hmmm. well, thinking closer about it, he's not wrong. a disloyal suboordinate with other motives would certainly rather be outside working on their schemes and getting stronger, and a suboordinate who's only loyal on principle and doesn't love their liege likely wouldn't want to perform personal acts of service for them. the reason all of that falls flat is that EVERYONE in the upper echelons of the jura-tempest federation is like that, to the point that it makes it a little boring. so given that rimuru's suboordinates are actually competing to see who can be the most loyal to him, diablo just looks selfish. now, if this were a series like "so i'm a spider, so what?"....
