The focus on kicks reminds of a filipino martial art called sikaran which mainly focuses on kicks and the sticks remind me of bastons a weapon in traditional filipino martial arts I wonder if they are related.

This is a nice martial art but when will they make a video about Madagascar's more popular art of Morengy/Moraingy. Diamanga looks like a Filipino martial art nothing really distinctive about it. Morengy on the other hand looks like a rough version of early Okinawan karate and Muay Thai.

+mrnaagyman77 These people also seem to want to deny their African heritage and focus on being from "the Far East." There were alot of slight jabs at AFrica and jock-riding of East Asia.

You are so right , I noticed that from the get go and did not want to say it but you are right. I cant believe they denied their African roots so hard

Keep common sense, how can USA black people say that they are coming from africa? hum If you can answer to that question, you could understand that Malagasy people (people from Madascar) are coming from East people and also africa origin.

Archaeology proves that the first people on the island came from Indonesia, Africans arrived later (no matter be closest, but have the means to get there). Diamanga seems to have connection with silat and second a theory can be the basis of capoeira, it does not please me, but the study of history has to stick to facts not personal tastes moraingy-malgache.blogspot.com.br/

@@FazoLinson i dont know about the capoeira angle because silat harimau also has groundwork... and i have never seen the angolan art that was the predecessor to capoeira... So i think they retained their art from southeast asia and we now see it in its unchanged form

unfortunately there is a strong karate influence in most contemporary Malagasy martial art revival. time to really get back to Dayak roots.

Madagascar might be an African country but the majority of the people there descended from Indonesians and Malaysians

Scientific research shows that most of if not all of you have a great deal of black African in your DNA. Look it up please.
