@@dogwithsunglasses4051 naah. I mean, we have Dragon Age movies. They can just do it in that similar style. Also, Riot is planning on making some type of series based off of some of the characters as well, i've read somewhere. so yeah.
@@mlernout Yeah but that was a movie movie with CGI and such. A movie in this fastion just like the cinematics would be more than good enough, hence is why i brought up Dragon Age, cos the Dragon Age movie was made in that style.
To bad the game will be broken needing 6 months of patches. Good job to the cinematics. But the game ... Will see I would not pre order there broken games.
The guys who made/produced/directed this are extremely talented, i have watched this over 1000 times. I/We demand more content from that team. 10 stars!
@@io-rj6sk If that's the case, that's over 9000 hours of watch time reduced to 6.25 days worth of time!! I've watched this a handful of times myself and showed it off to a few people and i thought I was seeing it a lot lol
We’re still here! After edging us for three years, c’mon!!! Blizzard, make the freaking series!! Amazon, Bezos! Don’t you want our money, loyalty and admiration?
@@robertleonardjr6663 I think your math is incorrect, it is not 9000 hours, but 155,55 hours ( 9min 20sec is 560sec * 1000 watch times = 560000 sec / 3600 sec (because 1 hour has 3600 sec) which gives us 155,55 hours. I hope that helps somebody. ;)
Real talk tho - what makes Lilith so scary? She's the daughter of Mephisto. Sure she (co-)created Sanctuary, but we've already defeated each of the PRIME Evils, then all 3 of them together, then all of them together + Malthael. How's she gonna top that?
@@ArawnOfAnnwn "By three they come". I have a sneaking suspicion we're gonna see the 3 prime evils returning. Also, at the end of D3 Adria said in her final note that she took the necessary precautions to ensure Diablo's revival.
And years fans ask for a series and somehow riot beats them. They do have a dedicated animation studio that did skylanders on Netflix for activision. So wth will they do one for either warcraft, Starcraft, diablo or even overwatch?
@@dungeonmaster16 i think it would take too much time and to do a 24 minute episode with so much fancy tech and stuff. And multiply that for like 30, and then more seasons.
@@dungeonmaster16 I work as a character rigger for a CGI development team. And yes, the cinematics are cool. But even on massive render farms, these 9 min sequences take months to completely render and process. To make a full film would take an eternity. Sadly the speed of the current hardware just isn't good enough
Because this 9 minutes cinematic contains more advanced CGI than most Hollywood blockbusters. This is extremely expensive and time consuming to make. However, I would pay 10 times the price of a normal ticket to watch a full-length movie like this, but i'm sure most people won't.
@@astropolis7230 only people who have no clue say things like that. Look at the new Disney Animation Movies, in terms of quality they are on the same level as this cinematic. Its all about budget.
@@astropolis7230 That would be true a few years ago, however technology is advancing at record paces every year. It's not nearly as time consuming or expensive anymore and it keeps getting more efficient by every single day.
Idk I didn't do much watching of anything when playing diablo2 and its cinematics are definitely not why people still consider it one of the best games ever made.
I absolutely love the detail at 1:41 where the disguised necromancer helps the scholar by forcing his hand against his wound. First time viewing it comes off as him helping the scholar, but we see later on when the scholar mimics this gesture again that the necromancer simply wanted to make sure the scholar didn't bleed out all the blood that was needed to bring Lilith home.
is it implied he was just disguised all along? can necromancers lose their lower jaws to axe strikes and heal? I always thought he just possessed the body of the 4th one at the end and we're just seeing a visual manifestation of him, like he's speaking through a conduit (since hes a necromancer and it was a dead body)
@@gamongames I don't think he possessed the body, since he knew what the scholar said at 1:41 ("I came here for knowledge"), you can later see how the necromancer says "You came to the darkness for knowledge". So I assume it was him disguised all along.
The moment when you just see their eyes while they’re talking is one of the creepiest things I’ve seen. Then as he becomes “the blood of the willing” the camera movement as he moves to his post is one of the most striking things in any Blizzard cinematic. Truly amazing.
Creepiest thing I have ever seen is the crowd applauding the man boldly lying about blitzchung, after ignoring the bipartisan letter to unban him. Seeing a crowd of Americans cheering for a Chinese Communist Dictator silencing those that appose him! Creepiest thing I've seen in years.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, regardless of everything and anything else they do... Blizzard's cinematic's quality are always top notch, A++ 110% amazing.
@@AllenC1x oh I mainly meant the quality of gameplay, not the graphics quality. I wasn't that clear about it it seems 😬. They make great cinematics always, just wish they could give us such amazing experience on gameplay too.
@@imadeyoureadthis1 then why do they have so many critical acclaimed games, and why have I sunk countless hours into them? Not every Blizzard game is awesome, but they made some of the best games I can think of.
@@felygu9268 I agree with you. I just have some bad memories for example with battle for Azeroth, warlords of draenor. Comparing the feelings of their cinematic in contrast with the actual gameplay is sometimes too distant. Then again their cinematic are top notch.
Everything about this cinematic is incredible. The build up, Lilliths stoic pose, the blood cape, the Sakura like blood leaves, the dread music. I reckon I come back every few months to watch this again.
Yeah, like she's still taking in being in the mortal realm, and adjusting herself to being around all these inferior, mortal things that are so below her. Anyway, that was the vibe I got.
@@nakenmil She didn't even notice that she wasn't alone until that guy spoke. Even then it took her a second or two to realize that someone was speaking to her.
Always have been as far as I remember. From WarCraft 1 to this here. Blizzard always made technically fantastic cinematics. But lets be honest: It's actually unimportant. It's a cherry on top. I don't think anyone of us plays an ARPG for its cinematics. It's nice to have, but even if there were no cinematics at all, it wouldn't be a loss.
That moment when you realise eyepatch was the priest all along and lured them to the gate with promises of riches and knowledge because he needed the blood of the willing. Well played sir
I want a WHOLE DAMNED MOVIE of this story line alone. With THIS animation and THESE voice actors. I'd even pay game price for someone to do something decent, unafraid of "crossing boundaries". And I don't even play Diablo!
It would be boring after watching the cinematic bc is mayor spoiler, you can figure out most of the previous story of the characters from which there are only 2 characters worthy of developing a story for a screen play and well I don’t think you are too interested in a monk’s daily chores... All what you need to know is there already, an unlikely group consisting of 3 low life outlaws one of them a stranger in town with a shadowy background oddly interested in our fourth character a curios yet introvert and erudite monk who happens to have an unusual fixation on ancient treaties, I am sorry all of that reads like a huge filler, I am yawning already... This trailer is about hooking people on what happens next. Oh you want to know? Buy the game.
@@makisjnx007 Maybe I'm missing something that you're trying to say, because I'm not sure what you're garbled reasoning here even is. One shouldn't wish to see a movie based on this excellent spectacle of a trailer simply because there are games to play set in the same world? That would be like saying Saving Private Ryan shouldn't be a movie because there are books about WW2 and we already know how it all ends, so what's the point.... That's just silliness.
Lilith's entry into home is probably one of the most badass appearence in a cinematic. The fact her name isn't pronounced before the end, how she slowly lands and lends her hand to the Summoner... Somehow, I can't help but to see some Kerrigan's vibes into Lilith. They both feel so powerful and deadly resoluted for action.
Since my very first interaction with cinematics, to this very day, i still do not understand why gaming studios do not make complete animated films... The story of Diablo is so deep and amazing...only the cutscenes from diablo 2 resurrected to this one are worth making a film out of it. I mean i would pay raw cash for a channel where they spin cinematicslike movies/series all day long.. Hope they will ever see a market opportunity and make it happen ! Btw cant wait to play this..
@fenrox Beause she's just been freshly "born" in Sanctuary through this ceremony, so her body isn't complete. She's completely new and raw. By the time we meet her in the story she'll be fully formed and not transluscent.
@Dodadeus Someone pointed out that's she transluscent like an unborn fetus with all its organs still visible and membrane-like skin, to further emphasize that she's just been born.
I read your comment and I thought it was a mistake. How can a one minute trailer have 08:38 mark? Then I realized the video is over 9 minutes long. It felt like a minute for me!
@@Nissenov Dont thank me yet. That was just a cost of summoning this menace. Making it actually feel good to break demon spines is gonna cost a lot more virgin lives
This is Blizzard's quality for trailer I've remember years ago. Absolutely in front of any competition. Pushing limits to totally new levels. Masterpiece.
@@brotheralaric7177 That's irrelevant. This discussion is not about the game. Cinematics are an art form on their own. But, of course, I agree that getting hyped for the game based on CG cinematic makes no sense.
This is one of the most intense cinematics I have ever seen...just wow. Bring on the movie already!!! I don't even play this game but that was thrilling to say the least!
Nobody talks about it. the close up from lilith's face and her expressions is one of the best things i ever see in an animated movie. I watched x times only for this scene.
@@Obtite I'm pretty sure they just had the wrong vision for Diablo 3. The game was very well made, it just went in all the wrong directions. If this and Blizzcon is any indication, 4 will be leagues better.
"There is no light here" as he gazes into pure black eyes. I don't know why but that had me shivering down my spine! Glad they're going back to their creepy roots
I remember the older games had all this darkness, same as the first 2 fallout games, but without the humor. So creepy to go back and play. D3 was creepy in its own way too, but the game was so actiony it's easy to take that for granted
Dancer of the Boreal Valley yeah I agree D3 was creepy in its own way. I think the cartoony abilities and colors sort of lightened the creepy moodiness D3. But so far what we see with D4 I LOVE!!
@@Scarecrooo Well, she is one of the "founding fathers" of Sanctuary and the human race. In the Diablo universe, lines are pretty blurred between angels and demons anyway. Many of the angels exhibit human-like flaws like pride, envy, greed, weakness, selfishness and demons are capable of non-evil feelings as well.

Yes!!! I also was thinking about Berserk when I watched this. Specifically, the Eclipse where it was the one story about group of a band than they were going to be for the sacrifice for the new member of God Hand. Or Griffith's rebirth, when crowds of people summoned him from the astral world by despair and death than Zodd came and bowed to him. Gosh, I wish to see Berserk's adaptation like this!
because this took months to make this and a good longer story is hard to come by. pixar and dreamworks' masterpieces were like 1 in 100 ideas they started and took lots of large edits over 5+ years, each.

When I was younger, it took me awhile to figure out if Blizzard’s cinematics were digital or actually filmed with real actors and sets. Idk how they do it or what their process is, but their work is beautiful.
Could you imagine how amazing it would be? But they should make a movie series of it, starting from the very beginning. And have it go all the way to current. I could was see a twelve movie franchise from this.
they're made a 9 minute cinematic without batting an eye, at this point i'm convinced they have a movie or series for atleast oen of their IP's in the making/planing

@@jjm152 It's definitely a lot closer to Diablo than Diablo 3 was. That game took too much from WoW's cartoony look and the game was a cakewalk. Diablo 1 and 2 could be scary games when you're alone with headphones on, kinda like Doom.
Beautiful. I love the small things like how long it takes Lillith to even notice the one talking. They make it so clear shes such a higher being without a single word.
she almost definitely noticed. my impression was a combination of animalistic posturing and just wanting to take in the situation and environment before anything else
Something I noticed waaaaay back, a fantastic bit of attention to detail... Whenever the view is in first person from the eyes of the monk / priest, his vision is distorted, as it should be, because he is / had been losing blood. They really didn't miss a thing in this cine. Incredible piece of work.
This has to be my favorite trailer/ cinematic from Blizzard so far. Especially the use of the camera at the end for the "blood of the willing", just over all, great film making. I also love how it leans so hard towards horror. Ending when Lilith arrives reminds me of something straight out of Hellraiser.
You know what else is so horror instilling about this trailer? That Blizzard are selling themselves out to China by silencing the Hong Kong protests and anyone who supports them. Bliizard is willing to ignore those poor people, that's truly scary.
the meme is about competition. One guy says they are good at something - someone else says hold my beer (or whatever) as they outperform the competition
