I totally agree, guidance is ultimately from Allah. Nobody can guide a person to believe and accept Islam as the Truth. This is impossible no matter how much evidence we have. It is mentioned in the Quran and even Muhammad (SAW) wanted his uncle to be guided but in the end he died as a disbeliever. Even the mighty prophet couldn’t guide someone they want, not even Ibrahim (AS) with his father. Their job is to convey the message and it’s not their job to convert people forcefully even though they have that right since they know the absolute Truth.

[47:4] Interestingly, in the above verse, it implies a preference for taking captives rather than killing the enemy in warfare. As can clearly be seen, taking all of the above verses of The Quran into account, it would lead to a gradual reduction in slave numbers and eventually abolish slavery. regarding the point you made about Infinite torture for a finite crime. If you were aware of the magnitude of the greatness of the one you are disobeying then the crime would not seem all that small. regarding the calendar. The quran is supposed to be from the creator of the universe, a super being of huge wisdom and intellect and with a character that is most just and merciful. So muslims think that this god could not state clearly that slavery is wrong. You can prohibit something while knowing it will still go on. For instance murder and theft are forbidden but that doesn't stop those acts, it merely reflects god's justice and character. The quran allows slavery and so insults any just god. Mohammed trades in slaves and so he also insults a just god. The most likely explanation is ordinary men wrote the quran. Men who didn't think slavery was wrong because as you say it was common practice everywhere.

Please refer back to my post. slavery was a common practice everywhere but was not sanctioned by the Quran. somethings in the quran are permissble but hated by god. take Divorce as an example. Although it is allowed in islam, there are hadiths which state: "The most hated of permissible things to Allah is divorce." btw you should know that Slavery in Islam is not the same the modern day meaning of the words. slaves had rights . they had to be fed with whay their masters ate, they had to be clothes with the same clothes as their masters. they could not be maltreated. Muhammed PBUH did not trade slaves. thats simply a lie. the modern day slave trade was not of islamic origins. you should read up a little about the rights of a slave in islam (google) and tell me if the slave mentioned in the quran (ie the slave that the Quran says to free anyway) is the same as the slave you imagine him to be. In todays society we have millions of slaves. they are slaves to the banks. what is the real difference. people today are forced to work crap jobs for crap pay so that their house and all that they think they own won't be taken away from them. This is all made possible by a clever invention called INTEREST (from non muslims ). In islam Interest is forbidden. Islam has made the freeing of a slave an act of worship and you say that it promotes slavery. hmm.

The English language originates in England not the America's but nonetheless, the original scriptures are in Hebrew, and Aramaic then translated into other languages. Just like the Quranic language originates in Arabic and is also translated into other languages...
