With the most recent developer livestream for Diablo 4 we got some hints to some future content and update that may come in a future season. This main piece of this information being the potential for the ability to change the element or damage type of skills, and example being able to change hydra from fire damage to lightning damage.

Well, since every gaming companies copy from one to another, I was wondering why like one example: Grim Dawn, you can change your skills to other elements with items. So they could add more aspect that would change the skills damage type, or items.. And yes now the Game would finally begin to feel good. Even if they do the loot reborn, I am sad about that instead of letting us play the way we want (they said it themselves), they introduce one specific item/skill for the season, which will change every season. So if I like Blizzard on Sorc, and all they do is other skills, I can wait 10 seasons to perhaps get one new item for it, lame. At least D3 Sets, we had a cosmetic.. Can't wait for Spirit"reborn" because even if it sucks, at least it'll be fresh with new skills.. Thanks for the vid as always

Well if they do do this they need to make sure to change the visual of the skill when cast especially for sorc class in particular

@@KnightmareTX That's the expectation right? The visuals and particle effects? Because 100 fire damage (if you've a fire build) vs 100 lighting damage (if you've a lightning build) is the same. Grim Dawn has this convert 100% of fire as lightning for example, so your 100 fire damage would count. Anyway, crossing fingers they'll do it.. before 2026..

What people don't understand is gaming is not like it was back in the day. Games are live stream games now. So we get a game we play and it evolves as time goes on. All we can do is play give feedback and hope they listen for the next season.

Live service games suck and shouldn't be a thing in every game. Just allow it to have an online mode and allow coop in it and that's it.

One idea I had to improve the skill tree in a kind of unique way is the idea of "Skill Swapping". The idea is that each class has a selection of skills that can be swapped for a skill from a different cluster in the tree. The skills then function in a way that suits the cluster it has been moved into but still fits the theme of the original skill. It's kind of too abstract to explain it like that so here's an example... Take the sorc skills, Ice Blades and Frozen Orb. Now swap them around so Ice Blades becomes a core skill and Frozen Orb becomes a conjuration skill. Casting ice blades performs a short range cleave type attack with one blade while the other blade appears and cleaves some random enemy elsewhere on the screen (or the same enemy in the case of a boss), it has a mana cost and no cooldown just like a core skill. Meanwhile Frozen Orb, as conjuration skill, conjures an orb that drifts around, loosely following the player, shooting ice bolts at random enemies until it explodes when its duration expires. Now apply this principle to several skills per class, including some options that result in the damage type changing to a different one. We'd get so much more functionality out of the skill tree without making it a convoluted mess.

It was available in d3 where every skill had 4 different type of runes where you choose what elements you want the skill to hit

Early in D3's development, the skill runes that we ended up with were actually an item that dropped on the ground. I was really disappointed when they removed it from D3 and had it so they all just unlocked as you levelled. I would love them to return to that idea: itemised skill runes that change a skill's effects but have some variation so that it feels good to find a perfect copy and so that it encourages trading. Just turn each skill node on the tree into a socket of sorts and have the skill runes slot into that to "sidegrade" each skill.

This is how poe's skill system works. There's even support skills that can be added to augment the base skill. more projectiles, convert physical to cold, faster cast speed, turn the skill into a turret, etc etc it's a shame the game is so off putting to new players, it's the most versatile build system i've ever seen.

Loved skill runes in D3. And LPowers that grant "All runes" letting you use the element you want. Stone of Jordan added all the more flexibility. Would be great to see this kind of build diversity expanded in D4.

i dont think the skill tree needs to be complicated, its just there for basic skills, the modifiers with ur gear and codex is where you really make ur build

I'm glad they are giving D4 an end game crafting system but all this talk about adding element changing tempering affixes is just ppl trying to make D4 into Last Epoch.

Just hit level 100 have yet to get a tempering manual it must be the most rare thing in the game I've done beat multiple world bosses nightmare dungeons did hell tides trying to get it out of cinder chests no luck this literally has made me just not want to play the game because ur only going to get so far without that

I agree but that would also create more balance issues and then streamers would continue to argue and the devs continue to fix and balance the game again and again. It should have been done before the game comes out though 😂

There's been this dream I've had of mixing all 3 blood bone and darkness skills with necro together and it is possible, but wt4 Uber lilith possible isn't there yet. This would allow for that! I would love this for tampering

Blizzard needs to stop trying to balance everything ans just let everything be OP and broken. If im farming for perfect pieces of gear i should be able to ge to the point i 1 shot anything in the game.

I really hope the developers will introduce rune words with Vessel of Hatred. It doesn't have to be the exact same system as in D2, but there should be runes with different rarity levels that we can farm and combine to create crazy builds. Rune words should be able to drastically change existing skills or add completely new skills to the character. Tempering stats should only enhance existing skills. Both systems should work in conjunction with each other and be expandable.

Yup and no; would be nice to have Runewords and no, because the improved itemization could almost make you a godlike already.

@@slickperspective2745 It can still be balanced afterwards, but I think runewords are a great system and they belong in Diablo 4. The powers from runewords must not be too strong, they should just enable new builds and playstyles and you would have to sacrifice other powers.
