The situation is not complicated. Saying it is complicated is just an excuse. It is morally simple. Thanks for the skin check btw.

And even if it is "complicated" then you should be able to explain why its complicated and why that complication makes the deaths of several thousand children not evil and somehow justifiable. Like these people have to some moral convictions here if they really want to have a conversation and that requires them get off their "neutral" observer high horse.

@@SuperPal-tr3goIt’s complicated because the Palestinians are just a sacrificial lamb in a bigger conflict between Iran and Israel. It’s complicated because the attackers hide behind everything that we consider untouchable: civilians, children, hospitals, ‘refugee camps’. And it’s all by design.

Not even explaining why Hamas exist and did the heinous things they did is "complicated", terrorism is what you get when you violently oppress a people for decades and decades, destabilise a nation and drive its population to complete desperation, teach them to view your countrymen with the same hatred that you very openly have for them. Of course Palestinians are going to hate Israelis and become capable of acts of violence towards them, they have been treated as less than human by them their whole lives.

@@Pensnmusic Yup! It's very simple! An apartheid colonial state was established in a place where people already lived and has since been systematically displacing and murdering those people because it's convenient in order to attain their land. The only thing that is complicated are the stories that the people on the side of the colonizers tell themselves in order to justify said cruelty.
@1152pm

complicated was many years ago. now they went ahead and really made everything very easy to understand: they are literally doing anything they can -- including genocide -- to get their hands on that piece of land. and a lot of other countries are just letting them do it. and the irony of it all is that they know exactly what that feels like to be on the other side. which to me only says how much more awful it is to be doing that and still play the victim card and say they couldnt ever commit genocide. i remember when i was in high school and we were studying about that area and its history and even then it was like a wild thing to be pro palestine. that goes to show they did a very good job to tell their side of the story and to make their voices heard, as the U$A always had their back, while the other side was silenced. which is why today the whole media coverage is so zionist. slowing reframing history, so now almost everyone is on the same page about the whole thing. unless you got out of your way to look up stuff about this conflict, a very specific version of the story is what you see every time the subject is mentioned on the papers. not saying people are little innocent sheep at all, bc every one is responsible for their sources of information and should choose them wisely, but it's a frame of mind that people need to take several steps back to get out of (much like capitalism and people who dont recognise their own oppression). so in that sense it's a complex situation. but what's happening now is pretty simple. the facts are simple. people complicate the facts with their skewed views. 🍉🍉🍉🍉

Anyone saying 'it's too complicated' at this point is deliberately refusing to educate themselves. Something as simple as the Some More News video from several years ago literally debunking the idea that Israel-Palestine is 'too complicated' would be a start. Every day I see the worst images and read about unimaginable attrocities, and I'm just supposed to go about my day as if a Holocaust isn't happening. I see numerous gofundme fundraisers asking for upwards of $50,000 for people to evacuate their families because Egypt is charging ~$5000/adult and $2500/child to cross from Rafa into Egypt. I've donated to a few, but I also live in a capitalistic hell and can't donate to every gofundme I see and then I feel like shit because I can't shake the feeling that I'm the reason an entire family is going to be killed because I also need money to live even though logically I know I'm not the one authorizing weapons sales, dropping bombs on civilians, or charging a fortune just for people to evacuate. I feel like as average people, we're forced to shoulder the guilt of our sadistic leadership because we live in a dystopian hellscape that gaslights us into thinking that thousands of children being starved, killed and permanently disabled is somehow justified and I just feel sick to my core. I can only take solice in that most people aren't sadistic psychopaths and we can validate each other in how we're not going crazy.

Anyone who says “it’s too complicated” with their whole chest is choosing to be ignorant. I watched a video that tried to explain the situation years ago before the current conflict. Did I retain everything from it? No. But guess what, genocide is not ok. Murder is not ok. Politicians that see people are disposable cattle and allow these atrocities to happen are not human. It’s not complicated. Also you can feel sympathetic for the few Isrealis that have died as a result of this conflict AND still acknowledge that Palestine is 10000% the victim in all this. No one deserves to die because some old man thinks he can play god with people’s lives!! It’s not complicated!

I appreciate you Noah. I am happy to have found this channel to be able to hear another human being speak on what we're seeing and it not being some convoluted "well there are terrorists within this population that is putting civilians in danger, so war blah blah blah" bullshit observation that I think mainstream media is still pushing. I appreciate people who have the courage to call others out or to at least question them when they're defending monstrosity. I don't have the courage. I freeze when people question the idea that whats happening in Gaza is genocide, is slaughter and not war, and is wrong. I freeze because I can't believe that it isn't apparent to anyone watching. I freeze because I can't believe people can see footage of people just walking and being struck by bombs or mangled children crying and think that its justified. I freeze and question reality. I appreciate anyone who can keep composure and stay firm and respond to ideas such as "the Israel/Palestine conflict is too complicated to have an opinion." It isn't. Colonialism is and has always been brutal, greedy and immoral. Israel/palestine is not a war. It is one colonial backed state slaughtering an indigenous one for a land grab. I can no longer accept any other angle on this situation.

Man, this whole thing has taken such a tool on my mental health. My mom has been right-wing for a long time and I was used to disagreeing with her in a lot of things, but nothing could've prepared me for her advocating for and supporting Israel in this terrible situation. In an argument we had, she straight up told me that they were "special because they were blessed by God and could do no wrong." It wasn't the worse thing though, because a few weeks ago I was talking to my 9 y/o brother and I heard him defend Israel. I tried to explain why Israel was wrong in what they were doing, and had to hear this kid tell me that everyone in Palestine deserves to die because even the children there are "soon-to-be terrorists." Of course, he didn't just came up with that on his own, it was him hearing her say stuff. He's a kid that asks a lot, so I don't doubt he started making questions and she went to justify what Israel was doing with these disgusting talking points. It's so vile. I haven't been able to look at her the same way ever since. I had no idea she was that "radicalized" and it's fucking me up.

I know many online leftists can disagree, but I think disengaging for the sake of self-preservation of mental health is good. Yes staying informed is quite important, but after enough grotesque images it does nothing but destroy your own wellbeing. Once the hospitals started to be targeted I was keeping up constantly with it, hoping they would stop or be held accountable. They did not. As someone in the healthcare industry working at an American hospital right now, I would get sick to my stomach thinking about what was going on right across the globe from me. It still is terrible, but in order to live as a person and not have an overwhelming guilt/nightmares, I do think giving it a break is necessary. And once this happens on a mass scale, it does appear indifferent, but I think people can only handle so much violence before tuning it out becomes a necessity to continue their daily lives. That's just my 2 cents anyhow

It's good advice to to tell people to turn off the cadence of war crimes on the news, but keep your eyes open for opportunities to do something about it if you can. Hang in there, everyone.

I'm an ancom and basically all my friends are very reactionary, uninterested in politics, very ignorant to politics, economics, philosophy, they don't even watch news. Any news at all. But they all seem to think they are so smart and correct with every take. Just a few days ago one of these people(who was admittedly a little intoxicated) started disagreeing with me about my politics. I asked him to describes what "communism" was in his own words without googling anything. His response was(fully and completely) "Stalin... It's a lie to make you work". When I tried to explain things in a little more detail, relating capitalism to feudalism, socialism, communism etc., he totally shuts me down, admits he knows next to nothing and doesn't care about politics and simultaneously says I probably wouldn't be able to understand his political position if I tried. I told him based on his responses he was an ignorant contrarian centrist, leaning right. He even admits he is just a contrarian. Whenever I would say anything that disagreed with his assumptions he would just repeat "source" or "citation needed", mind you, I was mid boss fight in elden ring when this conversation was happening. I had had about enough so I said to him "you want to turn this into a real sourced debate, I can do that, I have a mountain of sources for everything I believe from videos, documentaries, books, lectures, articles, etc., and I keep them saved and ready too." Immediately bro starts to back pedal. Says he doesn't want to argue, once again insinuates that I am not smart enough to understand his big brain "everyone is wrong, no I will not elaborate further", and says that if we do start this conversation "I will probably just wait until a big question comes up and leave the discord call while you're talking". Okay, why would I waste my time lol. He went on to tell me I had a fragile ego for... having my beliefs challenged and being prepared to defend them. I'm not sure everyone is fully equipped for dialogue.

I can sense that the new audience you're going to bring in with this content would def benefit from the extra info from actual credible sources. Not sying that we should rely on other people but I think this could get more of your audience to get involved in conversations/ go to protests and not fall into the trap of using "I dont know enough" as a sheild for complacency. Us non-experts have to be the change since we're the majority! Also- love your videos obv and excited for how you're using your platform. I'm keeping my psychology hat off about the whole "obsessed over and responded to a single comment" thing becuase you're clearly self aware enough to know it's a detriment- so I say go for it. I say that it's "too complicated for me" because it's a conflict older than I am and quite frankly I am so worn out by the constant news cycle of atrocities and wars and horrors and doomsdays that I quite simply am not capable of caring, especially in regards to something that's been going on for so long and as a result has so much history and that is so steeped in propaganda. There are so many sides and they are all screaming something at me, all with the same level of confidence. I do not know what to believe. If the world and modern life was an overall kinder and more hopeful place, I imagine I would care quite a lot more and be capable of, as people seem to call it, educating myself, but as it is, all I have is the energy to care about is myself and my friend and her mother dying of cancer. I won't spend what little energy I get in the day becoming miserable over horrors far away when there are always more horrors waiting to replace whatever gets fixed- IF it ever gets fixed. I don't trust the news reporting on the issue, and I trust all the thousands of strangers I've never met talking about it on the internet even less. I can't help others before I've put my own oxygen mask on and currently I am fumbling around to find it. I imagine a lot of people feel the same way. Luckily here in the UK people have the right to protest for whatever cause they feel right. I will always support the right to protest. But honestly, I can't see what effect doing so here will have on what's going on over there; my efforts seem much better spent on helping my friend get through the death of her mother, rather than on being upset about what is just Yet Another Horror to me. I'm sorry, but I can't live like that. I wish innocents weren't dying. I wish all wars ended. I wish my friend's mother didn't have cancer.

Tbh normally it would be weird to me for a self help channel to get political…. But this is not a normal situation. I feel like the ongoing genocide has been such a wake up call for so many people to how fucked this country is and how our leaders and media truly don’t give a fuck about the tolerance and human rights they pretend to champion. They literally tried to scapegoat 2 billion people when they tried to push that “international day of rage” thing back in October-November, then immediately shut up after people started freaking out and hate-criming Palestinians. And we’re just supposed to pretend like they weren’t pushing this stuff down our throats (and still are.) it’s just depressing. so I can see how this intersects with mental health.

you are not the only one who was changed by the genocide. you are a human, the people who are apathetic and jumping through hoops to avoid it are the crazy ones. And the ones defending the atrocities are all destroyed souls.

There's never an appropriate time for a racist to talk about systemic racism. Same concept applies for genocide and apartheid regimes. It's a waste of your energy trying to force them to understand this, when their continued power structure depends on them not understanding it.

I think for someone who consumes primarily mainstream media, it can be easy to fall into believing "it's complicated" and that can lead you to push back on the people who have strong opinions as if they've jumped to conclusions. For anyone who thinks this way, I challenge you to dig a bit more into the topic, or to at least ask the person how they got to their position before assuming it's based in an emotional reaction.

point blank zionists bye. self help is absolutely political, everything is. when we consider why we're in the situation we're in, it's informed by politics. when we look at how we perceive our situation, or what we're told to do about it, that's political. good video, thanks for discussing it further

Many things are complicated. This is not. It is a genocide in broad daylight, and its doesn't merit any mental gymnastics to understand that. Glad to see you talk about this, unlike so many other people on these platforms.

I really don’t think that comments original intent was to have a political dialogue about Gaza at all. Probably the exact opposite. They disagreed with you but MOST OF ALL didn’t want to get into actual dialogue, so they phrased it as more of a criticism of your habit. Idk I don’t think they were malicious, they were actually really polite, i just feel like they should Not have commented in the first place if they didn’t want to take a stand.

They heard someone confidently calling it a genocide and their gut reaction was to nitpick his tone in a way that was trying to imply he was wrong, without ever saying anything that could be directly contradicted. They zeroed in on the genocide thing specifically and then backpedalled to waffling about his tone in general when called out. It was an attempt, conscious or not, to discredit the opinion that it's a genocide and to sow doubt for no good reason when children are being killed en masse. Idc if the intent was malicious, the comment sure was

The situation in Gaza is only "complicated" if you don't see Palestinians as humans with a right to freedom and self determination. Anyone saying it's "complicated" is unwilling to empathize with a people that have grown up in an open air prison where Israel regularly "mows the lawn" (Israel's words).
@dwarfyuki
@dwarfyuki 6 месяцев назад
Honestly I watched the whole video and idk what is "complicated". But the only instance where you can say it's complicated without defending Israel is if you're just talking about foreign policy. Which is basically world leaders playing a make believe game of civilization with the number one objective being gaining "power" or "influence" or whatever other imaginary currency. As opposed to working together to make the world a better place. (never working together actually, no matter how buddy buddies you think x and y countries are, countries don't have friends, they have interest) Oh and also on the topic of the US sending weapons to Israel, I thought the new aid package is stuck in the house along side the one for Ukraine. And as for the weapons that were comited before this, Biden is delaying them. Not overtly though, "power" "influence" remember.

Im really stressed out by this video, the way you reacted the first comment, and the way this comments section is acting like the people you talked about are bona fide zionist nutcases...Bc I agree completely with the first comment!! and I'M PRO PALESTINE!! This has been stressing me out so much I wrote an essay about it (I think my original comment didn't get uploaded bc it was too long // had links to islamic relief UK): I'm by no means an expert on the subject as well. But when I hear the stories of atrocities happening in Gaza from my friends, I try to donate, provide emotional support, etc (ive heard good things about islamic relief UK btw). I care about making a difference in the world by working in healthcare, art, tech, etc. I'm only virtue signalling all this stuff because Im scared people will read this and assume I'm another zionist nutcase. The first comment (at 1:28) was clearly polite, well intentioned. I get the point you made in this reply video - after all, "why did the commenter point out that they thought I was overconfident? They wouldn't have called it overconfidence if I said 2+2=4. So there must have been something disputable in what I said." But I disagree with your (and this comment section's) response, it was far too hostile. They explicitly said they weren't necessarily disputing your conclusions. What more could have been said to make you believe they werent a bad actor? People here are acting like it's a crime to call the Israel-Palestine genocide complicated. This is completely off-base. The first commenter was obviously not saying that "hmmm its complicated deciding whether kids should die 🤓 ", theyre saying that it's complicated to understand and talk about. Which is OBJECTIVELY true. It's complicated knowing how to resolve a war that has been going on since 1948 (if it was so easy to fix, why has it lasted so long?). It's complicated knowing whether, and when to provide military aid to help Palestine. It's complicated figuring out what the outcome will be of a ceasefire, 5 years down the line. Disagreeing with this requires arrogance. (1/2)
@elena9606
@elena9606 6 месяцев назад
This whole situation is especially depressing bc the question of "are you sure you can justify that confidence?" is a) really interesting, I think about it ALL THE TIME. How can you be sure that the content you consume is accurate? What checks and balances can be put in place to prevent misinformation? I would love to hear your take on what guidelines you try to put in place for yourself, and I'm sure others would too. b) a great opportunity to link / source the content youve read! I'm a big fan of questioning everything, and putting in place guidelines when educating oneself. Chalk it up to neurodivergency. I've obsessed over this reply video especially because it came after "learning how to learn" which I think is a great, insightful, and self-aware video. I feel like thinking about how to "justify my confidence" in my beliefs is really important. But when I bring this stuff up, people treat me like I'm just another obnoxious debater / feigning ignorance / trying to annoy them. Usually if I see videos or comments like this, I just ignore them and go about my life. But it's really depressing to see YOU alienating people who I believe are also just learning how to learn. To front run this, I suspect people are going to take my sincerity is proof that I'm simping for / projecting onto this commenter. If you're reading this and think that's what's happening, I'd encourage you to just devil's advocate for me a bit - challenge my ideas as ideas, not as indicators of personality defects. donate to islamic relief UK. (2/2)

everything is political. when content "leaves politics out of it," what they decide to leave out is a political decision that more often than not serves the status quo. cleaning content, for example, is usually entrenched in capitalist realism. so is content on interior design, birth giving, child rearing, cooking... almost everything. i subbed to this channel bc it is explicitly for leftists and i love it.

Completely agree, but I do wanna add that I think it’s important to remember the people who commit and defend these atrocities ARE human. Treating them like monsters makes it harder to point out these issues when they’re happening right in front of us, because people can point to someone like that doing “relatable” things and say, ‘See? They’re not a monster, they’re just like you are me, so there’s no way they could be doing [x] horrible thing you said.’ Ultimately a small part of what you said of course, but I felt it pertinent to mention
