Anna moved with her mother and grandmother first to Kyrgyzstan, then to Kazakhstan and finally to Siberia, in a vain search for traces of her relatives. Her mother married a Polish officer and so the family was able to move to Poland. In Wroclaw/ Poland Anna German studied geology (diploma 1961) and sang. She won national and international competitions and awards, in 1963 a music scholarship. She studied singing in Rome/ Italy for a few months. In 1964 she made her debut in Moscow. Belgium followed. After these tours, a record was released and all of Europe was talking about Anna German. She has also performed in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Europe and Mongolia. She has won awards at renowned national and international festivals. In 1967, Anna German suffered serious injuries in a car accident in Italy. It took her many years of recovery. According to her own statement, it was the love of the Soviet audience that helped her return to the stage. In 1972 she married and at the age of 39 she finally had a son. Also in 1972 her great popularity began in the Soviet Union. Famous masters of the musical genre, Oscar Feltsman, Arno Babadzhanyan and other composers wanted to write only for her. Her songs in Russian were distinguished by great warmth, sincerity, melody and melody. She sang in many languages, and if German was the language of her childhood, Russian is almost a second mother tongue for her. Later, Anna was offered contracts in Europe and America, but she preferred her tours in the Soviet Union. As she recalled, they didn't make much money, but she enjoyed the sensitive audience and loved the romances written for her. Anna German's life is inextricably linked to the former Soviet Union. She was born there, she was and is loved there like a native. Despite the tragic events in her life there, she loved this country.
