Shtay a while, and listen ..... This is Tristram's theme from Diablo II, taken from the game 'mpq' file. The image in this video can be found here: www.battle.net/...
imagine being 13 and your sister meets a guy that has this game on his pc in 1999.... and he lets you come over on the weekends to play literally all day. He will never know how much i thank him for that
This is mind bogglingly beautiful. Whenever it seems like the song has found its way settling into a position, it switches into a slide, bend, different lietmotif of sounds. It's like six songs made into a cohesive whole, and the flow is just incredible. It really creates the feeling of a world that's dire, hopeless, but filled with a glimmer of hope.
+Creepy Pasta ofc it does, cuz its made by pride in doing an awsome work, sadly takeing pride in makeing awsome works these Days, atleast when it comes too games, is a horrible idea, cuz these Days, doing less is good, when it used to be doing more is good :(
It's music like this that got me into video game music in general to begin with. This song is so good that people can enjoy it without playing the actual game at all. It stands alone on it's own merit, as well as merging with the game perfectly. This makes it something that fans of the game will cherish for decades or even centuries to come. Never before had I been so ready to fight the lords of hell than when listening to this. I have not felt this way about many kinds of music ever since. There are many others, but they are rarities to treasure. So come, let us behold a wonderful tune that lifts our spirits to the highest highs of bliss and passion. To know that even in the face of the worst evils possible in the ruins of a dying world, there is always hope and joy to find.
>Creating a game, name it "asdasd" >"Game with name already exists" >Oh.. okay >Creating a game, name it "asdasdasd" >Game with name already exists" >FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKK!!! >Creating a game, name it "a" >You have sucesfully created the game. >Every fking time...
As others have said this is the d1 Tristram theme, D2 uses a remix that's darker for when you briefly visit there. D2 may contain this in it's files but this version is never used in that game.
Took me forever to memorize how to play this song on the guitar. I've loved playing this song and when I first listened to it when I was a kid. So much nostalgia. Can't wait for Diablo 3 :)
this song is so amazing.when i listen to it it remind me the past when i played d2 when i was a lil kid.this game will be forever an historic game and never i will forget it.
"Stay a while and listen..." Yeah, that's exactly what I did when I played D1 as a teenager. I love this track , and now I'm trying to learn how to play it on the guitar. This is a good example on how good music can really make a difference in a game
You right ! the real sequel of Diablo is now Torchlight... Jay Wilson and his asshole team has destroyed all the game. Because of this fucking DRM. They did it's, they almost turned the game became a MMO just because of money... I know all the game company need money to grown and survive. But if you turn a single player become a MMO game just because of money and you don't want they crack your game... It's a most shitty reason I can ever seen and right ! Jay Wilson need to come back to hell and continued serves the mighty Demon lord Diablo now. Sorry of my bad English !
Diablo 1 was one of the first games I ever played; I was only about 7 (no, I wasn't one of the little girls who liked princesses and dress-up but instead KILLING DEMONS) and when I first started this, I was immediately just.... entranced by it. Now, years later, I still play it to this day. One of my absolute favorite games. People can talk about how nice and shiny games nowadays are, but nothing compares to how older games such as Diablo were. Masterpieces that can never be repeated.
many hours have i stayed, and many have i listened, from the courtyard of the dark tristram, the open plains outside the rouge encampment, to the sand covered ruins of Tal Rasha's desert, to the swamps of kurast, to the depths of hell, i have slain demons, monsters, and spirits...and a few cows, all the while this song payed. It will always stay in my heart.
The memories this brings back... those summers of staying up for 18 hours and farming mephisto... Man do I miss those days. Farming all day for a Arreat's Face. Grandfather. Zod rune... People keep saying D2 wasn't all that great on reddit... they really didn't understand the game. It will always remain in my top 5 list of amazing games I've played in my life.
I did. My brothers and his firend introduced me to Warcraft 2, Diablo 1, Quake, Dark Forces, Syndicate etc. All while I was a wee little baby. I'm 14 now and I have to say games for the most part seem to be going donwhill. I can only imagine how the true oldschoolers feel.
I think when you die this is the song that will open the gates for heaven or Hell...Whatever choice you made in life this music will make you think about it...
Thank goodness you've returned. Much has changed since you lived here my friend. All was peaceful until the dark riders came and destroyed our village. Many were cut down where they stood, but those who took up arms were slain .. or .. or dragged away to become slaves .. or worse. The church at the edge of town has been desecrated, and is being used for dark rituals. The screams that echo in the night are inhuman, but some of our townsfolk may yet survive ..
Diablo2 is not game. Its life. I never played any game which forced me to play it again 10 years later. The music has soul, the characters are perfectly done, spells, land, enemies, everything is top.
I love how this song makes me think of the first Diablo Ever since I first played it when I was like 3, it just gave me this eerie feeling simply because of this music I honestly think the first Diablo is the best Rpg ever but that's just my opinion :)
Among the best game music ever made! The feeling when playing this game along with the master composed music... it's undescribable! Longing for Diablo 3 and wishing it's going to be great!
Blizzard always made awesome games and always had great music for those. It's amazing how they manage to maintain 3 gameworlds each with it's own storyline. Warcraft,Starcraft,Diablo.AWESOME!
Ah the nostalgia..... 8th grade.... playing the Diablo 1 from dusk till dawn.... with 3 friends all huddled in front of that 14" CRT with that white cased Pentium 1... all waiting to take turns to descend into the depths of 2D hell... memories....
I know there are many, many great songs in the history of video game music. But this song - THIS song.....is probably the single greatest piece ever made. It's ok if you don't agree, but this song takes me to a place when games were mind blowing experiences. This song gives me a certain feeling I just can't describe. I get goosebumps sometimes.
It's also in Diablo 2 when you return to the Tristram to Save Deckard Cain. Plus, the Diablo 2 version has extended soundtrack that never been made into Diablo 1 yet. For example at 6:50
Ladders in Diablo 2 were resetted in May 2012, days before the launch of D3. 15000 people playing it again only in Europe is a valuable thing. I'm back to old but satisfying style definitely.
how does he have way to much time on his hands? this is great, diablo series was one of the best introduced RPGs, i remember playing this when i was in fifth grade...i'm in college now. cant wait for 3. thanks uploader
In my opinion, these soundtracks are some of the very best freestyle music compositions out there. There are also a few great tracks from the 300 O.S.T., Tron, Daft Punk and a handful of others.
I am a hard, but not die-hard Blizzard gamer. My first game was the original Diablo when I was eight, then, I played a little Starcraft, then Diablo II and did not play another Blizzard game till WoW, last year. Because of not having a gaming computer, or not having enough to buy the games, I missed out on some classics, but, it is great to pick them up.
1:35 to 1:58 what the heeeeccckkkkkkkkkkkk!! that echoing guitar and the wind whistle noise... it gives me an epic emotion that I can't fully describe. feels like it's an important, bittersweet, sensational moment.
Yeah you're right Hippieotaku it also makes me feel so nostalgic i was like 8 years old when i used to play that game reminds me of so much good memories :P
This game was the first game I played on a PC. It was so epic. I played the game for maybe 4 or 5 years until I finally moved on to other games. These sounds brings back so many memories. I'll admit, D3 was not what I expected (not at all), but I wouldn't say it's "BAD" either... it just lacks the "D2 feeling", and the repetitiveness.
There were many a long night that I was so relieved to hear this music again... When I stepped out of that brooding dungeon and I was back in town and safe again for a few moments... If the boys at Blizzard can do it again with DIII.... Well. I'm excited anyway. lol.
I swear this song and part of the game is so much creepier if you think about how in Diablo 1, that was just another camp full of people fending for their lives, and you come to it now, and everything is burned and just an evil ghost of what it used to be... Plus there's that kid's corpse... And if I remember right he was actually a character you talked to... Jeez, these games are so dark.
Click like if you, too, could never beat Diablo because you could never tear yourself away from the town and it's music long enough to get a darn thing done.
Aaaah such memories. really makes me feel like 9 again. I usually don't like games with visuals such as diablo 2 but that games is outstanding. Even better than the third
also i love the music, i played diablo 2, back when i was 3-4 years old, i was actually able to understand fully, the gameplay you experiance. my mom and dad and i playe together on lan and beta it so many times, best memories
Yes, it's what made D2 a good game with a lot of builds and so on. I had a Zealot Paladin, and i enjoyed every second i had fun with my friends, in Lan all together around a table. I finished D3 in about 2 months in any difficulty, and never had the same fun again. Maybe it's me that i'm old nostalgic player, but at least i see when something is good or not.
@plamenchoo2 There are 2 versions, they are called Into Town (Diablo, 4:49 mins) and Tristram (Diablo 2, 7:41 mins), this is the Diablo 2 version. The D2 Version got 2 more minutes of new audio. Listen around 6:20, thats the Act 2 samples
This song was also in Diablo 2, when you visited the destroyed Tristram. Yet it was much less than the first one, course. But what 2 lacked was the darkness, both physically and atmosphere-wise. The first one was much more strong in delivery of the story. It's impossible to forget the great voice acting in some tomes.
This brought back some good memories of the summer of 2008, playing this with friends. LAN most every weekend, and then we'd do a ton of Baal runs. Baal sack, Taco Baal, Sweaty Baals, etc etc.
for how very little time you spend in this town in diablo 2, it's music is stellar. i mean if you rush to rescue peckard cain and ignore wirt's leg and the blacksmith and junk you can be in and out of here in like 20 seconds. i would intentionally just chillax and hang around to hear the music and pop the cow
