fire yet, but I'm thinking fireball or meteor is probably the best mana spender to build it around. I'd imagine between firewall enchants and aspects you could probably see some pretty crazy crits with fireball.
ive been doing frozen orb build which just melts, errrr, freezes the enemies so quickly in wt4. but ive been sitting on an ice shard aspect that pierces 9!!! times, with only 21% reduction per enemy. almost a perfect ancestral aspect. might have to switch to this build soon.
Watch out! If you have 9 times pierces, it means it is on a staff (+100%) so you wont be able to equip any left hand. Unfortunately, left hand is quite mandatory cause of the cooldown reduction AND mana cost reduction 🤷♂
@@musicJCpeinard you are right it is on a staff. i am currently using the Umbral Ring which generates 4 mana per enemy CCed so mana stays constantly filled, unless the middle of a boss battle things do slow down a bit. But im only level 74, gear will be completely different at level 100. Thanks for letting me know that if i extracted the aspect it would reduce the shard count though. i thought it was higher shard count because it was ancestral.
Currently running Arc Lash with 100% attack speed legendary that synergizes with Esus Mastery, It is rediculously fun to proc that kind of attack speed with the dmg of a staff.
@@Dizeliun Esus Mastery is at the very bottom of the skill tree. It is a signature passive that procs when you kill with a crit. There is a legendary that gives attack speed (100% on a staff) when you proc it. Im using it on a staff. Basivally i teleport in, stun them with raiment, frost nova, kill aoe down some trash to proc the attack speed, pop ult and mow down huge packs of elites, constant frost novas because everythimg is just dying while frozen. Its fun. 😁
Thank you for finally admitting it was time to look at Ice Shards. I’ve been following your Arc Lash leveling and it’s been great, but right now Ice Shards is the better endgame build. I’m at level 60 and I’m planning to switch over before 70.
I enjoyed the horse driveby & your reaction! Serious note though - Love the build, it's certainly fun. I have found level 40+ nightmare dungeons to require more survivalbility than this build offers though specifically in the helm & legs slots ( replacing iceheart brais) It feels like a bit of a breakpoint where things have to change. Loved the video & style though.

this is very good, though i have some doubts with the piercing ice shards legendary aspect, because i don't think it is working properly with the "ricochet" part of the ice shard modifier (i mean, i think they just pierce insted of ricochet + pierce)
They definitely ricochet, but it seems like it only works when hitting the very first enemy. Any shard that pierce enemies no longer have a chance to ricochet, in my experience.
I think maybe the Conceited Aspect would be better in your ring than the Storm Swell one? It also gives bonus damage when you have a barrier, but the target doesn't have to be vulnerable, AND it has a higher min and max roll range. It's better in every way than the one you're using, unless I'm missing something.
id really like to see some changes to incinerate... like a legendary that allows you to dodge while channeling it. I really wanna make a incinerate build with meteor but i just dont see it working in nightmare
@@xAtlasOnFirex no bc im not "waiting for someone" to make a build for me. I come here to see what others are doing, not to wait idly until another vid comes out, lol.
What are your thoughts on the extra "key passive" avalanche aspect? Seems to be super OP for me when faced with only 2-3 enemies for conserving mana. Just wondering everyone's thoughts on it?
Great video! I am working on a similar build but I use ice shards and blizzard with ice blades. Using those skills from extreme range is the way to go... As I do not have great gear I am using prodigy's aspect as well as aspect of umbral and avalanche to keep the mana reasonable. I will give shatter a try. When I get the right gear I will transition away from those aspects...
I did like this. i struggled alot for a while but then i added blizzard as you said to farm, xp runs and now its more enjoyable. im only 74 but with my gear im only pushing up to tier 20. anyway thanks for the advice. im more fragile but more powerful also. great guide again...
Just upgraded some gear to get the lucky hit to restore primary resource over 40%. Loving the build and videos. Keep up the great work! I dont find using 3 points into the passive that gives damage reduction when spending mana as i dont feel i take damage with mobs frozen. Question. I thought you would want to out 1 point where you add chill effect when barrier is up because ice shards doesn't inherently have any chill/slow/CC. So to help get bosses to break, adding 1 point to this passive will help
Correct me if i'm wrong, ice shard doesn't apply chill enemies. Which means the rare nodes on Icefall board that increases damage to chilled enemies might not be worthwhile.
Isn't the conceited aspect actually better than storm swell? 25%[x] damage to enemies when you have a barrier, instead of 20%[x] when you hit vulnerable and barrier?
Just an FYI the elementalist glyph doesn't appear to boost the two rare nodes that you're saying it will. In the frigid fate board I can see the values of the rare nodes increase by what the glyph says it will. The elemenalist glyph doesn't appear to do the same thing. IE the nodes still say 15 and 6% respectively in the icefall board.
Jesus Christ, if I see one more D4 video titled, most stupendous perfect awesome end game destroyer of worlds over powered NASA approved ultimate dps over power 9000. I am going to just puke everywhere =D
I just found the Iceheart Brais last night and what a difference that made to clearing packs, I will try this build when I get home since I still struggle with mana.
I've been using almost the same setup, other than one or two points difference in passives and aspects (i'm going more defensive with stacking armor aspect and reduced damage from vuln/cc'd). The main difference is i'm slotting exploit in starting board and destruction in burning instinct. A lot more dex available there. Currently with lvl15 glyph i'm getting 73.7% crit multi there and that's a pretty hefty damage multiplier, plus crit multi is harder to come by so scaling this glyph seems more impactful.
@@Zaraki-r1y fire bolt enchantment - makes all your damage skills burn. you don't even need it on your skill bar and you don't even try to scale it, it's just for synergies in paragon board and in passives it enables
@@PrettyboyPa It's quite similar to the one presented in this video, only right now my 4th board is elemental summoner for 20 max mana (more uptime of crit chance bonus from aspect) and i'm picking more good rare/magic clusters along the way if they're close enough. But icefall actually sounds great and content is getting harder right now in nightmare 48-52 (lvl88) so I might try that instead and see how it feels. My glyphs right now are start - expoit(15), burning instinct - destruction(15), frigid fate - tactician(15), elemental summoner - elementalist(10), focusing on activating additional bonus on them, and picking every possible dex on burning instinct for crit multi.
Im almost positive that you wont have 60% lucky hit chance on ice shards. If im not mistsken, all + lucky hit chance is an additive modifier to the base lucky hit chance of the spell you're using. Ice shards has a base lucky hit of 16. Not sure if its per shard or per cast but even +100% lucky hit chance would really give 32% lucky hit on ice shards
This build is absolutely wrecked. I got lucky and got +7 shards on the necklace. Esu’s unique boots made things absurd. I am not even off board 2, but was running the 80+ Necromancer through the T3 Capstone as level 61.
Ok finally got to the end I have all the lucky strike stuff I have the supposed mana return and I have avalanche. I still lose all my mana. Please if I’m supposed to have some kind of special armor that needs to be 100% in the first seconds of the video. Because right now I’ve invested all my points into a build that loses mana in five seconds
Completely unrelated but your Sorc is named Aylia, I rerolled from Sorc to Rogue and named my character Kylia yesterday. Thought that was a fun coincidence lmao
2 legendaries that might help are the take 20-25% less damage from CC or vulnerable enemies and deal 5-10% more damage while standing still per second up to 30%. turns a 6k damage build into 8k damage build in 3 seconds
also the flame shield legendary that lets you move through enemies and immobilize them for x seconds is powerful as is the 'if a core skill hits 5 or more enemies, 20-40% primary resource is refunded' unique
The Elementalist Glyph does nothing there. Elementalist improves nodes related to non-physical damage, but those nodes add/reduce damage to/from chilled enemies... they don't, for example, add cold damage.
Like this build but after investing in the Arc Lash build, this is something to work towards and keep an eye out for drops. I'm also still using the build with fireball as the one with firebolt just doesn't feel as great with my gear (but will switch out stats later and try again).
Didnt found the answer anywhere, and this is the closest related video I found, so I try my luck here: Any insight about Incendiary aspect? I mean, did anyone manage to confirm or deny, if it works with burning from Fire Bolt Enchantement? Cause if yes, than it should be perfect for mana sustainability, WDYT?
This may be a dumb question, but since i don’t understand im going to ask anyway. Why choose firebolt if its not being used? The enemies arent burning so i don’t understand how it synergizes with the frost build? Im sorry but im new to builds in diablo games. I usually just brute force my way through them
