Yes, I always recommend fixed axle as you have more control over the diabolo. ALL high-level diaboloists use fixed axles (as well as bearing). I think it's important for you to be able to control fixed axles.

MrBadreligionz do you normally practice indoors or outdoors? For outdoor I would recommend Henry's circus with different/better plastic axles. For indoor, I'd recommend taibolos.

Sean Owens From my perspective, the best routines are made up from combinations of tricks that you naturally do all the time. Do you ever just practice to music and just let go and let it flow? Usually with most diaboloists you'll see certain combinations of tricks that they like to do and these come about from when they're just playing around. Of course it is possible to try and script a routine and put tricks together but I've found this quite hard work and not that much fun. The main thing I look for with a routine is to keep a flow going - if the diabolo can generally move in the same direction or flow from one trick into the other, it's a nice routine to watch. Another tip could be just to watch a movie or tv show while you diabolo and let yourself just go along with the tricks without thinking too much - I do this from time to time and find it a fun way to watch a movie and also let the tricks flow (and get in some good practice for the tricks I already know). Thank you Gordo. Regarding your question - I'm not sure, but I know the first/basic stick release tricks are called suicides. So, I guess the idea of genocide came from that. Also, these days, people usually call then 'gens' - e.g. 'mini-gen'.

Willie R I always recommend fixed bearings, unless the trick requires a bearing (like some 2d or vertax tricks).
