Great video. Caught a potential error; per ATI, Fetal Breathing Movement normal test would be at least one episode of greater than 30 seconds duration in 30 minutes = 2 for the BPP, and absent or less than 30 second duration = 0. I heard "at least one breathing movement in 30 seconds" which is not what NCLEX teaches on this
This video was really helpful. I did stay for your story at the end because I also had to have NST's for both my children. Both were fine, however, my daughter was born first but her name is Finley! Just had to share because how similar that was.
In a patient with placenta previa, we would be able to perform an NST and BPP, however we would not want to induce contractions for diagnostic purposes! --Meris
Great catch! It's one or more episode of breathing movements for greater or equal to 30 seconds DURING the 30 minutes of the BPP. I'll try and get an overlay added to clear that up!

Great question! Typically in the outpatient setting, if after 20 minutes the NST is non-reactive, we would reposition the patient, and give them something like orange or apple juice for some cold sugar to try and stimulate baby. We can also use the vibroacoustic device to try and buzz baby awake and go for another 20 minutes. If it's STILL not reactive, we would be updating the provider, and they would likely progress to doing a BPP!
