Good stuff! I did a lot of experimenting with caps and I found I really do like the class 2 ceramics in the traditional spots in an AB763 i.e the treble positions on V1/V2, the reverb mixer and also that .001uf input cap to the phase inverter. I tried the M150 and various new and vintage film caps (including micas which I hated!) but none sounded as pleasing to my ears.
Yeah you're not the first person I've heard say that. I did a test on my Super Reverb in a video where I put NOS ceramic caps back in where they were originally (were replaced with mallories or something when I got the amp, can't remember) and did an A/B comparison to see if anybody can hear a tone difference. Shouldn't be hard to find if you're curious, one of the last videos in the super series
what a piece of history - I would take a Super Reverb anyday (barring resale value of course)- played them both and Super Reverbs are just the best amp ever..... 2ohm holiness through 4 x10" configuration will beat 8ohms through a 15 inch spikey JBL D130 any day of the week. I don't say this to shit on this amp but to just temper people's GAS over the VVerb- Go get a SR, It stayed around in the catalogue for a reason (the AB763 VVerb was discontinued before it's release year ended)
