I love this duet. Does it get any better than Natalie Cole and Diana Krall. I remember when I first heard Diana Krall many years ago I thought, she's awfully young to love and play the standards so well. She must have had it played at home often while she was growing up. Come to find out Nat King Cole and many other jazz greats were always played in her home and that's how she grew to love the music. Aren't we the lucky ones to hear the results. And Natalie- what can we say about her. A very successful pop career, then she did her father's music justice and brought it to a new generation many of whom would not have not necessarily have taken the time to listen. What a thrill it must have been for Diana to sing with Natalie. Amazing. Natalie- you will forever be in our hearts. May you rest in Peace.
Diana Krall‘s tribute album to the Nat “King” Cole Trio… “All for you “it’s such a beautiful homage to Cole and his jazz trio. If you haven’t checked it out and you love, Diana Krall and you love Nat King Cole, this is a must have album. It’s so wonderful to see Natalie Cole at this time of her life; She was so vibrant and beautiful and the world is a lesser place not having her in it.
I saw both Diana Krall and Natalie Cole at separate Newport Jazz festivals. They were both nothing short of ABSOLUTELY fantastic!!! Rest in peace, Natalie!
To have been in that audience! The incomparable quartet -- Diana Krall, Jeff Hamilton (drums), John Clayton (bass) and Anthony Wilson (guitar) paying the highest tribute to Gershwin with their cover of "S'Wonderful" and then they are joined by the late great Natalie Cole. What a night!
I am overwhelmed by the talent of these two ladies. I couldn't be more happy with this collaboration. RIP Miss Cole. I miss you already. I know now that you and your dad are jamming away at this moment.
What a voice and what phrasing. Also I've never seen someone sing with legs crossed! She has such sure timing and her piano playing is heavenly. Compared to so many modern performers she is on another level.
I did also..one concert, she called me to meet her backstage...shamed audience..I was Only one to bring her roses 🌹...one of Gr8 memories of my life...will see her again in our next life 🙏☮️
I have to think back in time,we was some musician who have been told that a young lady was singing in a resturant outside the Oslo center. We did find.. a very young Diana Krall…years before she got famose….
What a most wonderful joy seeing and listening to REAL Music being interpreted by Highly talented artists. I just LOVE IT...And don't forget the composers.
Is this not one of the greatest duet performances in the history of American music? Not dismissing the good efforts put out by Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand and others, this is so good it just soars above most all of the contemporary pop duets that are produced more for commercial reasons than artistic ones. It doesn't get much better than this. Perfection.
actually, Route 66 was written & composed by actor, pianist, singer and songwriter Bobby Troup in the 40's. While he and actress, singer wife Julie London (both appeared on the 1970s show "EMERGENCY!" as a doctor & nurse, respectively) had played/sung it, it wasn't until Nat Cole sang it that it became a huge hit. While commonly thought of as being primarily a jazz tune, it has been covered in many musical genres, most receiving moderate success. Personally, my favorites have always been, in order, Nat Cole, Natalie Cole, Bobby Troup & Julie London but now I'm adding Natalie and Diana's version to my list of very favorite renditions.
Natalie is a dream in action...once in a life time seen and heard her dad. Sad upon a waking radio news cast imformated the musical world of the death of Mr.Nat King Cole..I be wasted for the rest of the day..Seeing his daughter is amazing two Coles in a life time..Yeah Man!!
Natalie: tahnks for your introducing me Diana Krall. Diana thanks for arrivin´ in time. In spanish we say "Nunca es tarde cuando la dicha es buena." Ask Lila Downs
Please get off the bandwagon of misappropriating and misinterpreting the term “ woke”. The bastardization by Ron DeSantis and other GOP autocrats, is a pathetic attempt to infuse hatred and intolerance into the public space; this is music, classic, ingenious, apolitical, diverse, multicultural, inclusive music; what to see and hear from this extraordinary gathering of superb artists, is the antidote to your poison. If you like the music, give it praise. No need to inject your limited range and lack of appreciation for other genres you may not have the ability to appreciate or understand. Apologies to Natalie, Diana and the other musicians for this bit of Schadenfreude. Your artistry and the superb collaboration, is the balm our souls and spirits crave. Thank you for your gifts. Bless you Natalie. You have made heaven a little sweeter MBT 8/14/23
