What a lot of peps forget is that Diana Krall is first and foremost a kick-ass jazz pianist, and has been for a while. Vocalist second! This one always bring smiles..
He's hearing everything, and executing what he hears. Inspired playing regardless of little off intonation on an instrument that is always out of tune anyway, as was memorably mentioned by Wes on occasion.
OK, Diana is the star. But please list the other band members names. It is the polite thing to do, and they are great! Peter Bernstein on guitar, Paul Gill on Bass and Joe Farnsworth on drums.
My Favorite Song - Think about it - a breezy day at a clasic Jazz fest. Diana - a younger version - still lovely- on her game - just fantastic! In heaven I am!
Love letting the music play randomly in this room, as a fact i was writting, by Divine Grâce Inspiration, something so very special, and felt myself shiver as i realized SHE, HER, was playing this master perfect piece for THAT moment ! Ô that is totally Divine Grâce !!!!!! believe it or not, but i'm in heaven right now, hAAAAAAAA
One of Krall's best live shows. Topnotch photography, perfect sound, and a decent piano as well. And her trio of unknowns (to me) were also just right for the occasion.
I am not a fan of this woman. I luv the greats like Sarah,Ella, Helen Merrill, Dinah, even Doris day sings a happy tune mostly, n I dig Willie...Nelson. Elvis , Bette, Liza,Barbra, but to say she's a real singer. nope, don't like her style ..if I liked to hear low talking, I'd get a cat maybe .. but please put some, even a lil emotion in there , n she does all my favorites from back in the day but Dionne Warwick, Isaac Hayes..aced em n I just can't listen anymore and figure out why ppl say oh.Diana ,.... .sexy?hmm,..let me look it up, maybe I misread the definition. and I don't like negativity...but I luv music so don't spoil the songs I prefer to listen to At my time of spacing out at nite w no regrets w a Sarah or Ella doing their thing.so I feel the vibes...Ray puts me in a chill mood w/o lifting a pinky. 💕☮️ I'm sorry,I'm spoiled n time is short..it waits for no one ! 😽🐈😿
I'm inclined to agree. On the female side I'd much rather hear Jane Monheit sing this. Good Jazz exponant that she is Diana's voice is not powerful enough for me.
Just listened to a video of Ol' Blue Eyes singing it-what puts this in top spot for me is the great guitar and piano jazz. And a great version of "East Of The Sun"(without any singing at all to distract the listener from the always fascinating piano variations)is by Friedrich Gulda.
