In 2017, the legendary Diahann Carroll joined AAPF for a conversation about Black women in Hollywood as part of our 3rd annual #HerDreamDeferred at the Hammer Museum.
In these clips from that event, she addresses the question of whether there was ever a "Golden Age" for Black women in Hollywood, recounts stories of being demeaned on set, and delivers a surprisingly candid self-reflection about the cost of palatability and the internal struggle for belonging as a trailblazing Black actress on white television.
