At 92-years young, the 1931-built MS DIANA is actually Gota Canal Cruises youngest ship, operating in tandem with the 1912-built WILHELM TAMM and the 1874-built MS JUNO. These ships operate on cruises varying in length from two to six days. The full voyage begins in either Stockholm or Gothenburg and crosses into the Baltic, through inland lakes and the historic canal, itself.
Like her sisters, the DIANA enjoys protected status from the Swedish government. She has three passenger decks with 25 cabins and a capacity for 50 passengers. Cabins have no AC or bathrooms and life on board is like a trip back in time with no wifi, no televisions and no programmed entertainment. In exchange for lacking these modern creature comforts, cruising on the DIANA is rich in history, culture and joy.
I hope you enjoy this history and top-to-bottom tour of one of the world's oldest and most interesting passenger ships.
