This turned out so cute! Love the bright colours. Fun fact about resin drill kits: they tend to have more trash then acrylic kits, but acrylic squares tend to have more tabs and be less consistent in size. I assume it is something about the production process. But as you observed as well, you usually get more than enough drills (Ever Moment are quite well known for giving a decent amount of extra drills). As for the gapping - this is minimal, and as your square placement improves, you'll see less gapping as well 🙃 Well done on your first square drills painting!

Wow thank you for such a detailed response! It's so interesting to hear from someone who has so much more experience than me! And thank you I will definitely keep working on my placement to reduce gapping.

There will always be some trash drills, if this is only what you’ve got, that is really good. Some people use them, but I just can’t. It’s the only thing unsee every time I look at it I see the hole in it lol😂 so I often have a lot of trash drills. Usually companies gives around 10% extra (it’s based on weight, not actual numbers). Even with the really expensive companies like Diamond art club I have trash drills. Some gapping is normal and needed. The glue will shrink over time and without the gapping the drills will just pop off (really annoying, my first ever did so I had tho throw it away in the end). To make it less noticeable I find it really helpful to use a straightener tool on my drill pen. Every section I run it between the drills I’ve placed (I work in 10x10 cm sections), both horizontally and vertically, and roll it really well after so it won’t move much anymore. I’ve seen people use some mica powder or eyeshadow over it to hide the darker lines or gaps between drills, but I never have done that or felt the need to. From a distance you can’t really see them.
