I'm Raxxanterax and I make Build Guides, Leveling Guides, Tier Lists and More for Diablo 4, Last Epoch, Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2. Diablo 4 Season 5 is looking fantastic after seeing all the updates during today campfire chat. I see no one actually knows how pit works. 10 pit levels at this point are over 150% more health. You will be lucky to be doing 10 more pit levels than before lol

@@KiteVtuberDefender Yeah, it's true. I think the main issue with Pit scaling is that, in the absence of crazy things like legendary gems in D3 that scaled your power immensely regardless of build (same thing for set items there), your only avenue for real improvement of the amount needed to beat higher tier pits, is to play a busted build. The amount of power you can gain from masterworking (say, 100% normal additive damage) pales in comparison to switching from a normal build to a meta one that does 4x more multiplicative damage, etc. It's kinda sad. It's not about finetuning your build, it's about copying whatever is the current promoted build by the patch.

@@zeriel9148 With extension we will have Legendary Glyphes, so maybe these glyphes will require to be leveled in Pit (or using Pit mats).

What the game needs more of : - More branches in the skill tree or a constellation type addition like grim dawn - More difficult bosses with better mechanics - Find a way to include strongholds in helltides , have them taken back by hell. Scale the bosses up and their attacks -Make side quest rewards more engaging -Add prestige levels aftet cap that give you random rewards -Add a chance of the butcher or some other boss to pop out of the hell tide worm -Add more horse dismount skills / add some additions or stats and skills for your mount -Add a tormented version of world bosses -Add the option of change the game title music to D2 tristrams song -Add some of the D2 music in game -Allow us to go through the campaign and gain a respleadent spark if you decide too -Add higher difficulties for the campaign so we can replay it -Rework dungeons - More reputation grinds like in season 4 heltides. Those were fun -More Mythic Uniques ( Vampgaze would be nice ) - The Buriza should be a name Unique bow and not a legendary New armor dyes ( earned in battle pass or reputation gain ) - Weapon dyes All in all, season 5 is looking great !

Haha, yeah. The thing is people conned themselves into thinking D3 sucked for the wrong reasons. They WERE right to criticize some storybeats and some of the art style. Not that I think D3's art style was BAD, just it could have been a bit better. But the gameplay was really good. I'd argue better than its predecessors, even compensating for how technology improved over time. I'd even say its gameplay fundamentals are better than D4 now. Ironically, despite people whining about D3's story, it was WAY better than D4's. D4's story is just... empty and awful all around. D3 had a few plotpoints that were really annoying (hello butterfly lady), but overall it had lots of cool stuff too and awesome set pieces. D4 is just this bland trawl through generic, repetitive environments with nothing that sticks out, certainly no memorable boss fights. I still like it somewhat overall because I love the genre, but people really should be more realistic about this, D4 still has a LOT of room for improvement even after the "fixes".

I think the biggest source of tension between the D3 and D4 storylines come from the fact that the stakes in D3 seem way higher and as a result, the insane power of your character fits. In D4, idk it just feels like they were originally going for a completely different type of game, slower and more exploration based. This causes the main narrative to unfold very slowly and to be fair, have pretty low stakes events when compared with previous Diablo games

@@sandman4663 Honestly I don't set a lot of stake on the stories in Diablo games. If you go back to the original series, they are basically just an avenue to show you cool stuff and the background of the world. D2 is carried hard by its awesome cinematics. Buuuuut comparing D4 to D3, it's missing a lot of the "meat" that was provided by voice-acted journal entries and the companion stories. The mercenaries in the expansion also look way less compelling than the characters of the companions in D3, but I can't judge until I see them in action. Setting that aside, the main reason I prefer D3's "campaign" to D4 is that it provides a huge catalogue of interesting, unique levels to be mined for the endgame content of rifts and before that Inferno. D4 has none of that--the open world design and the way they made every dungeon functionally the same is why I think the endgame fails to be as compelling. There just isn't a "there" there to be reused for endgame repetitive content. It's not all bad in theory. The open world design COULD be used better. It just isn't in the game so far. It would take a lot of work. I hope they are at least considering how they can better use the open world real estate, rather than abandoning it, which seems to be the patch trends so far. It's really bad. Instead of obsoleting stuff *like* renown and altars of lilith, we need /more/ stuff like that. Reasons to be out in the open world, even in endgame, reasons that aren't ONLY Helltides. Reasons to remind us that the different regions have identity and character. And if they DON'T have identity and character, well, they need to start adding that.

Who remembers an interesting mechanic in Diablo 3 where your teammates damage enemies (DOT?) then one person "snapshots" or magnifies/accumulate the damage with one attack from the Sever sword? I believe that effect eventually got nerfed, but was one of the few teamwork mechanics.

Glad the games making improvements, but after this season i'm out. I'm not shelling out more money for an xpac when POE and LE are there giving out free updates that typically are just better than whatever blizz is up to and now POE2 is just around the corner. I wish the best for all the diablo players, been here since the beginning of d2 in 2000 but blizz has pushed me to the point of apathy for the franchise and after getting 2 good seasons and the rest ranging from literal trash to meh for 70$, i'm just not gonna spend any more money to beta test their game for them. o7

D4 getting way easier for 5th season in a row, they're on a fast track to making it Diablo 3.5 i'm not happy with where it's going. And I honestly don't think any D4 content creator has any idea of what's good or bad for the game. The development team don't seem to have a vision of their own. They just take feedback from players who don't know what they actually want and make the game easier every season. Now they also removed fragments needed for bosses so you have constant access to all the bosses all the time and no need to earn anything in the game. They just hand you everything.

They have to keep making it easier as they're targeting the D2 fanbois. Needs to be easy with no competition so they can get their gear and look pretty, but don't actually have to prove themselves with leader boards in a Greater Rift fashion. Kind of a Gen Z thing, easy, get to feel like a bad ass and act as tho they are pro since there is no chance of being offended by someone checking their leader board position.

Grandfather actually gives even more than 300% dmg too. Cuz its intrinsic now give 150% too. So at base you're getting 450% increased damage before you take into account the chance for greater affixes and the masterworking. All the changes made to uniques makes me excited to play every single class in season 5

"Nothing to announce at this time" is pretty standard wording for "wait for DLC/expansion." I suspect it's not coming literally in S6 since Raxx knows a bunch of stuff about it even if he can't say (if he knew blues/yellows would be a thing in S6 he just wouldn't mention it here) but we know they have high level changes planned for after the expansion hits: Adam Jackson said as much when talking about updating all the class mechanics after VoH launches. My guess is that blue/yellow changes are on the docket for a large-scale chance in S7 or 8 and they don't want to say right now because A) not all the plans are finalized, and B) it's too far out and getting people kind of hyped a year in advance is worse than getting people really hyped a month in advance.

this feels like they know exactly how much gameplay time they can squeeze out each season and try to reduce the challenge as much as possible to avoid any kind of frustration so every average joe will proceed to play. honestly, i like it; D4 is fully acknowledging its casual status and min/maxes that to its full potential. fair enough, im down! most likely ending the last season before the expansion with a full blown BANG as the extra content might involve a new difficulty anyways making these changes redundant.

The "XP goes up as you progress higher" you mention in point 5c, my guess is that it means that the rep scales with enemy level and world tier. I dont know if it was actually how it worked in season 4 or not, but I had some friends who zoomed around torment 3 helltides because the rep gain was the same there as it was in torment 4 and they thought it was faster for maxing red that way.

The Rep EXP was the same for all WT’s (from my experience farming sparks). I’d spark on average in 5hrs, best being 4.5hrs (all in WT2). Speak times in higher WT’s took me on average 6-7 hours (with 9 being my worst). This would hopefully mean that sparking would take less time. ?

Dude, I absolutely agree with the beginning. Season 4 was a huge win, but things were so bad previous that it's hard to believe they will consistently make good decisions. While I don't love the decision to make Spiritborn, it DOES look fun, and now Season 5 looks great? Last Epoch still gets massive points right now while I scratch my Hammerdin itch, but instead of having to decide between the two games, I'll just play both. Somehow, they actually saved it. *knock on wood*

My problem as a casual gamer is that lvling 0 to 100 is just a boring grind. The game begins at lvl 100. Also the items you find in that grind is boring. You only do the same all of the time. This is what le does way better. The lvling is more fun because of the itemazation (fo). Just give an option to start at lvl 100 and then play the game. As a casual i dont have time 4 boring grind

It has nothing to do with competition. They have a DLC coming out that they need to sell really well. So obviously they have all hands on deck and trying to show the community - “Hey! We are listening and we are competent!

That’s been their motto for a while now. Honestly, the fact that they had zero public testing prior to releasing seasons was so baffling and told me so much about the initial status of the game. I’ve barely played since three weeks after launch and none of what I have seen since makes me want to go back. It’s cool people like it, but this game is so uninteresting to me. And I love arpgs and wanted to love this one. But I don’t. I keep my eye out to see if it’s getting to a place I might want to jump back in for, but everything I see seems to just be a reflection of what you said. That, and they don’t seem to have a focus of where this game is going.

Maybe they could steel PoE's Delve but call it Depths of Hell, you get a random-ish map over lay to show areas and then link item farming to that, with mini areas that as you travel you unlock other season content mini zones.

All the XP bonus for Reputation means is, when you turn in for having earned another Reputation Tier, you'll get a flat amount of XP.

Ptr problem is in future say like this ptr had they just given the compasses to play with then you wouldn’t have discovered how hard they are to get, you wouldn’t find the internal horde issues but then live no one could get in to play until it’s fixed

With how this game has developed from release, it feels like they filled D4 with the skeleton of a bunch of features/systems just so they could ship a “complete game with all of these features and systems” knowing full well they were going to spend the next 1 - 1.5 years actually finishing the game to what would be expected of a full release. It’s this feeling that immediately tamps down any excitement for this game, and feeling like we bought at full box price an extended beta that would hopefully cary folks over to the first xpac so they would buy that as well. Yup. This is modern AAA live service strategy. Only thing you forgot was to promote whatever they call the cash shop while they work on getting the game up to what it should have been at launch. Hype the game for launch, profit, then focus is on cash shop and doing just enough to keep people around. Cycle repeats. Remember when they gaslit everyone with how you could get items in game that look just as good as the shop. Turns out, that was total BS. But they were counting on that being memory holed, look at the new shiney thing that we should have done at launch, and now get excited for the next thing. Oh, and if you're bored check out the shop!

I'm not a simcraft guy or math guy anything just a semi-hardcoreish arpg enjoyer but I played Diablo4 in S4 for the first time because my old computer sucked, I still remember and the goosebumps I got from beating Uber Lilith solo with my Sorc even though sorc kinda sucked in s4, and also clearing pit 110 for the first time, it was challenging and memorable for me, hope the nerfs to HP isn't that dramatic but beating/overkilling everything in my path just like D3 will bore me. Changes so far and build variety looks fun imo but I hope they keep atleast a bit of challange in the game for even a semi-hardcore or even a casual guy like me.

Fireball builds are so going to be a thing now. With The Staff of Endless Rage +6 to Fireball, Gloves of the Illuminator +3 to Fireball, Harlequin Crest +4 to all skills and Ring of Starless Skies +2 to all Core skills you can achieve +20 to Fireball without doing any masterworking.

Devs tend to overkill stuff with theirs concept of how adjustments should look like. Say they heard about boss difficulty in the Pits. What they are going to do about it? Put there a mechanic that was introduced into Lilith/ Uber bosses fights with stacking debuff. That is pretty damn good change. On top of that, they remove one shots, which was the biggest pain of the encounters. Amazing. But now, on the very top of that, they reduce boss dmg by flat 2/3's - now that is an overkill. With the other mechanics in place, it would've been absolutely FINE. Stuff like that happened in past, a buff/nerf in S3 Vaults made them total peace of cake and not only that, it made them so easy to access that you had nothing to worry about, basically making the currency for entry useless, because if you have so many of it, the entry fee doesn't matter. So, the compass for Infernal Hordes will probably(?) be the same with changes above. All of that makes the game way too easy. Also, if they buffed a lot of the uniques and "mythic" items, then the power across the board will be WAY up, and if they nerfed the only place in game that characters would struggle, then those 2 combined will make the Pit stupidly easy and lvl 200 accessible by anyone.

A lot of the modifications come from aspects in this game. Everything works in tandem to create complexity. Can’t have 100% of the complexity in the skill tree. It’s that + aspects + paragon. If you play without copying other people’s builds it is actually decently fun and gets you thinking about your choices. Not saying they shouldn’t still look at it. Pretty sure leaks said all classes were getting new stuff in the expansion.

Interesting concept for rares - target enchanting. Imagine, if you will, getting gloves with +2 ranks to frozen orb. Let's say it's +x% vulnerable damage, +x% crit damage, and +2 ranks of frozen orb. When enchanting the desired item, you can disenchant this in the same screen; this limits the selection to random vuln, random crit, or random frozen orb. It's still random, but you now have some determinism when doing enchanting and adds a ton of value into yellows again.

Regarding XP going up as you gain more Reputation, I think they mean the XP you get from getting the Reputation rewards.

As a HC main the scariest part of the game was +10 lvls mindcaged Maiden fights while leveling...+30 lvls Maiden fights while leveling, and I'll be lucky to hit lvl cap ever in season 5...And I can't NOT do mindcagex3, the game won't allow me

No changes to the biggest problem with the infernal hordes (the boring banes and boons), the unique item rework being pretty underwhelming for every item not called out in the stream, and the suggestion that meaningful changes to the skill twig are way way off.

After reading the patch notes and see the changes to the unique they did not showcase, well i am not convinced at all. Not much changed and ok if you feel to play what the dev encourage you to do because they made a cool twist on few of the unique(fireball/blood mist...), there is not much build variety and 80% of the uniques barely changed or were even nerfed somehow.

It will likely come back season 6. 2 seasons straight without one isn’t bad though. I rather not have one if it isn’t good. Season 3 Construct mechanic was a chore for me, I finished the season pass and didn’t come back.

D4 is dead to me for one simple reason. Full price expansion. The game itself had had great updates to existing systemsz but nothing meaningfully new. All the good content aside from pit is updated existing at launch content. I kept thinking they were working on something for an update but then the trailer happened and I realized that D4 doesn't care about giving us new content. They just want to sell us full price expansions while other arpgs provide this content in mass for free.

It might've been a slip (because they never referenced it again), but I'm like 99% sure that I've heard them confirm in some previous livechat, that the Skill Trees of the 5 initial Classes will be updated with the Expansion. But I think that this might not include more options to upgrade individual Skills, just more Skills and Passives

Great to see the developers making fundamental changes to D4, it shows they're putting in a lot of effort. However, it feels like they're still trying to find their footing with the game. While many of the developers seem quite competent and passionate individually, it doesn't seem like this passion is fully unified across the team. Listening to feedback is crucial, but it feels like they're relying too heavily on guesswork rather than having a clear vision.

100% with you on the skill trees, the damage options are pretty good, but utility choices in d4 are just dire, every single class is basically taking the same 2-3 utility skills in every single build and there's no feeling of getting this awesome synergy between your abilities. Imo they should just plaster vulnerability onto basically every damaging utility now, vulnerability is just too core to literally every single build that you have to have it and only having 1-2 abilities that apply it per class (some even needing a legendary just to do so) cuts down on build viability way too much

I like all that I've heard mostly. This season I've made 4 level 100 characters. But sadly with my line of work I'm gonna barely get one character to 100. I'm 50 years old and still love diablo and all the lore. But sadly my work calls and working 6 days a week 12 hours a day will not leave much time for the next few months. The one thing I thought was a scummy move by the devs and the campfire showcase is that they massively changed 3 uniques in every category and made them seem incredibly good HOWEVER everything else got minor changes and you can see how Rax just kind of skims through them because it’s not that impactful of a change. It was kind of disappointing to see/hear the devs say “yeah we completely changed almost all uniques, we changed this, this, and that” but then the reality is no, they only really changed 3 uniques in every category and everything else got 2 affix changes and a slight buff if at all to the legendary power. That being said it’s still a positive direction for the game.

Don't knock that 66% damage reduction on pit bosses. For people like me who do only one build a season that opens up more possibilities. When I'm picking a build guide, I check if a build is good for leveling, speed farming, end game/pit, and bossing. Nothing kills selecting a specific build faster than if it falls flat at bossing and is below average at very high nightmare dungeons and can't go very deep in the pit. Lowering the initial damage on pit bosses will make what Maxroll calls "C Tier" builds in the end game/pit and bossing more enticing to try instead of dismissing out of hand.

I think this is an impact of internal changes to project direction that enabled them to get more resources and developers onboard to work on all these new features and changes as an attempt to save D4. They're reporting to Microsoft now, after all - and it looks like they don't want the Diablo brand to die. At least not yet anyway.

I never played any diablo and in 4 days I was level 78 with a full build and a good understanding of the game, it's an easy game, I don't know if making it any easier will be better in general, it will trivialise most content, everything is easy.

Maybe I missed it, but did they actually add anything this season beyond a couple leveling dungeons? More balance and gear changes is nice and needed. But its hardly enough to call it a season. I enjoy D4. I have since the launch in short spurts. But so far the best mechanic they have come up with was a turbo mode recolored helltide. I wish they would show a seasonal mechanic to show to me they have anyone at all there with an imagination.

Paragon starts at 50, and is not a skill tree. It’s an addendum to what you already have and nothing in there is a skill that can be slotted. I wouldn’t mind seeing them do something similar to constellations in grim dawn. That could be cool, and would add some much needed diversity to builds.

Crazy how Blizzard still hasn't figured out how to remove boss rotas from the game, forcing MMO gameplay into an ARPG that has zero group-finding infrastructure or scam protection for said rotas. Maybe they'll solve this problem by next year.

@@mickiekatsuragi2690 That is straight up cancerous design if it's intentional. ARPGs are not MMOs, and forced multiplayer is bad. Rotas are antithetical to the rest of the game's design. Happening by people and working alongside them at points of interest in the open world is vastly different than rotas. The former is highly effective. The latter, considering the game lacks a group-finder or scam protection in rotas (P2P trading has two layers of scam protection) is simply asinine. Group play shouldn't have a 4:1 loot advantage over solo play. Straight up. This alone will prevent me from playing D4 for more than a day or three per season until it's resolved. It makes the game strictly inferior to PoE and LE. Strangely enough, LE released its first pinnacle boss that has a material requirement, and it didn't suffer from D4's year-old rota issue, right out of the box.

@@pmkaboo2446 The burden of optimal play forces you to do rotas. I'm not cutting my loot by 3/4 to eschew from grouping. The simple and very obvious solution is to either require all group members to offer summoning mats, or to only drop loot for the person who summoned the boss. The loot to material ratio needs to be the same for solo play and all forms of group play. Neither should be superior to the other. If you have friends you want to play with, great, you should be able to play with them without feel like you're gimping yourself. But if you're flying solo, you shouldn't feel forced to group with random strangers to get loot. I'll absolutely play more seriously when rotas are dead. An amicable solution to bricking rotas would be to also cut material cost by half and to double boss drops. This way, you raise the solo player loot to material ratio to a 4 man party's, rather than kneecap how much loot you get from rotas.

Hey raxx question about how the damage work exemple ceasless conduit Changed from 3% per 20 Intelligence to 2% per 20 Intelligence. Crackling Energy damage now caps at 120%[x] they say dmg caps 120% but i want to understand lets say i stack intel to the caps of the 120% the intel itself will give on its own another multiplier to all dmg correct?

It’s likely coming sometime s7-9. They had to finished loot2.0 and afffix rework before that and no way they drop it before the expansion. They have said since s3 they are working on it. It’s probably a huge undertaking since the odd way the game is built where stash and inventory of players is accessed constantly means it’s probably complex . Not an excuse, just an explanation

I think the skill tree does need to be reworked a lot. Add new trees and skills. This will increase the longevity of build making. There should be a more special tree for class specific characters. Making it feel more unique to play a certain class over another in a more buffed way. Even getting class specific Uber uniques would be fun. At least you know you have to grind for something. Druids are dead in the water. No incentive for me to play one. I wanted to try rogue only because of the late meta in s04. But defaulted back to my barb. I started out playing this game as a necro and just couldn’t clear pits 60-70. It’s hard af for necros. I’ve seen videos of ppl using them though for higher tiers but for an average Joe like me playing the game that’s hard af. Idk I like the changes they are doing though. I just hope it doesn’t get boring af just a month or two into it.

I really don't want the endgame necessarily to be ultra challenging, I don't think that's super important. The game should be challenging at some point though. Most games have multiple roadblocks along the way and endgame you're supposed to be strong as hell. When I'm super buffed out I just want to crush everything. Also, I don't really mind them moving difficulty away from the pits, as I think it's a bit of a black hole of all endgame content where it's a gauntlet, farm spot and challenge all in one. It should just be one of those. I would mind the pit a lot less as a singular leaderboard type of activity and then the masterworking mats to be available outside of the higher pit levels (in a different activity altogether), as it's a big bottleneck to lower tier builds.

Feels like they’re dancing around the games two main weaknesses, fixing the fringes while the core remains shallow

That’s probably a very accurate take. I don’t think anything has been confirmed yet, but they might be making some level cap and skill changes with the expansion. Rhykker has a video on it. They may be addressing some of that, but who knows. Ultimately I think you are right. They are putting band aids on cuts that need stitches.

Thanks Raxx not sure what I’m going to play yet was really hoping to play spiritborn everything other than Barb feels weak as far as defense and pushing pit not sure how this will be the king of the hill horde thing isn’t exciting to me it’s not endgame in S4 I ended up with the most busted Barb ever i wish instead of nerfing Barb they would bring the other classes up 😊 might not play S5 it’s an odd season which 3 was the worst and 1 was the 2nd worst seasons we had 3 was boring but at least leveling was easier I’m hoping for leader boards or something idk QOL changes are hopeful but I’m still not sure what to do when my Barb has 80k dmg 25k armor 60k life and there’s no challenge in the game what am I doing this for?

I know it’s because they’ve been fixing the core game but I hope season 3 didn’t destroy our seasonal themes going forward. A “reputation” is pretty weak as a seasonal. I liked season 2 and 3 (although 3 was implemented horribly)

Rogues poison trap id like to see changed. Instead of one trap per cooldown. Drop 4 traps then a cooldown... also have an aspect or affix to increase the amount of traps per cooldown.

Hey rax you said they reworked uniques making them interesting, saying they now actually do stuff we can theory craft around. I went to the patch notes where the uniques are listed and such a thing doesn’t exist. They literally just increased stats on the vast majority of them. This sadly does not increase theory crafting. One of the best ways for an item to improve theory crafting is for it to change the way a skill is played, it has to open the door for skills to have a new identity/playstyle. With Diablo 4 skill tree being overly simple, the skill tree CAN NOT provide this. This means the uniques have to pick up the slack…but they don’t.

Blues and Yellows only have a purpose when you are low level and they quickly become obsolete, which is fine, that is their purpose in the early game, but they should just stop dropping after a certain point. I have Blues and even WHITES dropping on a Lv100 character which is just dumb and feels bad, haha.

Bro, if only they made a passive skill tree, and each skill had a skill tree. That is my FAVORITE mechanic from last epoch. But D4 is SO SO casual friendly, which is my favorite part of D4. i just need a casual last epoch 😭 Not to mention diablo just FEELS better.
