I've had my eye on this ink from Diamine for a long time; finally caved in and purchased a sample pack that included it. I like it even more than I thought I would! GET THIS INK Goulet Pens (#notsponsored) bit.ly/3o2K0P1
My favorite two Blue inks are: Noodler's Baystate Blue and Iroshizuku Kon-Peki. For "pop", I like DeAtramentis Violet in a fine nib (smells like violets too). The best black for me: Montervede Mdnight Black. I do have the Walden Pond sheening ink (Organics studio Henry David Thoreeau Walden Pond--it's a mouthfull!!). It can be a bugger to clean out though.
This ink is stunning! I am using the ink sample that I purchased from Goulet Pens and now I want the whole bottle. The only thing that saddens me of this ink is the lack of water resistance. My favorite blue is most likely Noodlers 54th Mass. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Just bought a bottle of Polar glow from GP. My current favorite blue is the diamine 150 th anniversary blue velvet. I’m also a lefty and have had no issues!
I want to get this ink, not only for the color ,by also for the bottle! I love J Herbin Blue Ocean! I decided to treat myself for my birthday to the whole bottle!
I think I’m going to have to get a sample of this one first. I have Jack Frost, which I love, and this ink looks so much like it. Maybe Jack Frost leans just a little more turquoise. My favorite blues would be Platinum Blue Black (which isn’t really a blue back), Diamine Prussian Blue, Pilot Iroshizuku Shin Kai, and Sailor Ink Studio 243
Which one do you think looks better in real life. I need to decide between the two. Do you think the shimmer in Jack Frost would be stubborn to clean from the pen?
@@tiramisucocolands7952 I like both Jack Frost and Polar Glow. Polar Glow is darker, deeper royal blue and has red sheen. Jack Frost is more of medium to deep turquoise color, with a pinker sheen and light blue shimmer. Both are beautiful, and I think you need a full size bottle of each. ( I have a bottle of Jack Frost, and just a few weeks ago got a sample of Polar Glow - also, I think Jack Frost is better in medium or larger nibs, whereas Polar Glow is good in any size nib, including fine)
@@geslinam9703 Thanks for the reply, i'll consider these when I'm purchasing. I have a bit of a tight budget so I want to pick carefully. Those inks are very expensive in my country.
@@tiramisucocolands7952 Cultpens in the UK has these inks for less than half the price than it is here in the US. And If you spend a certain amount, you get free shipping. (Diamine inks are made in the UK)
@@geslinam9703 I've been checking Cultpens and Purepens for these inks but still, I buy one for myself and one for the government ahaha. I guess I'll just save up and only buy Jack locally if it's still available. Thanks for your guidance.
Do you have Jack Frost from the same series too? If so, how do they compare? I liked how Jack looked better on screen but i worry that it might clog my pen because of the shimmering particles.
I have many blue inks I like, but I will mention just 3 here. I use Pelikan Royal Blue as my "standard", a reference against which I compare any other ink. Sapphire Blue from Diamine stands out due to its high saturation, making the writing pop out from the page. Finally, Dominant Blue from Dominant Industry is a dark blue, which has an unusually strong red sheen.
Great review. I have just started getting into the fountain pen world. My favorite blue, so far, is J. Herbin Kyanite du Nepal. I’ve started buying pens and inks for my family. My son is also left handed, and I wondered if you had any recommendations?
