The emotions that Diana was feeling while she sang this song were felt through the screen. If you watched a little further through the video, you would’ve seen her silently crying for a moment after the music ended before having to collect herself and return to reality. That’s the power of her voice. Maybe her insanely unique tonal quality strikes something deep in our brains and causes us to have unconscious physical reactions to it. Who knows? I’ll leave that theory to the scientists here. I’ve described her before as enchanting. Mystical. Some have called her “shaman” or “siren”. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to describe her with a word in her own language, but I sorely lack the knowledge of Russian to do that. In any case, I think that even the Russians struggle to find the right word for her.

This was a show case of her lower register, she stayed there almost the whole performance, there are way more for you to find out and be surprised about. As for the song it self, it is an old folk song that talks about a young Cossack warrior who fell asleep and saw in his dream that he was riding on a big field when an ominous wind began to blow which agitated his horse and blown away his hat. Later when his superior heard about his dream he commented that him losing his hat is an ill omen that foretells the loss of his head in combat. I love these songs that have a dream/fairy tale quality to them. Her voice is a hurricane next time be sure to get your doctors permission to listen to her 😆😆😆.

The way I usually describe her is that she is more than a generational talent, she is the type of artist we may only get to see once in human history. Nobody i can think of is polyphonic, contralto, emotionally connected to a song, emotive and downright intense as she is. I mean, nobody is even close, in either gender. I might be exaggerating a bit, as I won't be alive for all of human history, but I am 50 and in my lifetime nobody ever came close and I've listened to a lot of music. Keep going down the rabbit hole, you're still only scratching the surface ;)

This sad folk song is about a Cossack who tells his bad dream and suspects that he will die. This song is well known in Russia - a folk hit (Russians love melancholy, sad songs). Diana hits the heart with her voice. I feel the fear and despair of the Cossack. Just as the ice freezes under Diana's feet, so my soul freezes at these plaintive tones. The guest of honour, said Diana would one day be as famous as the well-known Russian singer Ludmila Zykina. Marc Tishman, one of the singers and jurors, gave a wonderful rating. He did not see the Cossack on stage who has a frightening dream of falling from his horse, but he saw a beautyful bride who is about to be married and who is worried about how her life will go. Beautiful 300 year old Russian folklore about a foreboding dream of a Cossack protecting his homeland...magical is a good word. Love this song and especially love Diana's rendition. This was a Russian TV show that ran for two months in 2021 September. All the people in the judges booth are fellow competitors, not judges per se. Each one sings in a different genre every Saturday night and the artists all rate them selves from top to bottom. Diana won the cumulative point total and she was the youngest, least established person on stage every week. The reason you had blocking issues is that Timur Weinstein of WeiT Media Company holds the rights, not Diana. I've found that Diana generally doesn't block the content from her channel unless it is held by one of the Russian TV stations. Personally I think her best performance of this show was her version of the song "Crow". A Russian singer/artist named Linda published the song in the 1990's (you can find it here on RU-vid). I'm sure you will watch it soon. It's primal, dystopian, tribal and atmospheric...and has dancers performing with Diana.
